I always eat at Don Julio when I am Orlando. Love the food and cannot complain about the margaritas! Its always lively and really great food. Never wait terribly long but it is always packed.

I've only been here about four times in the last couple years but the food here is always good. We had a party of 10. Service was fast and friendly.

We stopped in to Don Julio's to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday with a group of 8. I have to say that service here was exceptional. Nancy and I were running a bit late because I was stuck at work for an emergency. When we arrived, our group were working on appetizers and placed their orders a few minutes earlier. Staff were extremely accommodating - delivered our drinks and promptly placed our orders. Amazingly our orders were out about 10-minutes after all of our friend's orders arrived, which is unheard of. Our server Emiliano L. must have gone out of his way to fast-track our two entrées to make that happen which we really appreciate, thank you Emiliano! Nancy decided on the Aguacates Rellenos with Grilled Chicken ($12), and I chose the Carnitas with Flour Tortillas ($21), I also ordered a Yuengling bottle ($6). I have never seen the Aguacates Rellenos before but its basically two avocado halves stuffed with the meat of your choice (grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, or sweet plantains) served with a portion of cilantro rice and chipotle sauce. I didn't get to try the dish but my wife seemed to have no complaints. The Carnitas were excellent. The roast pork was moist and flavorful the pickled onions on top was a nice touch, the refried beans, fresh romaine, sour cream, Mexican rice, and pickled jalapenos were a perfect match with the flour tortillas to make my mini tacos, they also provided a side of hot sauce from the kitchen which was actually quite spicy and had great flavor; made for a great taco! The restaurant was very busy on this Thursday evening, yet staff kept everything clean and orderly even the restrooms. My only complaint is that they tack-on an automatic 20% gratuity to parties larger than 6. Emiliano was exceptional so he definitely deserved the 20%; however, I believe this should be lowered somewhere between 15%-18% because that is the standard. If the customer feels that the server went above and beyond, they can increase using the suggested additional tip recommendations on the kiosk. Other than that, I would recommend Don Julio's for anyone looking for good Mexican food in the area.

Another great experience with Juliana or Juanita (I'm sorry I forgot her name)! I ordered the salmon that came with a mango-habanero sauce and my fiance ordered the chicken enchilada. Paired with a 32oz Modelo. Glad this is our local Don Julio spot!

When I first moved to New Mexico I was hell bent on finding good food that compared to the delicious NM cuisine. At first I was a little disappointed but after giving them a few more times, I've become absolutely OBSESSED. Their carne asada anything (enchilada, California burrito, tacos) is drool worthy The margaritas are strong and the food is delicious

Nice airy cool booth by entrance but Hostess is giving me attitude for wanting this booth... WHY....?

Second visit here because my friend likes it... Our Server was very nice (Lily), however the front desk Hostess gave me an attitude because I chose to seat at a booth rather than the table she wanted... WHY...? Food is good; try the crispy Cheesy Birria. The Passion Fruit frozen Margarita was also good, but my glass cracked and broke without touching it. They immediately gave me a new drink, but Wow! Ambiance is fine but the hostess sets a bad mood.

What's left of my steak burrito!!

Stopped by on a Sunday night and it was definitely busy, which gave the place a lively energy right away. Parking was easy since it's located in a shopping plaza, which is always a plus. Vibe & Drinks The vibe and ambiance are fun and social -- a great spot for groups. The drink menu is extensive with a lot of creative options, though some cocktails are on the pricier side. The mocktails leaned very sweet and juice-forward, which may be a bit much depending on your preference. Service & Starters Service was friendly but a bit slow, likely due to how busy it was. Once our food order was placed, everything arrived quickly, and the food runners were very attentive -- keeping our table clean. Every table is served complimentary chips and salsa, which was appreciated and a nice way to start the meal. Food The food was decent overall, though a bit underwhelming for the price point. * Carne Asada: Cooked well, good flavor, and a generous portion. * Shrimp Quesadilla: A little plain; the shrimp was slightly soggy and didn't stand out. * Al Pastor Tacos: Flavorful meat, though slightly salty -- still enjoyable overall. Final Thoughts This feels like a great place to grab drinks and hang out with friends rather than a must-visit for the food alone. That said, if the prices were more in line with the food, I'd easily give 4 stars. They offer a weekday happy hour, and I've heard good things about their lunch options, so I'd be open to coming back to try those. A fun, energetic spot with plenty of potential for casual nights out.

I was thinking of taking my friend here for his birthday-would this be a nice dinner date spot option or more like a bar ? neither of us are big drinkers

This is a great birthday spot but depends what you are looking for. Great food, drinks and party vibes but drinking not required:) Can be loud and crowded. Order the table side guac, quesadillas and street tacos!

I highly recommend requesting her if you dine in. The chips and salsa were good and we appreciate the three salsa options provided and plenty of chips to go around. I decided on the steak and chicken fajita's ($25) and a double Margarita ($9.50). Our food arrived in about 15 minutes, my fajitas came out sizzling just the way I like them, good job! The fajitas come with sides and you receive a good amount of food, no skimping. I was also able to sample one of their Quesada's, which was delicious. Vienna was kind enough to bring over some fresh Churro's and dipping sauce for the birthday song, and there was enough for everyone in our group to try, which was really nice. The Churro's were fresh, hot, had a great crunchy exterior, and perfect blend of seasoning. The restaurant is not really big so it can get crowded during peak times. It is beautiful inside and could make for a nice date night with the wife next time she wants something special. Pricing is a bit high when compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. I was completely satisfied with my meal and experience but know that you can find more affordable options if you are looking to save some $$$$. All-in-all, great experience, and I would recommend them.

The hostess, Tamia, was in the process of cleaning it but still took a moment to acknowledge us and let us know she would be right with us, which I appreciated. While we waited, more parties came in and the line quickly grew toward the door. There were other staff members nearby, but no one stepped in to help seat guests or manage the wait, which made things move slower than expected. Once we were seated, it took a while for our waiter to come to the table. The hostess actually came back to check on us and ask if we had been helped yet, which stood out. When our waiter did arrive, the first thing he mentioned was that last call would be soon since they close at 10. We had arrived around 9, so we went ahead and ordered both drinks and food at the same time. Service throughout the meal was slow. We ordered the trio for the table, and I got the puffy tacos, one beef and one chicken, with black beans and rice. My son ordered a chicken quesadilla, and another person in our party ordered street corn, birria tacos, and a passionfruit margarita. It took a while for the food to come out, and when it did, we didn't have any silverware. Our waiter didn't come back for a while, so we had to flag someone down just to be able to start eating. The trio was the highlight of the meal. The guacamole, salsa, and queso were all really good and definitely something I would order again. The rest of the food was just okay. The chicken taco lacked seasoning, while the beef taco was a bit over seasoned for my taste. The beans had an unusual flavor, and the rice tasted like it had been sitting for a while, which may have been due to the late hour. My son said the quesadilla was good. The birria tacos had a decent amount of meat, but the flavor was closer to roast beef than what you would expect from traditional birria. The passionfruit margarita was just okay and wasn't filled all the way to the top, which was noticeable. For the price, the overall experience didn't quite match the quality of the food and service. Between the slow service and inconsistent dishes, I would likely not return for a full meal. However, I would consider stopping by for takeout of the trio since that was the standout. They're like- cilantro allergy right? Hahahaha. Then they say us at two large tables in the back. Thank goodness because everyone had their kids so there were 5 adults and 4 kids. We had plenty of room back there for the kids to be kids. Our server was great. I had no idea they would tack on 20% tip to our bill, but she wasn't slacking. She was still earning that tip. She brought out chips and salsa and then got our drink order. That helped keep the kids occupied. My friend suggested the margarita flight- so I went for it. The menu is an iPad with pictures of everything but it's also a lot of clicking back and forth and kind of overwhelming. My friend loved the carnitas fajitas and got that again. She gave me a bite- the pork was in chunks but it was so flavorful and tender. I had the shrimp tacos- wow! There were four huge shrimp in each taco (3 tacos) so it was about 3/4 of a pound of shrimp or maybe even a pound! Mine came with a side of rice and beans- which you can adjust a little but not too many options exist. I did not want beans but I also did not want double rice lol. Hers came with the usual fajita stuff- lettuce, guac, salsa, cheese, and sour cream. Both dishes came with your choice of corn or flour tortillas The guys got the chicken fajitas and the molcajete, which came w the same platter of sides and tortillas. There was food everywhere. The kids got chicken tenders, black beans, refried beans, rice, white queso dip and macaroni and cheese. They all kinda shared and of course didn't finish their food. I think they got full on chips and salsa. The margarita flight I had has many choices for flavors. I got kiwi, coconut and blackberry. All were very good but all very sweet. They put a lot of syrup in there. I think you'd be better off just getting a regular margarita or one flavored one because the flight cups are smaller than typical margarita glasses. So if they're putting one squirt of syrup, it's probably too much for that little glass. So next time I'll just get the coconut margarita. They have churros and what not but we opted against dessert. The kids wanted ice cream from the place down the plaza (Violet's- it's great! See my review). We boxed up our leftovers (I couldn't eat all three tacos; I had one left, plus my rice and beans) and paid the tab. She was nice to split it up by family and I'm sure that was not easy! I did not use the restroom but most of us did. The restrooms look like singles but they're not. The women's has two stalls behind that door so don't get caught waiting in the hallway. Go inside. My friend's kid didn't wanna wait or couldn't wait so they went straight to the men's, thinking the women's was a one stall. Hahahaha. Parking is hard to find because it's a busy plaza. We had to park all the way down by Fishbones where the parking lot is a lot bigger. They have a front part of their restaurant which also has some bar seating and then that more quiet back room where we were seated. I would recommend this place. It's a little pricey for Mexican food but it's really good. (Also it's hard to mess us Mexican, I get it). I was impressed by the amount of shrimp in my tacos and the amount of pork carnitas and chicken fajitas they put on their platters. They also have quite a selection of flavors for their margs.

I asked my server about it and she said I'm sorry, but beans and rice are extra. I paid the bill without further disputing the charges because I did not want to make an issue of it at the time.
