Finally a good Colombian restaurant close to home. We went on a Sunday around 1:30pm. It wasn't crowded and we quickly chose our table. The waitress came right away with the menu boards, which I thought were really cool because they have pictures of all the dishes. We chose "Picada" $27.99, "Bistec a Caballo" $19.50 and "Pechuga de pollo empanizada" $17.50 plus an extra portion of "Tostones" until our food arrived. It took a while for the food to be ready for a restaurant that wasn't crowded but when it arrived it was delicious. All of the meats at Picada were juicy and not dry like in other restaurants we tried. Everything was very tasty and well seasoned. Very good restaurant! Came here because of the great Yelp reviews. The restaurant was sooo cold. I went with my son. No paper towels in the bathroom even after letting them know twice. Service was a bit slow. The food was delicious! I wish I could've gotten queso blanco on my arepa instead of mozzarella but the huevos pericos and calentado were delicious. I came to pickup an order and it took a while to prepare. The music was fun to listen to. What makes this a 5 star review was that the guy offered me some coffee and thanked me for waiting . I rate at as 5 star for food, service and ambiance. The food is great here. I usually order the rib soup, but is only available weekends. The waitress said no soup today, is a Tuesday. A cute lil restaurant in an unsuspecting strip mall is what I love about local places. This Colombian restaurant is a hidden gem that may see hard to spot from the street. So right off the bat service was great! The arepa con chicharron was great they were so tasty, had a little crunch... a little chew. They come with a plate of different dips like sauces, salt, and lime. My mom ordered the Lomo Saltado and I had the Sobrebarriga. Unfortunately, my mom thought the Lomo was a little too salty and I would have to agree. The flavor profile was incredible but yes a tad too much salt for us. The Sobrebarriga was flavorful and complimented all the side dishes we got very well. My mother was a much bigger fan of that one! HOLY GUACAMOLE, yes the guac was fantastic! SO MUCH FLAVOR, so fresh, went great with the chicharrón! HIGHLY Recommend getting it! Was in the mood for Spanish food so decided to try out this Colombian restaurant by my job. Food was definitely authentic Colombian cuisine, very tasty and seasoned well. I was surprised at how even the plain white rice was seasoned enough and didn't require beans on top. I ordered the Churrasco Aguacatala, which came with tostones, white rice and a potato salad that was simply delicious. My friend ordered the Pechuga de Pollo Empanizado which was also very tasty. The food came out pretty quickly and the service was great. I will def be visiting this restaurant again soon. If your in the sunrise area and looking for good Spanish food this is the place to go. Doesn't look like much from the outside but believe me you won't be disappointed. They have some Latin music and a big projector with the music videos playing. We had the cheese empanadas and beef empanadas as appetizers. We were told they are made in house. Wow! Delicious! Love the arepa outer shell. They brought us some Colombian sauce which was a little spice, but definitely took the empanadas up another notch. For dinner we had the bandeja paisa, the churrasco with guacamole and the carne asada. Everything was super flavorful. The churrasco was amazing. The frijoles colorados that come with the bandeja paisa were delish. There's a lot of food for your money. The only reason that I didn't give them 5 stars was because the servers forgot to bring us a few things even though we asked for them (some additional plates, spoons) They were extremely friendly regardless. I've been wanting to try this place. It's close by my house and conveniently located with plenty of parking and seating. I usually go to El Balcon De Las Américas, but it's farther away. We went on Friday night, it wasn't very busy but were warmly greeted and told to sit wherever we wished. Looks very clean and modern with a few tables and booths. Waitress came over promptly and gave us menus and took our drink order. I had a fresh natural mango juice and my wife a lemonade. We looked over the menu but opted for our usual Colombian fare. My wife chose the bandeja paisa and I had sancocho de costilla. Mine was the soup with short rib and vegetables, it comes with rice, tostones and a salad. Hers was rice beans, steak a chicharrón and a chorizo also came with fried plantains and avocado and an arepa. Every thing was very well done and service was quick and attentive. Don Matias is either a relatively new Colombian restaurant or they just joined Yelp. Either way, my coworkers and I chose this place for our team lunch last week. There were 6 of us and we were seated right away. The restaurant is very clean and spacious. The layout of the place is much more organized than small Colombian restaurants that I've been to in the past. Our server was decent. She spoke Spanish to the entire table even though some teammates clearly had no idea what she was saying. I'm sure they would've appreciated a little more effort on her part. Not sure if she knew English at all or just felt more comfortable speaking Spanish. We were given complimentary beef empanadas which were very tasty. I was in the mood for breakfast so I ordered a cheese arepa with scrambled eggs, and an additional order of French fries. This plate was ok. The cheese on top of the arepa was the most flavorful thing and the fries were kinda soggy. The general consensus of the table was that the food was lacking in flavor. To start this place is just great. Came in here to Don Matias with my Friday lunch crew of 8 people. We ended up driving around and going in the parking lot of this old strip center that I've driven past 100 times and deciding I was gonna pick one of the restaurants in this center, really didn't have any type of food in mind but we did a quick Yelp review of the possibilities and picked this Columbian restaurant. Sure am glad I did, the strip center is certainly not that great and the interior of the restaurant is sort of typical Latin flair, clean colorful and nice enough but nothing really special. The service though is simply outstanding I think our table had the only non Hispanic people in the place, full house with nearly every table occupied during lunch and the waitress starting talking Spanish and then I helped my colleagues with their ordering as the waitress didn't seem to try to speak English (that's OK though cause good service makes up for it). The waitress brought us some empanadas for everyone to enjoy while we waited for our food. That, my friends, will put a smile to your face any day. I ended up ordering the Bandeja Paisa (seems to be the thing everywhere but i enjoy it) fried plantain, some awesome fried fat on a bone thing all which was simply delicious, everything about it, lots of different flavors and really a fun and lively atmosphere, fun place to eat.
