    Beef stew
    Luke Y.

Price/quality (4/4): I came here for some beef stew and a pint of Guinness. While the beef stew was good, the Guinness was quite special. It seemed to taste better than the Guinness served in most other pubs. While I haven't actually been to the brewery in Ireland, I do wonder if the Guinness here is just a little closer to what it would taste like at the brewery. (It's well-documented that Guinness tastes different in different places, and it tastes best at the brewery because that's where it's freshest.) Service (0/1): Service was unfortunately rather inattentive, even though the pub wasn't busy. Would I come here again: Yes

Sunday carvery, roast beef, turkey, yorkie (Yorkshire pudding), stuffing, carrots, peas and generous amounts of gravy! :-P

Had carvery today and tasted great, and costed $15 per person. Nice gentleman serving the carvery, very attentive. Carvery had mix of roast beef (tasty but the cut a little chewy) and turkey, mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, stuffing, gravy (beef and turkey flavours), carrots and peas. Carvery is only served Sundays 3-9pm though the gentleman serving the carvery said sometimes they have sold out by 7pm. The reason for not giving 5 stars was that it was lacking in staff. As we entered, staff were around but no one greeted us/explained how it worked. And it took time to get a server help (lack of staff). Though the servers were all helpful once we got their attention. The carvery also had a queue and you had to wait about 20 minutes (as there is only 1 person serving) but I think it's worth the wait for the price and quality. Decent, down-to-earth, family friendly (saw children and strollers), unpretentious place. Music and chitter-chatter loud.

We called in on a Sunday for the carvery and the place wasn't busy at all. We arrived at 2:30 and had a few pints although the servers weren't the best they were still friendly. Once the carvery was ready at shortly after 3 we went up and got a great dinner. The guy carving the meat was fantastic, The food was brilliant we were both very surprised and will definitely be back.

I've not been to this pub's past location in Gastown so I can't compare it to its past venue, and I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't comment on that, but we both had a great time here! The pub interior was very reminiscent to the Irish pubs I frequented back in the day, when I spent time on the Emerald Isle: dark wood panelling, humongous selection of liquors and beers and bottles on the mirrored bar back, Guinness decor (posters and tchatchkies) interspersed with relics of various Catholic saints and deities. Wooden tables and chairs. Servers with genuine Irish accents. It felt like the real deal. Oh, and if you're into whiskey, they have one of the most extensive whiskey menus I've seen in Vancouver, by far (I am attaching a photo). Their food menu was impressive, too, especially for an Irish pub (which, in my day, wasn't really known for its food!). I had a Bailey's and my kid had a shandy (she had never had one before and she loved it). Our server was friendly and the atmosphere, casual and welcoming.

I get it, they're a business in a prime tourist spot, but that still was too much and enough to make me consider going elsewhere next time I'm in the area.

For drinks selection - nothing special that you can't get anywhere else, and the place being quite empty the vibe was quite boring too. I just felt uncomfortable being there and there isn't anything special about this pub that you can't get better anywhere else. We finished the one drink that we got and headed elsewhere.
