Every Saturday morning my son and I try a new diner, this past Saturday we ate at Don's in Leominster. The food was served fast and was very good. I had a roast beef omelet which was good with homemade home fries made with real potatoes not frozen dropped in the fryer very good. This place was AWESOME -- a classic old school breakfast joint, where both locals and newbies are warmly welcomed. It's not huge and there was a big soccer tournament in town (which is how we ended up there), and even though they were getting slammed, everything was delicious and perfect! Fluffiest and tastiest blueberry pancakes I've ever had...the roast beef hash omelette was out of this world...great coffee. May 6 2017 My brothers and I were in the area and heard Guy of Dinners Dives and Drive Ins was going to be there. We said lets be part of the show it has to be good . The food was really good - home fries crispy - my veggie egg white omelette was tasty and not greasy- portions were not too small or too big - hubby doesn't do eggs so he got veggie potato cheddar cheese scramble and said it was really good. As a regular, I don't even have to order because the waitress remembers what I like. I always get a chocolate chip pancake (which is bigger than the plate!) and a blueberry muffin. Both are AMAZING. We were *very* glad that we didn't waste money getting breakfast at our nearby motel. We were slightly skeptical to find this place in a strip-mall with a hair cutting place, laundromat, etc. The inside is small, with goofy decor like antique phones and other tschotkes. My son loved it, and was happy that his hot chocolate came with a huge dollop of whipped cream. When he asked for whipped cream on his pancakes, our friendly server delivered happily. He was in heaven. Our other breakfasts were good. The coffee is unremarkable, but the cup is truly bottom-less. It was affordable and a real treat for city folks visiting relatives for the weekend. read more

If you enjoy a local diner for breakfast, you can't do better than Don's. We were in town to move my son to Fitchburg State. We found Don's just by drving by and eat there both mornings. I found this diner to be extremely hit or miss. Here are some examples: The staff as well as the patrons were super friendly. The waitresses were friendly with my two sons, and two ladies who were at a table for four, moved to a table for two so we could sit without even asking! Very friendly! BUT... The waitresses were tag-teaming on the tables. I don't know if this is normal for Don's or was an anomaly, but what ended up happening was you would ask one waitress for something and she would either forget or you would then have to tell waitress #2 the same thing. Using this method they forgot my toast (which comes standard with the dish I ordered, so I'm not sure how you could even forget) and my son's side of bacon. Also, when my son asked for water, they only brought him water instead of intuitively thinking we all might want water (which we did). The toast was the best toast I've ever had at a diner. I know that's a really weird thing to focus on, but it's true. It was a hearty white bread with a good amount of butter (which I like) and it was toasted to perfection. I'm not even sure what they did differently, but I noticed it right away. BUT... The bacon was flat and super-crunchy which my son hated. It agree with the other poster who said it almost looked like they ironed it. No fat or grease to speak of. If you like flat, crunchy, non-fatty bacon, then you'll love it. The decor is amazing. If you've ever seen the show American Pickers than you would call this place a Honey Hole. It has a ton of amazing antiques all over the walls. I'm going to give it three stars for now, but I would go back and try it again and could anticipate maybe a four star review. read more
