I visited this establishment on Monday, 4/21/25 during the evening rush hour. This is a small store in a strip mall and parking was easily accessed. Upon entering the store, I passed two staff members, neither of whom replied to me when I said hello, even though they exchanged eye contact with me, so I know they heard me. I was in search of only one item, Thai Basil, to accompany my homemade Pho Ga. I did not browse the store, I went straight to the produce section, and of the four available packages of Thai Basil, I found only one that was semi-acceptable. It did have several leaves which would have to be discarded, but I needed this item and this was the second store I visited for this item, so I decided to purchase it as is. The cost of one small package of Thai Basil was $4.00, which is very high for the quantity, especially compared to other Asian Markets. Overall, with the lack of good customer service, the high produce price, and the poor quality of the produce, I will not be returning to this store. read more

This is probably my favorite asian market around. They have so much good stuff. The kimchi is fresh and delicious, the service is always nice. The onigiri has never failed me and they have korean corn dogs and tteokbokki and a whole ramen bar. It's well organized and it's just fun and nice to shop in. The radish kimchi is my favorite. Not a bad sized Asian market. The Seki Korean restaurant is at the back. I saw my favorite honey twists, spicy shrimp crackers and even our favorite Sichuan peanuts too. I also bought a barley tea since the water at the restaurant. They also have tuna and crab salad samgak (triangle) kimbap (seaweed rice). Neither were so good. Bland too. Tried the Korean Fried Chicken. Super flavorful and juicy. Only three complaints: Hate the radish on top, it's very salty (so it'll be hard if you don't have a drink), and the seasoning, while well seasoned, it's coated on the outside and not within the breading, so sometimes if you hit an overly seasoned patch, it's either overwhelming or gritty. I mostly go for their banchan, which they have a large selection of. I also go for the mushrooms, specifically maitake (hen of the woods). They always have pre-prepared meals and onigiri too. The Korean hot dogs I got the original mozzarella and the hot Cheetos one with mozzarella and they were both absolutely delicious and the place was very clean and where you would get the hot dogs was very pretty and a whole vibe, and the people were very nice and friendly. After being away from Lexington for a few years, I came back to try this place again as it had been one of my favorites in town. I was disappointed to find out that either the quality and taste of the food was not as good as it was 2 years ago, or after traveling around Asia and eating real Asian food this just could not compare. This is my first time in the store/ restaurant. The store was compact with a variety of items that tended towards Korean and Chinese offerings with a few items from other South Asian countries. Specifically, I found a Massaman curry mix, one of my favorite Thai curries. We ate lunch in the restaurant, which continues full dinner menu with 1 daily $7.99 lunch combo option. The food was not as spicy as I am used to. I imagine the flavors have been adjusted downward to accommodate local tastes. For me Dong Yang is where I go for my Sriracha, Sambal, things of that nature, a variety of noodles. They have Japanese eggplant as well which is usually not available in your basic supermarket. Oddly, too, they sell Café du Monde coffee from the famous café in New Orleans, and cheaper at $6.99 than anywhere else, if you can find it. These are some of things that I find worthwhile to me at Dong Yang. Go, explore the shelves, and find something new and out of your comfort zone. read more

When you go to the back of an American grocery store you will find fried chicken and meatloaf. When you go to the back of this grocery you find bib im bop, ban chan and other Korean favorites. I like fried chicken, who doesn't, but how many fat Koreans have you ever seen. Ok, besides Psy. This grocery was the cleanest Asian market of any kind I've ever been in. Floors, walls, ceilings all very clean. Someone cares a great deal about this place. My only suggestion is that I wish they had a lunch menu. Slightly smaller portions for a little less. As a restaurant, I felt priveledged to have a friend to take me here(it's hidden in the back of the grocery store). I was very pleased with my vegetarian version of BiBimBop with tofu. The gochujang sauce wasn't as spicy as I've had with the Vegan Zombie recipe(from youtube). The sauce was in a container at the table so you could add as much or as little as you desire. Very tasty Korean food. I got the ja jang myun and my partner got the stone pot bi bim bap without beef. We had enough food for leftovers and the prices were comparable to Koreana's; I think my dish was $11. Waiter was helpful, explaining what each of the little dishes were that he brought out before our meal. I particularly liked the cabbage kimchi, the black beans, and a sweet radish dish. Service was quick and my ja jang myun was awesome. The waiter wasn't too sure what kinds of meat were in it, and the menu didn't mention meat at all for this dish, so be warned. It definitely had tiny shrimp in it and I think pork and also squid, from the texture. The waiter agreed squid was likely because he said they put squid in a lot of their dishes. The only tricky part is if you're a vegetarian, because most dishes come with beef or pork. The bi bim bap can be made vegetarian and I think vegan, but even dishes that don't mention meat like the ja jang myun come with meat in them. I didn't see any chicken dishes listed. I appreciated that the meat in my dish was very finely chopped, so I got a good mixture in each bite. The noodles and the brown sauce were very tasty. The menu is smaller than Koreana's. The food is tastier than Arirang Garden's. I would put this place on par quality-wise with Koreana and Han Woo Ri. Very pleasant, clean atmosphere in the restaurant, which is in the back of the grocery. We had fun browsing the grocery after we ate and I found several neat Asian candies for reasonable prices. read more

Supermarket was clean and choices aplenty. We tried the restaurant at the back. Excellent Korean food. Very Authentic and homestyle. Side dishes were aplenty and very tasty; every single one. Seafood pancake was amazing, light and airy. Much better than Arirang Garden's. Jam pong was very good and loaded with seafood. Broth was delicious. Pork bone soup had a very nice flavour. Only thing that stops me from giving 5 stars is that there was way too much potato in the Pork bone soup, with not enough meat and soup because of that. My main take away (Besides the food being AMAZING, both during M-F lunch and over the weekends) is that the staff is absolutely, without question, stand out among other restaurants in town. Their diligence to ensure you are satisfied, understanding and generosity goes above and beyond. You absolutely will not find another restaurant in town where the staff is more appreciative of you being there and fully ready to show it. I went to shop for groceries, not eat in the Seki Restaurant. I was there on a Sunday when Seki is closed. I was impressed with the cleanliness, variety of products and reasonable prices. Great Mochi options, Noodle options (a lot) and Kimchi. I will definitely return for specialty grocery items and to try Seki! And I think its important to note that the staff was friendlier than those at the Yu Yu Supermarket. read more
