After reviewing the scope of the project, it was estimated that it would take a week and a half to complete. Not only did it take over a month to eventually complete, the days that the team would work were unpredictable. On several occasions, as the team would leave for the day, they would tell us they will be back tomorrow, and then not show up. Or, they wouldn't be able to tell us when they would come next, and would surprise us a few days later. They ended up needing to complete this project after I had delivered my baby (original timeline would've been completed weeks prior to my due date). Additionally, we noticed there were a few design decisions that were made without consulting us, like the drywall of the shower/re-installation of the water gauge (it's now not flush with the wall and very loose) and the selection of tile at the base of the shower that doesn't match the floor. He had offered to come fix the water gauge, but after coming to look at the issue, he has not gotten back to us in 5 weeks. I had high hopes for this project, and while it still looks nice, the lack of communication made it really difficult to want to recommend Peter or use his team again for future projects.

This meant a demo of wood, demo of tile, new carpentry, new tile, reinstall of a fixture, additional pipe, and new baseboards. We decided (without any pressure for add-ons) to extend the work to the whole bathroom floor instead of just the localized area. So our results feel like not just a repair, but a remodel. Things that stood out: Communication - We felt the main point of contact, Anthony, was clear and helpful through the whole process. This is true of every crew member we interactacted with as well. Questions were answered patiently, things were explained clearly, we new what to expect next, there were no overpromises. Everyone that came into our home was respectful. Our input was sought at appropriate times, and we were shown progress consistently. Execution - Everyone seemed competent and capable of the tasks at hand. The results look good, feel good, and inspire confidence. If there was a mess made, it was promptly cleaned up. If there was a concern, it was handled appropriately. Initially I was a little skeptical of the proposed timeline but after seeing the work in action it made sense and was accurate. I would advise any others to just be ready to communicate a little, and inspect the results at each stage, since there might be use of different crews for one stage or another. As for Mike himself, he's detail-oriented and hungry to grow his business based on actually being good and delivering a good product. A great bonus for me was Mike's usage of modern web-based project tracking and collaboration tools; he always had all the answers and there was never a miscommunication. My wife and I had a non-trivial renovation planned: removing a wall, relocating the entire kitchen, staircase carpentry replacement, hardwood floor refinish on the first floor, and replacing carpet with hardwood on the second floor. Almost everybody you talk to has some kind of contractor horror story that ends in a protracted lawsuit or the contractor skipping town with the down payment, or worse! My research led me to Ambrose Builders, and I'm glad it did; the process couldn't have gone smoother for such a large and varied project. Special shout-outs to the general carpenter (also named Mike) for doing tons of big projects plus all the little finishes that really tie everything together, and to the flooring guys, they went ham and finished their part in less than 2 weeks. Electricity, plumbing, and HVAC was done accurately and passed (notoriously fickle) building codes easily. Mike puts his name on the sign because he rightly stakes his professional reputation on his work. You won't find a better contractor, so you might as well stop looking now.
