Needed a quick bite for our party of 6 before we hopped on a Worcester flight back home to FL. Most places around looked very small on the inside so that was a main focus. We arrived and were immediately seated at a good size table and asked for our drinks. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was HUGE. I basically only ate half of it and shared the other half with the table and I was still full. The bacon was cooked perfectly and everyone was happy with their meal choices!! My husband and I discovered this place on our way to Maine. So glad we stopped. This diner is so comfortable and inviting. The staff was great, friendly and attentive. The waitress even told us how to correctly pronounce the town's name. The food was terrific. I had the Apple Crisp French Toast - the bread was delicious. My husband had a club sandwich with fries. The best little diner you don't know about! It's quaint, clean and the service is genuinely friendly. We had driven by a few times and decided to finally try it. I'm so glad we did. We slid in under the cut-off as they close at 3 everyday. It's breakfast and lunch only folks! Side note: They do breakfast all day, and we plan to try that next time we visit! My partner and I decided to get as traditional as you can get for diner fare. She got the tuna melt and I the patty melt. Food comes out FAST and HOT. I'm a big eater and I couldn't even finish my fries. The portions are big and the quality is great. My melt was loaded with grilled onions and a FAT 8 ounce burger patty. It also came with: Fries were crispy, coleslaw crunchy and fresh. My lady opted for tots in place of the fries and they were top notch. This place is a hidden gem. FOOD: DELICIOUS! Portion sizes are spectacular. Think Big Pinks in Miami or Big Daddy's in NYC. The sides are all a healthy amount and prices are super reasonable. You get A LOT of food. Entrees are easily able to fill 2 ppl. The only feedback I have is that I do wish they had bacon or sausage alternatives for people who don't eat pork. SERVICE: We've had great service the few times we've been here. Even if it's packed, we're seated promptly and able to order in under 15 minutes. The food is usually out no more than 15 mins after we place the order and the cook in the back with the glasses throws DOWN. There's always a smile on everyone's face, they make sure to say "bye/thank you/have a great day" when you're leaving, even if they're at another table and extra napkins are brought promptly. VIBE: I'd say it's a normal diner vibe but with cleaner bathrooms than normal. The customers are VERY diverse (since Worcester is diverse) but there are young people, old people, groups, couples, families, friends and whatever else of all colors, shapes, sizes and backgrounds. In the few times we've been there we've seen Asian, Black, Latino, White and Native people patron the place. We've seen groups for lunch, brunch, graduation meals, post church meals, breakfast, dates and snacks. Everyone left full and seemingly happy. I'd definitely recommend. read more

First time here, breakfast food was phenomenal and we ordered items that aren't easy for some places to do well- eggs benny and chicken fried steak. The chicken fried steak here is special. I will be coming back for this again and again. We also ordered a chocolate chip pancake and it was massive and also exceptionally good for a pancake. Great time at City Line diner. The staff was incredibly friendly and gave good information on how long food would take to come out so we knew what to order first Vs last. The restaurant wasn't too loud and it was easy to have convo. We were able to walk in without a reservation for two people which was nice. The price point is about 10-20. Cheaper for breakfast items and more expensive for lunch entrees. The French toast selection was amazing and we went with the apple crisp French toast to share at the end. The food was very yummy but the hashbrowns could have had more seasoning. There wSeveral other foods we wanted to try so we'll be back soon. Wow was this place a treat! I've been meaning to explore more of the diners around Worcester and finally got to City Line Diner on my list. Wait time varies but for a Sunday morning on Mother's Day - we got in within 10 mins! I went for the "the city line" which included 2 sausage, 2 bacon, toast, homefries, and choice of pancakes or French toast ( I got French toast and it was delicious!) 3 of us got the city line (such a steal for all of that food for $15.50) and then one person got the breakfast burrito. You know that the food is amazing when it goes silent after everything comes out! So good and the portions were huge - definitely grabbed some to go boxes... This place was a great place to go with friends for brunch - busy environment but not too loud that you couldn't hear the person across from you. My best friend, my son and I came here for breakfast. I have to say the food was outstanding but our service was just awful. The restaurant seemed a little busy, which is fine. We had an older woman with dyed red hair as our server.. she was beyond rude the entire time, she seemed irritated and angry, possibly because they were busy.. she even went as far as to give my 4 year old an attitude for needing napkins. Maybe they need more servers or a food runner or maybe just someone who doesn't absolutely hate their job. As someone in the food industry, I would never treat customers like that. read more

Solid diner. Great addition to Worcester and this side of the city. Owners are two best friends one of which used to be an EMT. They put a lot of effort into revamping this once friendlys location. The menu isn't anything that's crazy different or going to blow you out of the water. You'll find your diner mainstays like Irish breakfast, bennies, club sandwiches and bowls of chili And like everything in between ! Reason I come here versus another diner would be solely for the chicken and waffles- it's perfect! Giant chicken breast fried up crispy tastes like the best combo for the nicely executed waffle and accompanied by the maple syrup and butter for the best everrrrr breakfast experience (or lunch ) i also can speak highly of the French toast, really nice and well stuffed omelettes and the coffee isn't fantastic but it's not just flavored hot water either. Gotta hold out for 11 am sometime and get in there for lunch. Buffalo chicken Sammich is a great choice as well as the club sandwich BUT The burgers are actually so damn good I wish they were open past 2 pm - is really be getting them all the time. The best ever (basic) burger honestly outside of my own kitchen. The staff alone is worth the visit. They are always quick and absolutely a delight. read more

I've been watching the renovation of the old Friendly's Restaurant at the bottom of Goddard Memorial Drive (Airport Drive) and Rt. 9 intersection and waiting for the City Line Diner to open. Well, very early this morning, I saw the "OPEN" sign on, so in I went. I'm a big fan of Diner's in general. In a lot of ways, it is a long lost art. It just has a nice atmosphere that I'm comfortable with. With that said, first impressions mean a lot to me. The design and styling knock it out of the park. The interior of the diner is a classic Diner theme. Very nice counter and quite a few tables all in the main area. I didn't count, but it looks like seating for around 40-50 people? Plenty of room. I usually have a Turkey Club sandwich as my "go to food" to evaluate a diner type restaurant, Well, it was around 06:20, so I ordered a bacon egg sandwich on an English Muffin to take with me. A simple diner food staple, but you'd be surprised on how many places cant' get it right. After ordering, within a very short time my order was ready. The food smelled great, looked great, and most important tasted great. It was clearly cooked on a grill, not some micro wave drive thru bland tasting junk food. You can really taste the difference in quality eggs, bacon and potatoes. This was an enjoyable breakfast. I met George the owner, a very professional restaurant owner. He was very pleasant and proud of his restaurant and his staff, as he should be. I could see a little in cooking area. Appeared well organized, employee's were professional, and everything I saw was spotless. Like I mentioned, first impressions matter. Good job City Line Diner. We were quickly served drinks and our order was taken shortly after. The food didn't take long but the small wait was well worth it.
