Loved everything about our experience, Location was KEY! The house was in tip top shape. The only snag we ran into was the trash. Clearly the people before us did not put the trash out or take care of it so we had to load our cars and take it to Angelsea and drop it off. We rented a three bedroom condo through Don Martin Realty in the summer of 2019. The condo was clean, well stocked and just where we wanted to be in Wildwood. We had an issue with the garage door opener, called the office and a repairman was there within the hour. We had a good experience so naturally we went to them for a rental this year. Early in January we found a four bedroom where we wanted to be and sent in our deposit. Less than weeks later Diane sent a message that the unit might not be available later in the season because the owner said she is selling it and doesn't want any rentals hindering the sale. She offered us the option of picking another unit or a full refund. Because we could not find another four bedroom in our wanted area, we chose the refund. If Diane had waited until the sale had actually gone through we might not have had time to find another unit. We found a unit through VRBO for $1000 more a week. Next year we will check with Don Martin first because we would rather deal with a local company that has given us good service rather than a faceless online company. read more

Terrible customer service, not professional at all, withholds security deposit money without any documentation. 2 weeks went by following departure from our rental and our security deposit was not returned, after numerous follow ups, we received a response , was given a total amount being held for a alleged lost item, extra cleaning charges as well as a unknown maintenance fee. No receipt was provided to show replacement of the alleged lost item and no explanation as to what extra cleaning charges were for. It's apparent that extra cleaning was not done prior to our arrival as floors were filthy. Was advised by Don Martin office our case was closed and they have yet to have provided any receipts or responded to any further emails to support the money taken from the security deposit. read more

Rented a condo at Surf Song from Don Martin Reality and while the room was well decorated there was not a single staff member on premises. There were multiple unsupervised children at the pool who repeatedly jumped on and hurt members of my family including my youngest daughter. While I understand there is no life guard on duty for life saving purposes there should be staff members on site to address issues especially ones that involve guest safety. Beyond unacceptable to come on vacation and have members of our party injured and upset the first day. read more

Upon arrival we discovered several electrical problems and I was told by the repair man that an amateur had done the electrical work leaving me and my family exposed to risk of electrical shock. Apparently the amateur attached the hot cable to the case ground on the dryer. . When I complained about this I was dismissed and upon returning home we were further insulted by a "trash fee" of $100. This, after I put out seven cans full of their previous tenant's trash. Looks like my stay was a typical experience, from what others have reported here. Oh, and the address was 339E Pine Ave, Unit A. I saw that it went up for sale right after we rented. I simply replied to a VRBO listing which advertised "short stays" and odd "0wner blocks" asking if my dates were available. The reply was insulting and aggressive. Despite having a poor experience I wasn't going to write a review but since I just received a follow up email asking for one, here goes: We received our keys just fine, everyone was polite. After getting to our place we quickly realized that someone was still in our rental because there was loud music coming through the door. We called Don Martin and were told that the cleaning people were still there because the previous tenants really left the place trashed. We waited and finally got in to our rental about an hour and a half late and with three kids under the age of 5 seemed like an eternity after just making a 3 hour drive haha. The cleaning people were really nice and I could tell it wasn't there fault. Once getting in to the place you could definitely tell it wasn't totally taken care cove. Dishwasher was still full of dishes, dog hair all over the furniture, lightbulbs not working, clothing drawers not clean etc etc. I called and left a message for the agency and requested a call back that day. Needless to say I never received a call back. Not that day, not that week, not at all. So not only was the place not up to par but our check in time was pushed back. Needless to say our check out time was not changed.. After I got home a week went by and I realized the $500 dollar cleaning fee was not reimbursed. After multiple calls I finally got our deposit back. I forget the exact time but I think it was about a total of 3 weeks to get our deposit back. I'm pretty sure I blocked some other things out of my memory but all in all it was just really poor compared to other trips we've taken. Delayed check in, the rental was not clean nor did it really live up to the pictures as it was quite rough around the edges, very poor communication and late deposit returns. The communication was the largest frustration. When compared to other Air BnB/VRBO rentals I'm so used to have people very prompt to get back to you on any issue. I think this goes to show what throwing a rental agency in the middle does. You have people that just don't care as much as the actual owners. I'm not bitter and we still had fun but lesson learned as I won't be renting from Don Martin again. read more

Please allow me to expand just a little on Mike G's review, since I paid for the other half of the rental of that particular unit. As he said, there was food everywhere. Chips on the floor in the living room, 2 of the bedrooms and crushed up cake in the rug under the kitchen table and behind one of the chairs in the living room. The first night of our week my son decided to sit on his bed and the mattress fell right to the floor. One of the mattress supports had been broken in half. It wasn't like the previous renter went to a lot of trouble to hide it because the support was leaning in the corner of the room behind a chair. The main living space toilet was completely clogged. Nothing would go down, not even liquid. We decided to use the grill for dinner. It was lit for about 2 to 3 minutes and it was then totally engulfed in flames. It was completely on fire. After the fire went out, it appeared the grill hadn't been cleaned in about 2 years. The grease trap was filled to the top. We cleaned the grill. After all of this we decided to call the off hours help line at around 7:30pm of day 1. No one called us back. In the morning I called and spoke to a woman in the office. After explaining what was going on she proceeded to treat me as if I was lacking info on their afterhours line and asking why I didn't call it, "that's why we have it". I of course told her I called it and no one called back. Crickets. I then called Diane, who was the point person for the rental. I explained to her the level of cleanliness the unit was left for us. I requested that the entire unit be cleaned again. She said she would send the cleaning crew back and a maintenance person. A maintenance person showed up and fixed the bed but a plumber was needed for the toilet. The plumber came and told us about the bar of soap in it. The cleaning crew showed up and told my sister that she was the person that cleaned this unit the day before. Not exactly something to brag about after the job done. My sister was alone in the unit when they arrived. They started to vacuum the living room. My sister went to the bathroom and when she emerged, they were gone. They only vacuumed the living room rug and the rug under the kitchen table. The 2 bedrooms still had chips in the rug. I called Diane to thank her for the maintenance guy, the plumber and to tell her what the cleaning people did. She interrupted me and said, "You're not the name on the lease, I can't talk to you. When Mike is free have him call me", and hung up on me. I immediately called her back and she hung up on me again. She then texted me explaining why she hung up on me. Now, I'm completely aware that the realtor can't control the level of cleanliness renters show towards a unit. However, they should have a cleaning crew who leaves it in the proper state for the next renters. As Mike said, we paid a lot of money for that unit, it should not have been left in the state it was left for us. The realtor should've done more to make it right than send the maintenance guy over and place a call to a completely incompetent cleaning crew and then hang up on me. Mike was being kind in saying the realtor was unprofessional. He left out rude, inconsiderate, unapologetic, entitled, customer unfriendly, disreputable and unworthy of any future rentals. The shame of it is, the unit was very nice and in a fantastic location. If I could give negative stars I would. STAY AWAY! read more

Extremely poor experience with Don Martin Realty. From the staff, right up to the owner, this is a company that has no concept of what real customer service is or how to take care of renters so that they will return to properties that Don Martin Realty manages. We will not only never stay at this property while it is managed by them, but we will never stay ANYWHERE else managed by Don Martin Realty ever again. We recently stayed at A Shore View Condominiums, a North Wildwood property managed by Don Martin Realty, with another couple we are friends with. We have happily stayed at this location several times a year for the last few years, all under different management companies. This time was absolutely not enjoyable, not relaxing, and definitely made not worth the cost of staying, specifically due to the treatment and service we received by the staff, management and owner of Don Martin Realty. During our stay we dealt with: - Poor conditions in the unit managed by Don Martin Realty. (No door on the "private" bedroom and the dining area table leg collapsing and the table falling over on one of us. - The office manager, Debbie, being extremely rude and disrespectful to us when informed us the issues with the unit. We were told it wasn't her problem. She continued to get an attitude and chased one of us out of her office yelling all the way to the elevator. - When the office manager and maintenance man showed up to fix the door the next day, they unlocked the door and walked in without announcing themselves while we were changing in the bedroom and living room. I had actually just finished putting on my bathing suit when they walked in. - In speaking to Debbie's boss Carol at Don Martin, we were put off for over a week when asking for some sort of compensation for the inconveniences and disrespectful treatment we received. Every time we called her to check, she told us she was trying to contact the unit owner. - After asking several times, we finally got a phone call back from Don Martin himself. He told us that he didn't believe us and that he had no proof as to the behavior of his employee. When told that we would arrange for a board member of the condo association to bring the video from the office to him, he told us he didn't care and didn't want to see it. He would not be compensating us at all for the trouble we dealt with. The ONLY pluses to staying at this building had nothing to do with Don Martin Realty and everything to do with the building itself. The location, (beach block and within walking distance of the NWW entertainment district), resident owners of several units were very friendly and welcoming, pool was great, building itself has pluses throughout. If Don Martin Realty wasn't the rental program and maintenance manager, I would gladly stay here every time I came to NWW. Very unprofessional. We had several issues with our rental unit which were not properly handled. I don't expect everything to be perfect but i do expect them to be fixed. Our contact Diane didn't seem like she cared at all. Even hung up on us at one point. Unit was extremely dirty , cleaning people even came back a second time and place looked no better than before. There was a bar a soap stuck in toilet which should have been picked up on by cleaners but wasn't. We paid a lot of money for our unit and don't expect to be treated that way. Diane is extremely meticulous, professional and highly responsive. She wants you to have a wonderful stay and we always do! False and misleading condo listing; Terrible customer service from the agency and absolute dismissal of the issues by the broker, Diane Herman. We stayed in 403 E. 18th Ave, Unit 4B, Wildwood, NJ, in August 2017. This unit could have been great. It was furnished comfortably & the location was superb. However, it was not in rentable condition & the agency didn't care that they misled us in their listing or rented a condo with known problems. Severely Leaking Fridge:We arrived late on a Sat & drove to their office on Sun morning. In person, I asked the office clerk if she was familiar with the property. She replied, "No." I then informed her that the fridge was leaking tremendously & I had already mopped out the shelves & the overflow on the floor. She didn't even blink an eye, when she immediately responded that the owner has a fridge on order. She clearly was well aware of the issues with the condo. I continued to mop out the fridge daily as it was leaking from the icemaker into the fridge terribly. The top shelf was entirely unusable. The next shelf down was also unusable if you didn't keep after the water as the leak proof shelves couldn't hold that much liquid. The cleaners had put hand towels under the fruit/veggie bins at the bottom of the fridge & those had to be washed & replaced during the week. NO OUTDOOR SHOWER! The condo was listed as having a PRIVATE, ENCLOSED outdoor shower. This is a requirement when staying at the beach. When we looked around, we found 4 outdoor showers, all marked for the other 4 units. There was not an outdoor shower for 4B. It took 4 days, several phone calls to the agency & texts with Diane before we learned that 4B had an OPEN (not enclosed or private) outdoor shower. We began looking around again & found a rusted pipe on a wall that did not have running water or a showerhead. The agency blamed Diane for listing it wrong saying "we don't have any control over what she puts in the listing." Diane blamed the owners, claiming that no other renters complained about this all summer & that the owners were "off her list" & turned off the water just a week before when they stayed there themselves. Impossible...the shower pipe was rusted over & clearly hadn't been used in a very long time. DMR offered to send their repair guy over to "turn on the shower." We agreed knowing full well that wouldn't be possible. He of course reported that it wasn't a quick fix & needed to be fully replaced. The lack of outdoor shower explained the slow drain in the master bath shower. Our ankles were covered in water within 5 minutes in the shower. Gross. Diane suggested we use the neighbor's showers-wow! Explains why the other outdoor showers had key or combo locks on them. 2nd Floor Condo advertised as 1st Floor: A 1st floor condo with minimal stairs was a requirement for my MIL who has hip issues. The pics on the listing showed the entrance as having approx 6 steps up to the door of the condo. Perfect! Except Diane used a picture of the entrance for a different unit...seriously! 4B had 23 steps. Since parking was under the condos, this was effectively a 3rd floor walkup. Very difficult for senior citizens & young toddlers. Broken Trundle Bed: On Sun morning, in person, I informed the office clerk, as a precaution, that we found the faceplate of the trundle bed in a closet instead of actually installed on the trundle. I showed her a picture I had taken. I'm not new to condo rentals & how quickly owners like to blame renters for damage, especially at the end of the summer. She made note of the "broken" bed, which we weren't using anyways. The bed itself wasn't an issue for us until a week after our vacation ended. Then I received a phone call from Susan at DMR saying the owners were blaming us for breaking the trundle bed! I reminded her that I informed the office clerk and showed her pictures. I emailed Susan the photos I had taken & she assured me I would receive a full refund of my deposit. Security Deposit: I had to ask 3x. I finally stopped asking & waited to see if they would breach the contract which allows them 30 days to refund. They pushed the limit at 25 days before it was finally refunded. Over 3 weeks to refund my deposit when I was assured after only one week that I would receive a full refund. This condo did not meet my requirements for a vacation & had it been correctly advertised as being a 2nd floor condo without an outdoor shower, I would have skipped past the listing & rented something else. I asked them to refund a portion of our rental fee for the false advertising & they refused. Not even a goodwill gesture of $100 after giving them over $2K for the condo. I asked for a call from Don Martin but never received one. Diane, who was super nice during the rental process snapped at me when I called her about the outdoor shower. Can't give zero but it is a zero with Don Martin Realty. We paid for a rental with Diane Herman over 2200. We canceled in advance as someone was hurt. They were able to rent the property again. We never recieved a dime back. They have been telling us they are refunding but we haven't seen anything. They give you the run around and are not truthful and there is no follow up about anything accept to argue and to discredit the renter. Buyer beware. Stay away. read more

After it became apparent this was serious we contacted don Martin an joy told us don't worry we will keep you informed there's no need to cancel. Now me an part of my family live in Arizona an fly in every summer to rent a place on the Jersey shore. This was our first an last time using don Martin. My daughter called a couple of weeks ago to say we don't feel safe flying across the country an staying in a place we have no idea who was staying there before. Well miss Joy told us too late sorry you have to fly but we will not refund you your money. When her emails she was sending to my daughter said a different story. Now I have to use my attorney to go after them an the owners of 420 16 street in north wildwood to try an get my money back funny how. Had no problems with the airlines they were very nice.
