A hidden, back street "diamond-in-the-rough". Chair City Diner sits on the right side of an old Gardner school, behind a small unassuming sign. It's easy to drive past it. I did. This place is relatively new and completely new to me (opened 3 years ago) and is spotless, clean, clean, clean. Lots of counter and table seating and lots of off street parking. Wait staff were attentive and friendly. Offers standard diner fare. I had the Belgian waffle with strawberries, which would have benefited from macerated berries vs just sliced, but good. Their corned beef hash was home made and excellent. Clean bathrooms as well. I shall return! read more

Waitress got both orders wrong. Example of why you should write everything down! Never came back to check on our food or drinks. Food was blah eggs did not taste like eggs and my toast had enough butter to do a whole loaf of bread. Maybe they had an off day but there's better breakfast places in Gardner. read more

Great food, friendly service. Amazing prices and portions are huge, I usually split it with my husband and we both finish satisfied. If you go with the classics you won't go wrong. We went for breakfast, not the first time. I ordered sausage and biscuit with home fries. I was given a bowl with a biscuit submerged in a poor excuse for gravy. The gravy was not blended, it was gritty and not edible. My wife's pancake tasted of onion, like the grill was not cleaned. Awful experience. So pleased with the food and the service here. The eggs were cooked to a perfect over medium and the bacon was crispy without being overcooked. The people working there were super nice and did a great job. The price for ordering 'a la carte' items for breakfast was good. I stopped by Chair City Diner in Gardner for lunch recently on a rainy Saturday. This casual breakfast and lunch eatery opened in late October which offers a full service dining room with booths, tables and high seating up at the counter.  Breakfast is served all day and lunch starts at 11am. I took a seat up at the lunch counter as the place was fairly busy. I was given a menu which has the standard breakfast fare including eggs, bennies, omelets, pancakes, French toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, muffins, cereal, and standard lunch fare including sandwiches, soups, chili, chicken tenders, fried foods, and homemade macaroni and cheese. The prices seem fair here, most plates $5-$14 range. I started out with a Cup of Chili with Cheese ($4.25 plus tax) served with oyster crackers. The chili was thick with plenty of tomato, ground beef, beans, and spices, hearty and with the mild spicy flavors. I got the Tuna Melt with fries ($8.50 plus tax) which was a big sandwich with plenty of albacore tuna with a mayo mix, American cheese on toasted rye bread, a good sandwich. The golden fries were the standard semi thick type, but were a bit lukewarm to eat. I ate half of the sandwich and fries and gor a box to go. I was presented the check which was $13.02 before tip and paid online via the Toast platform so I could leave quickly and head back to NH. Overall, the food here tasted pretty good and I saw some of the big breakfast platters being served to the customers next to me. The grilled home fries looked really good as well as the popular steak bomb omelet. I will come back here hungry next time for breakfast. read more

First time going to Chair City Diner today with my kids. Have ever been there but always hear great things around town. The place was packed and had a steady flow of customers continue to come in. Staff was all very friendly and prompt. Restaurant was extremely clean despite the busy customer flow. I Ordered Eggs Benedict, and kids got m&m and Reeces Pancakes. All the food was fresh, delicious and MASSIVE, extremely generous portions. Before the kids were done they were saying they couldn't wait to go back again! We will definitely return! read more

Average at best. The decor is great. The service wasn't too bad. I was given coffee in a dirty cup and charged for the wrong order (wasn't given a receipt or anything waitress just took my card and ran it.) luckily paid less so I didn't bother correcting it because it would of been more of a hassle.
