12/23/2025 - My first time here. They charge 50 cents if you use a credit card or debit card. I took 1 star away for that. No need to pass charges off to consumers where you can write those off in your taxes. Total of 4 stars. Paid a little over $5 for three donuts. An old fashioned chocolate, a glazed and a cream filled donut. I tried a bite of each and I was impressed. Fresh, soft and tasty. Inside there was no where really to hang. 2 small tables. One table had no chairs and the other table had 2 chairs. Very clean inside. I would go here again. A decent selection to choose from. Will try a sandwich next time from the reviews I read. I think there was just one employee there.

Donut Bros have opened their second location on the border between El Cajon and Santee. It's a very good thing, too because they make some terrific doughnuts, including specialty donuts, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee. I had a house made croissant, a chocolate covered buttermilk bar, and a house small coffee. First of all, they make some pretty good well priced drip coffee, so I do recommend, and they make an even better butter croissant, the same croissant they use to make their famous breakfast sandwich. The croissant was more of the Italian version or more bready and dense but with a good flakiness. It was great, too. The chocolate on the buttermilk bar was great. It reminded me of a ganache. The bar itseld was very tasty and offered that subtle buttermilk tangy flavor towards the end. Great bar. The service was very good. The you gent at the counter offered great conversation and was very ffriendly There is plenty of parking and they are located across the Happy Car Wash.

Woohoo! Congrats to these guys working hard for their 2nd location. They just opened so they're in the soft opening/grand opening phase, please support local businesses! Great donuts and customer service as usual. Located in the lot with the car wash, next to subway. Ample of parking and friendly faces with the smell of sweet donuts. Was able to call in an order for my kids school and they came out perfectly and neatly. Good communication and have been here a few more time since then. My goto is the sugar donuts or double chocolate cake.

    Pick up window 5-9p

We drove all the way over from Serra Mesa because we had a "toogoodtogo" app order and wanted to try out their donuts. The pick up window stated 5-9p. We arrived at 7:36p to pick up our box. The employee saw us pull up and hid in the back - no idea what their problem is. The door hours said until 7pm but their pick up window went up till 9pm and either way there was an employee inside that chose to ignore us. I even yelled into the mail slot why I was there. Forget this place- terrible customer service, unreliable hours/info and don't honor paid orders- I'm good with this- too many other donut places in San Diego for me to ever try this place again.

    Chorizo breakfast sandwich. Was amazing!

Stopped in this morning at 5. Was warmly greeted. Ordered a dozen donuts, one plain old fashioned, and a chorizo breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was outstanding. The cibatta bread was excellent! Highly recommend. Plain old fashioned was exactly what I wanted. Will for sure be back to check out the lunch bagels!!

Bad service. Young lady was rude acted like they hate working there. Too expensive. About twice the cost of your regular donuts shop.

So we got back a second time and sit down to order, "Chicken and waffles please" - they are out of chicken. Oof! Strike 1. That sucks. She was disappointed but she got something else and we shrugged it off. Then about 2 weeks back we came in again... this time I asked first, "Do you have chicken for the chicken and waffles?" They are out of waffles. Oof! Strike 2! And isn't it just batter? I don't get it. We didn't stay that time because my daughter was visibly sad this time. So I think we are done trying or else this just becomes a running gag we try to get out of, like Groundhogs Day or something... Atmosphere: It's cozy inside. I love all of the details, like the wood carvings and all of the bear stuff. It's like you're in a log cabin. And I like that they have paper menus and throw them away (because plastic reusable menus are germ magnets). The newspaper-esque theme is pretty cool too. Price: It's no more expensive than say, Dennys or Ihop. Middle of the road and they have lots of options. A decent meal for two - 50$. Service: Each time we have been, the servers have been great. Nice servers and even when the guy had to tell us they were out of chicken, he was super apologetic. No complaints on the service. Overall: It's a nice place... when they have the advertised food. So I honestly don't know if we will be back or not. Maybe we will give it a shot but I don't want my daughter to be disappointed again. I get it, if it was something they only made 50 of a day, I'd understand. But... chicken and waffles? Hmmm...

There were several quirky cute diners in the area so it was tough to choose. Ultimately, Izzy's menu excited me more than the others. I love the barbecue brunch thing going on, too. Very unique and we totally would've tried some ribs had we not gone to Phil's for the first time the night before and had a ton of leftovers. We split a Country Benny and the Jalapeño scramble, which had their homemade pulled pork in it. Julie was an outstanding server. Super patient, attentive, and helpful. You can choose muffins or coffee cake (only $1 extra!) instead of toast, which I love by the way, but I really appreciated that she asked if I had tried the coffee cake because it's not what I thought it was. She explained it as more of a vanilla cupcake with nuts and white icing? Which is kinda random that they call it coffee cake, but it made us opt for the zucchini muffin which was definitely the right choice. Moist, warm, and delicious to nibble on while we waited for the rest of our meal. She also asked if we needed anything else, like salsa, when our entrees came. Which, I usually alwayyys have to request but she was 2 steps ahead of us. The Bloody Mary was tasty and just strong enough to start our afternoon. I'm a huge sucka for biscuits & gravy and theirs really hit the spot. The sausage patty was so good and definitely homemade. Perfectly poached eggs harmoniously smothered in yummy gravy and fluffy biscuits. Crispy hashbrowns, great country potatoes. The scramble was good, too. Pulled pork had a nice smoky flavor and I've never seen nor had it with eggs before which is awesome. The portions were just right. Not huge, but we got full and everything tasted great so what more can you ask for? The deep fried pie! Duh. Super bummed we didn't take a peach one home...

The place feels lively in a calm and familiar way that teenagers would appreciate a lot because it has that friendly neighborhood energy that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. I noticed right away that there were a lot of teenagers eating there, talking with each other, and enjoying their time without feeling watched or rushed. Seeing that made me realize how naturally this cafe fits into the kind of environment teenagers love, somewhere they can relax, laugh, and feel like they belong. The food at Bonnys Cafe surprised me in the best way. It tasted exactly like the kind of comforting breakfast you hope for when you walk into a classic cafe, and it made the whole experience feel even more inviting. Even though the dishes are simple, they have that homemade flavor that teenagers would enjoy because it feels real and not overly fancy. The atmosphere inside is bright and open, and the staff treat everyone with the same kindness, which makes it easy for teenagers to feel comfortable being themselves there. As I walked around and looked at the different tables, I did not realize how much there was to appreciate about the place until I took a moment to really take it in. It is the kind of cafe where you can sit for a while without feeling like you need to hurry up and leave. I really appreciated how easy it was to enjoy my time there without any pressure. I never doubted that the experience was going to turn out the way I hoped it would because everything about the cafe, from the food to the atmosphere, felt genuine and welcoming. I only visited Bonnys Cafe one time in my life before making this review, but it left a strong impression on me. It was one of the most comfortable and inviting cafes I have been to in a long time, and I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a place to eat good food, hang out with friends, and feel relaxed. I lived for 24 years. I am not physically or mentally 24 years old. In the summertime in the year 2024, I learned that I am still physically and mentally 18 years old. I also learned in the summer that year that my prefrontal cortex is way more developed than average 25 year olds prefrontal cortex in the human brain.
