Update 12/03/24: I…read morewas looking to have an order delivered and after viewing their online menu, I had a couple of questions to ask before I could decide if this establishment still offered food options which I could consume. I called and spoke with Wong, and he assured me they still offer gluten-free items. I then asked if they have Pho Ga (chicken broth with chicken as the protein), as I am not a fan of Pho Bo (beef broth with beef as the protein). He said it's not on the menu, but when placing the online order, I could select Beef Pho and add notes stating I wanted chicken broth and chicken as the protein, so that is what I did. I also ordered a gluten-free veggie roll, and had it delivered. The food arrived before the expected delivery time, which was a plus. When I opened my containers, I was surprised and disappointed that the broth was not the chicken broth I ordered, but beef instead. They do offer chicken and rice soup on the menu, so I assumed they had chicken broth, especially after I was instructed to add the instruction notes to my order. The noodles, chicken, and accompaniments were all fresh, but all thrown together in one big pile in the container. This is more of a preference thing for me, as I am accustomed to having them all separate, but this is not a deal breaker by any means. I must say, the chicken was truly divine, succulent even, very moist, and that is difficult to manage for chicken breast. I did try the beef broth, and I did not like it. The gluten-free veggie roll was all grease, I took one bite and the grease oozed out of it. Needless to say it was placed in the bin. I'm not giving up on this establishment, but will go in person to place my orders in the future.

We ordered Mongolian Beef, lo mein noodles and steamed dumplings …read more I wasn't impressed with the Mongolian Beef ( maybe I'm biased because I am born and raised in New York and used to eating in China Town). It just wasn't what I thought it would be. For me the flavor just wasn't there . But the lo mein noodles were really good and we enjoyed them. As for the dumplings we enjoyed those as well. But I didn't like the dipping sauce they came with. This was our first time trying PF Chang and to be honest I don't see a repeat but I get other people love this place . My wife ordered a dessert then 20 minutes later they come back and say they are out of that dessert. Where she proceeded to tell her that wasn't a problem she didn't want one now. The server said "you have to get a dessert" because there was a special going on. So then we had to sit and wait even LONGER just to get a dessert to go. The ambiance was in shambles because they didn't honor anyone's reservation!Absolutely disgusting service we will never be back. The whole place is an embarrassment to the restaurant industry.

I haven't written a BW review in a while. It's still tough out there for mom & pops. Shop (and…read moreeat/drink) local. One of the best parts of the holidays is time with friends in the hometown. Knowing that we wanted a place to sit, eat and chat leisurely, my friends decided on a familiar stretch of Bardstown Road and a new (to me) Taiwanese spot. We came on a Wednesday afternoon and, lucky for us, that meant a lunch special: spring roll, soup, rice, and entree for a reasonable price. Cool. What wasn't cool, unfortunately, was near everything else. Despite it being unseasonably warm, the dining room was pretty empty. Good for us, right? Privacy. Great service. Nope. Our server started off annoyed and got worse from there. When we did see her, she was terse ( at best). We didn't see her that often (so, maybe that was a net positive). And even though the restaurant was smack dab in the middle of Louisville's lefty HQ, a party with vegetarian, GF and other dietary needs was met with indifference (at best) to low-key hostility (probably more accurate). So what was intended to be a leisurely lunch over green tea and other goodies became a rushed meal of steamed rice with mixed vegetables in garlic sauce (fine). And green tea (refreshing and the basis for the 3 stars). Everyone has a bad day; I get that. It's too bad that my experience with The Joy Luck was on one of those days and there won't be an opportunity to turn that frown upside down (theirs and mine).

My husband didn't like his soup so he sent it back for a house salad instead. 25 minutes later, still no salad. We had to ask for it. Fried rice came out cold. Veggie Spring Rolls did not taste like what we expected. Not good. Server was nowhere to be found so my husband walked the cold fried rice back to the kitchen himself. Crispy Honey Chicken and Crispy Honey Shrimp was probably the best thing we had tonight.

A party of three, all using a walking cane, were led to a table in the bar. Tight booths 6-8 inches above the floor. This is where I blame myself for not saying this is unacceptable and that we wish to sit at a table in the dining room that's on level ground. After squeezing in we realize that this table consisted of two wine glasses and an empty soy sauce container. After the server/bartender took our drink order for water, service slowed down. We were handed three beautifully designed laminated menus and after looking it over, I asked about their advertised special; a three course meal for $20 each. After looking a little perplexed, she left went into the main dining room and returned with one brand new laminated menu describing the three course meal special. We three disabled seniors ordered two hot and sour soups, and one egg drop. For the main course, I ordered beef lo mein, and my wife and her friend ordered a spicy shrimp meal. The soup arrived in a reasonable amount of time, about 10 minutes. But after my wife and her friend tasted their soup, they said, no thanks. Being an old retired military Vet. I decided to just doctor up the soup. Every combat, Vet knows how to do this. No, it wasn't Tabasco sauce. I informed the server that the soy sauce was an empty container. And it would be nice to have some silverware for the meal. Getting back to the egg drop and Hot and sour soups. They complained that they were watered down so much that they had no flavor, but to the chef's defense, there was plenty of stock, but a far cry from Pf Chang, of not too long ago. So now my little princess and her friend asked to replace their bland watered down soup with a salad. Which consisted of lettuce only with some dressing, about the size of a child dish. It took 15 minutes for the "small" salad, which looked like a pregnant teacup. The main course was brought to us 15 minutes later. it was at this time that it dawned on me that the server was inexperienced at being a server other than liquor. The restaurant was half empty and the speed of the service was slow for that condition. I may be wrong, but my family has been involved in the restaurant business for over thirty years. My son is a restaurant Manager here in Louisville. This is strictly my opinion, but if management was having her fill-in for an absent server, only temporarily, it was obvious, but if she did hold both positions, pf Chang is in need of new management. My beef lo mein, after being doctored up, was quite good. But again, my wife and her friend thought that their tiny shrimp, about the size of a nickel, in shape and size, was not very appealing. In the past, shrimp described the food more than its size. After ordering an extra egg roll, the bill climbed another $20. So between the taste of the food and the slow service, I could not give Pf Chang more than one star. When I went to pay my bill, I presented an expired Pf Chang gift card that my son had bought for me. They refused to take it because it expired two months ago. I could probably name 10 restaurants here in Louisville that would remind me that it was expired but still accept it because it's a wise business decision. After all, they were paid the $20 awhile ago. Maybe in this instance, they didn't care, sensing that we probably wouldn't return anyway. Several things needs improvement. They need new management, a bit more supervision in the kitchen, and a lot more training to take "an order taker" into an exceptional server. I wish every server the best and hope they are well compensated for their hard work, especially when they go out of the way to make a customer feel special.

Couples, families, and groups of friends entered and many appeared to be regulars. We started with drinks and I chose a German reisling and another one of our group had the pineapple infusion martini and declared it a winner. All of the waitstaff were amazing at making sure drinks were filled and orders taken during a very busy dinner hour. Restaurant is cozy and welcoming with large windows overlooking a meadow and vibrant wall art elsewhere. Noise level is mild and we were able to easily have conversations at our table. Food was delicious and appealing. We started with chicken spring rolls and soy sauce, sweet and sour, and hot mustard condiments. I selected ground lamb with eggplant and basil as my entree with fried rice and it was tender and flavorful with a mildly sweet gaminess and not even the least overpowering. Portions were generous and we each took 1/2 of our orders to go. Looking forward to a return visit very soon in order to continue our tradition of Christmas Eve dinner at this establishment.
