They just failed inspection, room temperature food, broken cooler, no one wears a hair net, and the place is filthy where they prepare food. My observations - the waitress staff is absolutely rude and obnoxious, no one smiles, they hate the world, and you as a customer. It's not worth ever walking in again, but you go ahead, get sick on bacteria filled meat and dairy all you want. I'll sit back and watch. read more

First time visiting Family Tradition Cafe and was surprised to see how small it really is. Now that is not a negative, but it is quite small. The place was clean and tidy. No noticeable odors of grease or cleaning supplies. No smell or noise coming from the kitchen. Went with my 50 year old daughter and 24 year old grandson so we give you herein 3 generations of opinions. We were all on the same page. We got there, on purpose, slightly before noon so we could beat the working folks lunch rush but be there for it to see what they brought in. Slightly after noon the blue-collar crowd showed up. Not a rowdy, noisy bunch so I figure the rowdy bunch knew to go elsewhere. When we were seated, there were already a handful of tables full of seniors ... always a good sign as we seniors can be picky, finicky and at times tough to please. :) We were seated immediately and even though the place is small, there were 3 waitresses on duty. Our waitress was at our tableside almost as we sat down, greeted us warmly, gave us our menus, asked if we had any questions and took our drink order. While my daughter and grandson ordered breakfasts ... nice to see still them serving breakfasts at noon ... I had a BLT and an order of onion rings. Zero complaints about any of the food. Each item was well cooked, presented neatly and cleanly and brought out quickly. Ticket times were under 10 minutes. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for just simple diner-like food, served by smiling staff. Nothing fancy but good food at very reasonable prices. read more

Tried for the first time this morning. We were warmly greeted and brought to a table. My husband ordered French toast while I had eggs, grits and toast. First, the French toast tasted like just a piece of bread like it had been in the milk/egg mixture for a nanosecond. Kind of tasteless. My eggs (over easy) were great. It's hard to find a restaurant that can get them right - runny yolk but cooked whites. The grits had zero flavor, however, so I had to add a ton of salt and margarine (no real butter). Grits need to be salted when you cook them even if it's a small amount. We will most likely give them another try though to see if it was just an off day. This is my first (and last) time eating here. A couple of ants crawled on me while I waited at the counter. I ordered a veggie omelet, hash browns and dry wheat toast. My mom had corned beef hash and grits. My toast was slatheted and soggy with a yellow substance I assume was magarine and barely toasted. This food is bland as hell. Not a pinch of salt and definitely no pepper. We took our food to go and doctored it up when we got home. If I have to season my own food, I may as well cook it at home. I won't be back. read more

It's the newest family tradition in Palm Bay. Bring your family out for breakfast. So family friendly they have toys and stuff for kids to play with while your family is waiting for food. Located in Bayside lakes in the corner unit where nothing seems to stay open for long. I've been thinking this unit was haunted by the ghost of business failure. But it appears after burning some sage this tradition has been broken. They appear to keep very busy which should be a big help. The restaurant was clean inside and has a feel of a small town dinner like the other two, in the area expect way closer. The service was good, friendly and actually fast. The food: The food was good but just didn't stand out. It's a family tradition because it's the same kind of food your mom would make for family breakfast. My wife and I went here a couple of weeks ago. She ordered french toast and when it came to the table, it was cold. She asked our server if she could get it warmed up and was given an attitude. As the server walked away, my wife asked me "why do they look at me like I am stupid when I ask for warm food?" From that point forward, our server was non-existent. My wife asked her if there was an issue and she said "yes, you called me stupid." My wife replied "no I didn't." The server said " I heard you say it and I am done with you" and walked away. I personally love to eat at mom-and-pop brunch places as the food they usually serve taste like what the general mom and pop makes at home. Either it be breakfast or lunch, you can usually "taste the love and passion" they put into their cooking. Of course there are disappointing exceptions (like Old Village Restaurant on Sarno Rd. for example), but overall they are good. What I love about Family Tradition Cafe (which I will shorthand to "FT Cafe" for the rest of the review) is the fact it is one (out of two I know) mom and pop brunch restaurants located in Bayside Lakes (along with Bayside Bagels). I kept on passing by the place as it is near where I live. I finally took the time to stop in after one of my long shifts at work. I have to say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made pertaining to my quest to review all businesses here on Yelp. :D FT Cafe is located in a small shopping strip consisting of a martial arts dojo and a Space Coast Credit Union branch on Bayside Lakes Blvd. If it helps, it is in between 7-Eleven and a vet place. Upon enterting, you'll notice that the decor is very simplistic. The tables and chairs are the cheap kind and the walls are decorated with canvases of positive affirmations. It is at least comfy and clean. There is also a television airing the news just in case you want to get your dose of what's going on in either your city, state, or country at the time too. What stands out was the interpersonal staff and delicious food. The ladies who served me were very nice. We even struck up nice conversations too. As for the food, it was definitely prepared and cooked with care. I ordered a double serving of biscuits and gravy with eggs and sausage patties. They were delicious. And for the price, it was a lot of food compared to other mom-and-pop brunch restaurants. Ultimately, I cannot say anything real negative about FT Cafe. Great place, great people, great food. I will be honest and say I have eated at other places that were just as good so they get four out of five stars for the time being. They will earn their fifth star over time if they are consistent. read more

First time there. It's a pretty busy place . The service was great, The food was hot and the portions generous. I didn't realize the omelet would have American cheese or I would have asked for a different kind, but it was still really good, filled with ham, onions and potatoes. His Chicken Fried Steak was DELICIOUS. Crispy and seasoned perfectly. The grits were so creamy. The prices were really good too. It might have been perfect, except I did not like the coffee at all. It was bitter with a funny aftertaste. I love a good strong cup of coffee, something smooth and balanced, and unfortunately that was not it. I'd have to drink water, but I'd go back. read more

Excellent local for breakfast. On Sundays they close at 2 pm. The portions are large. I had a veggie omelette with cheese that was delicious and huge. It came with potatoes, with a choice of home fries or hash browns. The bacon was on point and so was the sausage patties. I was a little disappointed with how flat the French toast was, but it was all very tasty, fresh and very hot. I will definitely be a repeat customer. I did takeout. So disappointed in this restaurant. We have been going there for years supporting local business. We have noticed over the years ,watching the service sdecline. What waitress does not clear your tables to pre bus , refill your coffee as needed, and make sure that your order was correct when it was served to you, including checking back on you most of the time to make sure everything was OK before just dropping the bill at the table and walking away. Someone had posted earlier how they were nickeling and diming to death with extra charges. $.30 really for a few fried onions on top of your egg, charge you for a bagel that you didn't want , you wanted an English muffin instead and said the wrong thing. They still charged you for the bagel and then they were going to throw it out so we asked for it back so we could at least feed it to our dog since we paid for it. I guess if I ordered a sandwich and I didn't like it and sent it back they would charge me for it and still charge me for something else that I ordered in place. The first waitress was not very pleasant and got a little agitated with my father when he was placing his order, called over a waitress because we needed something and she shook her head at us and said I'm not your waitress but I will let her know, and then when asking her for some extra water she rolled her eyes at me and walked away like it was a chore when I asked her to do that when she was not my waitress. We have been treated this way numerous times when coming in and today I finally had enough and requested to speak to the owner. I understand he did not have time to talk to me because they were busy and he was behind the line cooking. The price of a breakfast for A scrapple bowl and two eggs sausage potatoes and two coffees was $23 plus tip. They consider scrapple a premium meat which really makes me laugh because scrapple is sold for four dollars a block where bacon and sausage are much more expensive nowadays but you're going to charge more money for scrapple, makes no sense to me. Those girls apologized over and over again saying they did not mean to do that if they did they were sorry, but that's just not the case. There are numerous restaurants to eat at it we can go and get friendlier service and better food at a more reasonable price. Told them that we will not be back, not that that really matters to them but overtime if more people start experiencing this kind of service and their reaction to things their small little business will be no more. Maybe people should take advice from owners of small businesses like Frankies deli, great service great food and always polite and respectful employees. This is just something I could not not keep quiet about ,really upset with it and I needed to vent thank you for listening and hopefully the owners and staff will take note that customers pay your bills and it doesn't take too much to be nice to someone, shame on you read more

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised, she got the Bayside omelet and I the corn beef hash breakfast plate and pancakes for kids.. ordered TO GO over the phone and we both were shocked really at the quality, even for a TO GO order! I've been dining here for several years since moving to the Bayside area and have always found the food enjoyable for a "greasy spoon"-style diner. Service can be hit-or-miss and the continuous Fox News blaring across the tiny place isn't my favorite, but that aside, the food has been consistent and satisfying. I don't think I'll be returning after my experience today. When my food was placed in front of me it had a long, thick, silver hair right in the middle of my pancakes. I pulled it out and the woman sitting next to me saw it, gasped, and immediately told a waitress, who came over to me. She took my plate and apologized, and said, "We'll make a fresh one right away" as she walked back to the kitchen. I really didn't want that, as I was put-off and hate sending food back (call me paranoid), but I didn't want to make a big thing of it. A short time later the waitress came back and said, "It'll be out shortly" and I asked if we could just have the bill (my partner was already done with his food, and I just wanted to leave). She asked if I still wanted the food and I told her I was sorry but I didn't. She was pleasant and brought us the bill without the charge of my order (kudos to this waitress, she was really nice). But when she went to the kitchen to let them know, we heard someone (cook? Manager?) begin YELLING: "What? What do you mean she doesn't want it?! WHY NOT?!" This person then began throwing things in the kitchen, loudly clanging items together. The woman who had seen the hair looked at me and mouthed, "Woah." You could hear this tantrum across the whole restaurant. Over 2 pancakes with eggs & bacon. Should I have said something earlier? Yes, I probably should have, but I didn't have but a moment to react. The fact that I didn't want to eat after finding hair in my food and was in no way rude about it seems rational, and certainly didn't warrant such a reaction from the staff like that. Want people to dine at your establishment? Don't serve your food with hair in it and if you do, don't make a scene when someone isn't too eager to eat from your kitchen. After reading the enthusiastic recommendations on our neighborhood Facedbook page, we decided to try Family Tradition Cafe for breakfast. From the very first, our perceptions were positive; at the door we received a warm welcome from the active owner. After a very short wait for a table in the busy cafe, we were hardly at our places before we were asked if we wanted coffee.... bliss! Service was very friendly and attentive, and our coffee cups never got below half filled.... bliss! Both our breakfasts were ample and tasty. The coffee was hot and robust.... bliss! However, the best thing about Family Tradition was the very friendly staff and customers. The bustling cafe had a definite small town diner feel, so far removed from the industrial breakfast chains. I'll take the Family Tradition Cafe over the International House of Plastic every day, and THREE times on Sunday. ;) Did I say the coffee was good? .... bliss!
