Before the appointment, Seida repeatedly assured me the office would submit a pre-estimate to insurance and only charge me my patient responsibility amount. After multiple calls with my insurance company, it was discovered Brighter Dental had been faxing the paperwork to the wrong number. The issue was finally corrected during a conference call with insurance and the office. Despite the pre-estimate being approved before my appointment, I was told by Seida and Luca that I had to pay the full amount upfront or they would not proceed. Seida claimed no memory of the aforementioned conference call, and I had no choice but to pay or remain untreated and in pain. At my follow-up appointment, insurance had already paid the claim electronically, but the office delayed reimbursing the overpayment and gave conflicting timelines for a refund. They also refused to refund the original credit card and insisted on mailing a check instead. After repeated vague promises and no reimbursement, I was forced to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Due to their refusal to honor the insurance allowed amounts, I overpaid by several hundred dollars. I later received a threatening letter accusing me of fraud because of the charge dispute, even though the office had still not refunded the overpayment at the time of the dispute. This was a disturbing experience.

He is honest and thorough, and isn't out to rip-me-off. He also has a great sense of humor and is a genuinely nice person, so that's a bonus. His dental hygienists are great as well - last time one straight up called my teeth boring (which is a compliment, because brushing and flossing work and there wasn't much for her to clean). I've referred many friends to him over the years, and they say great things and many continue to still see him. I moved out of Lincoln Park 8 years ago and I could go to a dentist near me, but I still go out of my way to see Dr. Flak and his team. I cannot recommend him enough!

The two that I have had in the last few visits were not friendly, and on my most recent visit two weeks ago the hygienist was very abrupt and I told her to be gentler when she was doing the flossing but she just brushed it off. Every single time in the last 20 years that I have been in for my six month cleaning, Dr. Flak has come in to do an exam. This last time he didn't and he was there because I saw him in the next exam room. When I asked the hygienist if Dr. Flak was going to come in and do an exam she said "no, he'll do that next time in September". It looks like I'm going to have to find another dentist. Typically, I trust the dentist when they recommend a procedure…read more Last year, when a dentist at Diversey Dental Studio suggested that I get Invisalign to eliminate the need for a night guard I took a pass. Especially when she said that my bottom teeth would require bonding following the Invisalign treatment. For the record- I have no complaints about the night guard. I responded that if I wanted to have my teeth straightened, I would see an orthodontist and get regular braces. Her face fell, and she stuttered a bit. That indicated to me that the $$ she was hunting for had flown out the window. Let me say that I have two generous dental insurance policies, and my gut tells me that this thirst for money motivates the dentists at Diversey Dental Studio. It always feels like I'm getting an upsell from them. Not good. I did not heed my inner voice and returned for a cleaning. Another dentist informed me that I needed to replace the filling on tooth #15 and needed a crown on a broken upper molar. I spent 2.5 hours in the chair to have both procedures done. After she filled tooth #15 it had a divot in the middle that was so deep I could fit half a tic-tac inside it. When I asked why it wasn't flat she said that she was a "perfectionist" and made the shape more like a natural tooth. Um, okay. To make matters worse, a third of my night guard broke off when I tried it following the procedures. I returned a week later to have the crown filed down and told the dentist that the crowned tooth was sensitive, and I had not been able to chew on it. She filed down the crown and filed a lower crown beneath the molar which covered a (very expensive) implant. She filed the teeth down so much that they no longer meet! She told me to wait two weeks to see if the sensitivity lessened. After two more weeks of not being able to chew on the right side of my mouth I made an appointment with Diversey Dental Studio's owner Dr. Jacqueline Rodriguez who confirmed that the upper molar and lower tooth no longer meet. This was causing additional pain in another lower tooth due to the misalignment of my bite. Rodriguez prescribed steroids and said I may need a root canal. She referred me to an endodontist that had many bad reviews that mentioned price gouging, so I ignored her recommendation and returned to my "old" dentist, "Dr. A" a few days later. Well, Dr. A. who has over 20 years' experience, said that I need antibiotics not steroids. He said that the filling that the Diversey dentist replaced on tooth #15 (for $433) seemed questionable as he had filled that tooth (for $150) in January 2023 with very strong composite material. Dr. A. repaired the divot that the "perfectionist" left me with and he sent me to an excellent endodontist for a root canal and he urged me to do it soon. Do the dentists at Diversey Dental have amazing resumes and an excellent bedside manner? Yes. Are they trying to pay off their student loans by padding the treatment plans? Perhaps. Do I trust them with my teeth? Never Again.

Quite frankly I think 80% of Chicago dentists have to record a session of Dr.Nili's work and watch it everyday and learn from his way of treating patients. I wish I had found him sooner. He explains the procedures for you in a nice way, he is extremely cautious of you and your pain, and makes sure you are as comfortable and relax as possible. and does his best to save your tooth from unnecessary operations and your money. he is very very gentle when dealing with your body, sometimes I feel like he can feel exactly what I feel, and knows when I will have pain before I know and prevents it. he is very professional, very polite, very clean, and patient and cautious of your health . treats you like he would treat his own teeth. Both of the repetitions (Eva and Ana) are very polite and nice and happy, anytime I see them they are in a good mood and try to help you with best they can, and that's very hard job, since they have to deal with insurance complexities. however they do need a new fax machine ( their fax machine doesn't work sometimes)

Dr. Tiffany has decades of experience and a true professional. In addition to cleanings I also had a problem tooth that OPFD helped me with. It ended up needing a root canal and they referred me to an Endodontist and I was seen that same day. I was able to finish with the crown here and the whole process was easy and smooth.
