Four or five employees couldn't get my order right. Never go here for any type of seafood hoagie I didn't recognize tuna fish. I'd asked if it was solid white tuna and they didn't answer. WOW! We are lucky to have this little gem right here in Melbourne! A true mom & pop, traditional hoagie joint with a real Northeastern feel! They use Dietz & Watson meats (just like in Philly). Everything is homemade, delicious, high-quality, and truly fresh tasting! Don's Super Italiano sub is incredible! And the bread they use is top notch! Their homemade soups, potato salad, & macaroni salad = YUM! Great staff and service. Don greets you when you walk in, even assists in getting the orders together, and will come check on you while you eat to make sure you're satisfied. Spacious, booth seating, but bare bones. When I pulled up I wasn't even sure I was in the right place. It's very low key looking on the outside. But when you walk in, it's a clean hoagie shop straight out of New York. I ordered the #18, turkey and roast beef hoagie. What an awesome find! The bread is delicious and the macaroni salad absolutely deserves its own sign because it's perfect! What a great find. To top it off the staff was friendly and super cool. Can't wait to go back and try the #20 steak sandwich. read more

Had lunch here today and it was awesome! They have a sign...well lots of signs with cool sayings! One said "Man can not live by bread alone, so we add meat!" Lots of meat without needing to add extra $$ just to get a good sandwich like other place such as JJ or SW! We will go there as much as possible! read more

Had the absolute worst experience at Don's Hoagies in Melbourne today. They have always been a long time favorite, though always pricy and never fast. Their sandwiches are good though and our office orders from there at least once a week. NEVER AGAIN. We called and ordered ahead around 11:40 (multiple sandwiches and salads take a while so we always order early) Was told 12:15 food would be ready. I sat there until 12:40, no offer of an excuse, or an apology, When I asked for a receipt (we are splitting this among many people in an office but I paid for the entire order cash) I was met with absolute disgust by Cheryl at the drive up window that she would have to write it out. (we do this every time) Every sandwich and salad had gone up a dollar from last week so a basic sandwich on loaf bread is now $11 as is a salad. Rushed back to the office s we now had less than 20 mins of lunch left, and multiple parts of the order were wrong. I called and asked to speak to Don Jr who we have worked with for years and Brian told me "we don't have time for this it is our lunch rush, have a nice day" AND HUNG UP! He hung up the phone on me. I will be speaking to Don Jr. Later but will NOT be returning to this place. They have priced themselves out of the market, and their service is a 2/10 on a good day. Sad for a family run business. This is a classic small family business with pleasant service and solid food. Offers great option to call ahead and pick up via the drive-thru window. Also has plenty of indoor seating that is clean and spacious. A traditional mom and pop shop atmosphere without bells and whistles. On my first visit, Don offered a greeting as if we were neighbors for years. The subs are basic but tasty with fresh ingredients and reasonable pricing. Overall, the subs beat out locally competing Jimmy John's, Jersey Mike's, Petty's and arguably Subway. Having said that, you pay $5 for a half and I think Publix subs are superior for a bit more cash. read more

Tried this place based off reviews and location to my office. It surely is a Mom&Pop deli joint and keep an eye out for Poppa Don wandering the isles. He'll chat your ear off! I have only been once but got a hoagie in a salad (without the bread). The meats/cheese were terrific and the salad fixings were tasty- also got lots of dressing on the side. Good portions-they don't skimp. Two negatives: 1) the lettuce was a paltry bunch of iceberg- not super fresh...mostly the white innards....not the green goodness and 2) The hardworking folks behind the counter who were elbow deep in making subs wore no gloves and no hair nets. That turned me off big time. Will I go here again? Likely I will; to try it once more before I decide. Should you? Why not. You'll enjoy a good deli sandwich and friendly service. read more
