Dr. Purdue is terrific. Great bedside manner. I've been going to him for 20 years and trust him completely.

He's a very kind, knowledgeable & experienced general dentist and one of the few who takes Medicaid (at least this was the case in 2017). So when I came in with sudden toothache pain, he took me as a walk-in. He only charged a nominal fee for the X-ray & to explain what was the problem. He does other services like bonding, veneers, mercury filings replacement, dentures among many other things. I would go see him first before any other dentist for fixing chipped/broken teeth as I suspect most other places charge astronomical prices (based on my research thus far).

My wife has been going to this dentist for a few years. One day I noticed that it only takes her and my daughter like 45 minutes total. So I decided to give her dentistry a try. First, I was happy to be able to get a Saturday appointment. Secondly, they were able to get my 11 year old's teeth spotless! That's a feat within itself. Third, including fresh X-ray's, I was in and out of the chair in about 20 minutes. He praised me for having pearly whites! Last, because of my insurance and their pricing structure, I wouldn't have to pay anything for a standard cleaning (I always had a co-pay at my rich dentist)! * The only *minor* complaint is I think they should provide glasses for all cleanings. I did bring this up to them. They assured me that they do provide glasses for specialty work. I suggested at least offering for all. Kids would think its cool. The equipment wasn't super new, but it wasn't super old either- which is to say it didn't squeak or fall apart! Lol. It didn't bother me at all. To conclude, I'll be coming back.

Not the Same Practice Anymore…read more We used to love coming to this office when it was run by Dr. Turnwald and his team. My kids actually enjoyed going to the dentist, and the entire staff was fantastic. About a year ago, I was having tooth pain and called to set up an appointment, and I was pleasantly surprised to get in the same day. However, when I showed up, I found out the entire old staff and Dr. Turnwald had left, and the practice had been sold to a new doctor--without any notice. Even the text and email confirmations still had the old dentist's name, so it was pretty frustrating to show up and find an entirely new staff and doctor. While the new staff was nice and the doctor was okay, the whole experience felt off-putting since I booked the appointment thinking it was still my family's trusted dentist. I also really missed my old hygienist, who always made visits easy for my kids. Honestly, had they been more upfront about the change when I called, it might not have left such a sour taste in my mouth. But now, I drive 30 minutes out of my way to see Dr. Black, where she has her own practice, and it's worth it for the care we receive. Most of the positive Yelp reviews here are for the old practice under Dr. Turnwald, and it says a lot that the entire staff left when he did. We've since followed Dr. Black to new office, and our family is much happier for it.

I felt like I was not reassured during the process and when it was over I did not receive physical written instructions about the aftercare. The assistant verbally explained that I was to not drink from straws and nothing more, so I was not aware that I was supposed to avoid spitting and other precautions. They did not provide me with gauze either. I walked down to discuss financial payment and after being fresh out of surgery and numbed up, it was a bit difficult to speak. The woman at the desk was very rude and informed me I owed $300-400 I can not recall the specific amount and I was confused and explained that I have insurance to cover it. She rudely spoke to me and demanded I paid and I asked her to bill the rest later and she said no. My friend with me was listening to the conversation, but did not know specifics so she couldn't speak for me. I went on to tell the front desk worker if I could talk to my dad on the phone in which I ended up handing her my phone to speak to him and then she proceeded to change her mind and say it was okay to be billed later. I take my phone back and keep profusely apologizing as I explained that I was pulling up the credit card number information and she kept ignoring me. I finally found the card number and handed her my phone and she took it and slammed in on her table. Following this unfortunate encounter, I went home and was bleeding for a long time about more than a day, so I have a feeling that the Doctor rushed the surgery and I bruised and swelled pretty bad. I did not notice this as abnormal, but recently got my wisdom teeth out somewhere else and I am healing a whole lot better. I would also brush my teeth and blood clots would come out for a while. It was later found out that the woman incorrectly billed our insurance and we were expected a refund. The next time I tried to book for my other 2 wisdom teeth they would not answer my mom on the phone and said they would call us back but never did. They had us waiting around and when we finally demanded they give us a price estimate, as I am now double insured, they would provide with different number estimates every time and said they would call back in the early morning when they opened. They finalized that she could not come up with a proper estimate of the cost, but that if I got the surgery I would not have to pay the day of the surgery. It all seemed like an odd situation and I decided to go to a different place and they gave me an upfront estimate immediately which I paid at the moment of my pre operation. Overall, very poor establishment and I would not recommend.
