When my family moved down from the Philly area decades ago we were THRILLED to find Donnelly's Deli (also from Philly) in Spring Hill, FL. Throughout the years, it has been there on so many important occasions: holidays, graduations, family gatherings, funerals and weekend fun times. It's an authentic northeastern deli with *hoagies* done the right way. What really distinguishes the hoagies are the bread, seasoning and toppings, and the way the meat and cheese meshes with the bread. The paper wrapper and bags lets you know you just got your meal from an authentic place. When you need a legit sandwich, this is the place to go. Top notch sandwich. It ain't (to my wife, I know ain't ISN'T a word LOL) subway. Hoagie roll really stood out. Ma n' Pa type of a location. The owner had his son's little league baseball pictures from the 80's still on the wall. You can get one cheaper, but you will wish you went to Donnelly's. We had stopped eating subs until we saw a post on save Hernando's restaurants, because of "meh". Restaurant had door open with a lunchtime menu written outside. As We attempted to make an order at the counter, we were met by an extremely rude older male employee. As we began to give our order he rudely cut us off and said, "no". He proceeded to say he wasn't making lunch today. If the he had expressed a more polite approachable demeanor The menu would not be an issue. Employee clearly did not care about customer service or community relations. Donnely's Deli has the best sandwiches in town hands down. My go to is the Boars Head roast beef, but I've also had the turkey sub and cheesesteak sub and after eating one of their subs, you will not be hungary. As great as their subs are, the staff is equally as great. 5 stars for Donnely's. read more

I've been going to Donnelly's since I was a teenager. The sandwiches are as amazing now as they were back then. My favorite thing about Donnelly's is the owner and his family. Old school, good people. They provide genuine and friendly customer service. I was short money once and he told me to pay him when I got it figured out. I have resided in Orlando for 8 years and come to Donnelly's every I time am back in town (never mind that subs are not exactly encompassed by my usual diet). It has been my lunch-treat choice for about 15 years. The meat is fresh, high-quality, and perfectly sliced, and while there is only one option for the hoagie bread, it's the right option. The owners are down-to-earth with the kind of spunk and efficiency exclusive to New York transplants, and the quaint shop is adorned with real pictures, awards, and articles pertaining to the Donnelly family. Steak sandwich with provolone cheese, banana peppers, mushroom, green peppers, onion, and lots of black olives it is a sandwich to die for it is so delicious. Awful customer service. Was basically kicked out & the little old man tried to run around the counter at me lol. Its cash only too & prices are always different. Dirty & dusty as well. We had the warm German Rueben on rye, The Beast and a pickle. The corned beef on the Rueben was delicious, probably the best we've ever had. I find some corn beef very salty but this was perfect and succulent. The Beast was loaded with meat. The pickle was extra crunchy. Heaven in Spring Hill! Having lived in Philly for 57 years and retiring up here, the thing I miss the most is the cheese steaks and hoagies. This place is Philly! The best hoagie on the west coast of Florida (equal to Delco's in Dunedin). Fresh Amorosso rolls and top notch meats and the real Philly style oil dressing. I have been going to Donnelly's for a few years. Great subs here, I usually get a beast. They are very busy at lunch time and can sometimes come across as a little rude. Recently I stopped in about 5 min before closing time and the guy asked if I had called in an order. When I said no he responded "were closed". If you want a great sub at a reasonable price this is your place. If your looking for a great personality to wait on you go someplace else. read more
