Cassidy (Kevin) Locksmith is a service I have always wanted to review, but was a) too ashamed to publicly admit I'd locked myself out of my house enough times to leave a review, and b) assumed people would overlook another 5 star review. But here we are. To folks who had to search for "Locksmiths" in order to see this: I assume it's been a day. Please know I wrote this with you in mind. I got lucky that I called Kevin on my worst day, and 8 years later, I want others to find the best/safest option too. Kevin is responsive, professional, and exceptionally skilled. As a service provider attending to requests in (often times) suboptimal circumstances, he made sure that there were no questions left unanswered: from initial call to final payment. I appreciated his clarity, honesty, and focus. Nonjudgemental, no showmanship, no nonsense. To be clear, I was none of those things (on the inside) when I called him in a panic. Personally, I'd rather break and replace a window than admit defeat if I've been locked out of my home due my own forgetfulness. Kevin was kind enough to ensure that my ego didn't cost me a 2 week old lease. And when our apartment complex was broken into years later, he was my first thought for safe lock replacement. He came by my place to help secure my front door and I was prepared to spend extra to replace my existing lock for what I thought would be a safer one. He straightforwardly told me there was no need to go beyond the very secure lock I have thus saving me money. Generally mechanics, contractors and locksmith are in that group who can pad their bill by telling you in fancy professional jargon that this or that needs replacement even if that is not the case. I promised to write a review about this locksmith family business but now just finally got to it. So here it is- better late than never! I think most of us have had to change the lock on one occasion or another-- and from reasons like locking yourself out of the house, or a break up and for me- just simply to replace the old lock , finding a trustworthy locksmith is a must. I decided on Cassidy's after phoning several others because of the earliest availability and cost. The lady who answered the phone was cordial and reassuring- and told me she could have someone first thing the following morning (and mind you it was a weekend). The Cassidy locksmith arrived promptly and started to work right away. He was actually very pleasant and very well informed about the type of locks that would be best suited for the door. Although it took a little bit longer to get it fixed- he did not charge extra and cleaned the area where he worked. most people rate locksmiths very highly because they were able to get their door open in time, but I... I have a reason for why this rating should tower among the rest. The Ol' Irish Mun was able to make a copy of my BROKEN car key. He didn't even have the right size key in stock, but some how that man did it. I believe he's the main guys father. for all I know he could be the head honcho. who knows, but the Ol Irish Man is still a god among men. He saved me a lot of money that day. will do business again when the time comes. I called at 1pm talked to a very nice woman on the phone who quickly understood what my problem was and quoted me a price. She then scheduled an appointment later in the afternoon at 5pm. Kevin showed up and replace my electric strike in my outer gate locking mechanism in about 20 minutes. He was very professional, easy-going and insightful. He gave me a "theft prevention" consultation as well and I learned a ton. The price was the same as quoted and it was a very pleasant experience and my gate works great. I called cassidy because the yelp reviews sounded great. and true to form they were. The woman who ansered the phone was very helpful, pleasant and British (Aussie?) sounding. The locksmith arrived between the one hour window, she explained it was a busy day. He fixed my gate, tried to fix the electric buzzer, and even another lock (that I didn't even know it was not working correctly) in about 30 minutes. I just bought a new home, as a security measure my realtor recomended I get the locks changed and gave me this locksmith's number. I was a little bit doubtful when he turned up in a scruffy old van - but he was very friendly and professional. Rather than changing all of my locks which is what I expected him to do, he explained that the locks I already have are good locks and that it is much less expensive to make new but different keys that work the same locks. I didn't even know that this was possible! I was very happy with the service in general - he saved me money and gave me a few maintenace tips as well. They came out the following morning and met my tenants (I didn't have to drive over there). They fixed the problem and sent me the bill. I had a high-end mortise lock stop working, the latch wouldn't completely open, couldn't use the front door. I called one of the big-ad locksmiths from the yellow pages. Got a guy who poked at it with a screwdriver, clearly had no idea, and quoted over $600. I threw him out. Called Cassidy and got somebody within a few hours. Youngish guy who clearly knew what he was up to. Gave me plans A, B, and C. Plan A was to open up the mortise box and see if he could fix it. There was a "spring" or tensioner of some kind that had broken. He fished it out, made some adjustments in the box and its placement, and lo, it now works. Grand total was only $100. He told me the tricks you need to get the unit out (and back in again), and left me with a recommendation for where to get the brass handset re-plated. This is neighborhood craftsmen at their best. (Plan B was to set the strike plate a little further into the frame since the latch almost but not quite retracted. A hack, but an easy fix that would probably work OK. And as a programmer, I have to admire a well-done kludge.) read more

I've been looking for a reason to use Yelp for ages and I finally found one! I live in the Mission and I used this Locksmith even though they are based in the sunset, because a friend of mine recommended them. I had my purse stolen and of course all of my personal details were in it, along with my keys, so I was in a total panic and wanted to get my locks changed straight away. My friend gave me this number and when I called and explained the situation the woman on the phone was so sweet and very calming (with a really nice English accent). She told me they were really busy but understood my anxiety and they managed to squeeze me in that day. AND on top of that when the locksmith showed up I discovered that he also speaks Portuguese (I'm Brazilian) as well as Dutch and Spanish. It was a pleasure to meet a trades person who is well travelled and obviously well educated too. He did a great job - my locks worked even better than they did before after he'd done his thing with them and he made me all the extra keys I needed there and then. After being told by an Ace hardware "locksmith" that the lock would have to be taken apart to remove a broken key and it would be cheaper to buy a new lock from them; I went to Cassidy Locksmith and a very nice lady removed the broken piece in a couple of minutes and charged $5.00.
