Recently returned from a Europe trip where I tried Trileçe. I know it's like the Mexican Tres Leches but it's not the same. I looked all over San Diego and finally found it here. The employee that took our order was nice and we took it to go so we didn't have to wait long. I inside it was spacious and there was lots of people hanging out.
What a gem, San Diego needed a spot like this. Fresh, welcoming and inviting. Do not let it intimidate you, just come in and experience a new food and new culture. I love Turkish desserts and I love the coffee and baklava so bringing someone with me to experience it was wonderful. We didn't feel judged for asking basic questions and I loved seeing so many people of different ages gathered enjoying wonderful ambiance and sweets. Need to come back for coffee! A nice guy helped us create a box to try multiple flavors.
The lady in the counter is very welcoming and I love that she's so proud of her products. The way she explained every dessert and her smile. They baked every dessert in the morning. It shows how fresh and delicious it is. We tried the Chai tea and vanilla latte. They are so flavorful!! 10/10 will come back for this. We also tried the cold baklava and baklava cheesecake. This is the first time that I have to practice self control. Both dessert is so good!! The baklava cheesecake is so well balance and not to overly sweet. It is so well made. The cold baklava is so interesting. It is the texture of tres leches, but baklava version with cocoa powder on top. I don't like overly too sweet dessert. Both of this dessert is so well balance and not too sweet. I definitely will come back for both dessert. The place was crowded. Everybody sit around enjoying tea and coffee with some sweet. I really enjoyed EVERYTHING I got here. I'm pushing my kids into getting their birthday cake here too. I will definitely be back to try more..
This past Saturday, a fellow Yelp Elite introduced me to his favorite cafe for baklavas and karak tea. There were so many yummy looking treats in the display window, and the pistachio custard called out to me. This was a very interesting dessert, but it was not what I had expected. When I hear the word "custard," I think of rich and creamy, with a velvety texture. This pistachio custard had a very light consistency, almost watery. It wasn't quite as smooth or sweet as I would expect from a custard. The ground pistachio on top was mixed with some spices that gave it an earthy taste. I didn't exactly like the custard, but I didn't hate it either. Let's just say it's something that I would not recommend or order ever again. What I will recommend and order again is the karak tea. I've never had this tea before and really enjoyed it. It's a rich and fragrant tea. It's a bit on the pricey side at $6.99 for a small serving, but definitely worth it! Of course when you're at this cafe, you have to try the assortment of baklavas. We got a box with a variety of 2 pieces each. They were honestly too pretty to eat. The cafe was rather empty when we got there, but by the time we left, it was packed and people were waiting for us to leave so they could have our table. The manager who assisted us with our order was incredibly nice. She said that in about a month, their restaurant will be opened. The boarded up wall that you see in my photos will be removed, creating a joint space between the restaurant and cafe. This will be one restaurant worth visiting!
What a treat! They are open until 10pm which is a double win. Filled with trays of delectable Turkish desserts. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice, straight from the juicing machine. We got a few different things to go but for in dining we shared a biscoff cheesecake. Very dense and delicious if you like cheesecake. Love the vibes in here thought they are going through slight renovations on their ceiling and wall. The service was friendly and fast. Will be back to drink tea and have more sweets.
In a quick dash for a late night snack I thought of going from Boba but then though nope, BAKKKKLLLLAAAAAVVVVAAAA sounds way better. Sultan Baklava.... Here I come!!! I have been here a couple times but haven't reviewed it. I wish I knew the background of baklava and where it comes from because every time I walk in this place I feel the culture it comes from, it's usually filled with people having baklava, a drink and good conversation... it's the most peaceful dessert place I have been too. The employees seem to be one big family with a very helping nature. They have an assortment of desserts from mini cakes, medium cakes, pastries and different slices of cake. I got a small trey this because I was eating it myself haha. But I couldn't definitely get a big tray down no problem. These sweet pastries are my kryptonite! You never just eat one! Most of the ones I enjoy have pistachio ingredient in them. Love em!! I'm sorry I can't give more on this place but please trust me when I say you have to check this place out!!! You'll love it!! What an array of treats!! Everyone at the counter was very nice. Tried a little of different Baklava and the custard dessert. Very good! Would have loved to try their coffee (maybe next time), The Baklava is weighed and pay based on that. A whole window just for other desserts. Definitely somewhere to go if you have a sweet tooth! Good ambiance with seating indoors.
Came here during El Cajon's Haunt Fest and didn't find anything that tickled my fancy among the food trucks and food stalls so I settled on something that guaranteed quality sweets. I found the darkest red-colored Turkish Delight and asked the lady behind the counter what flavor it was...pomegranate, and in deed it has a rich and sweet pomegranate flavor. Ate about half the piece because I wanted to leave room for their specialty baklava. A two inch thick ground pistachio-filled baked filo dough. It's sweet so I'm glad I parked a couple blocks away to walk off this insulin-spiking treat!
Went with a friend. Super cute pastries and delicious coffee. We had the premium Hazelnut latte and Caramel Latte. They were made to perfection not too sweet and the perfect combination to our desserts. We tried the Biscoff mini cake, Dubai chocolate bar, and the cheese Pocha. Everything tasted good. Not too sweet which was a plus. Definitely recommended.
Beautifully presented desserts and decor when you walk in. Restaurant is still u dear construction past the front register, but the entry part looks stunning. The desserts are fantastic and coffee is perfect! What made me give it 4 out of 5 stars is the price. I u destined costs went up and remodel is expensive and keeping up with the current market is hard, but for El Cajon this is extreme. There are places in La Jolla and Del Mar that are cheaper. Will I drive this far again? Probably not. Worth the try? Definitely! If you can afford it.
I hovered between a 4.5 and a 5 rating, but since we can't do half ratings, I had to go with a 4.5 because it is a bit on the pricier side. Also, when purchasing a Turkish Delight, you can't get them in smaller sizes, but as a whole log, which, because the price is by weight, this means it will be pretty pricey. Those logs are hefty! It also makes it hard to want to try different ones. I know most places usually sell them in a variety of sizes, so was bummed this spot didn't. What I tried: - chocolate baklava: this was good, similar to other spots. - baklava cheesecake: this was so good! the cheese wasn't too sweet, so that was perfect. It was flaky and just so good! I would go back for this! And to check out what else they have to offer. The service was efficient and good, which I appreciated. They weren't too busy when I went in so that was nice as well. The ambiance is super cute!
This place is delightful! I stopped by this place to give myself a little treat in lieu of my birthday. While a little bit on the pricey side for me, their desserts and coffee are delicious. They charge by the lb for their desserts just an FYI. My favorite ones in order was the Baklava with dates, the pastry with Pistachio creme and then the traditional Baklava. The customer service was good, but could have been a little better in regard to character and joy to be in a position to serve others. Nevertheless, 4.5 out of 5 star experience!
The baklava tasted like the ones I had Greece where I had the most delicious and scrumptious baklava. The pistachios latte was delicious; wished I had ordered it in large though. It was that good! The ambience was very nice and cozy. Perfect place for us for an afternoon tea time. The service was also superb! We will be back very soon!

After finishing dinner, I decided to check out a dessert spot just down the street, and I'm so glad I did! I was absolutely blown away by the desserts here. I tried the Baklava Cheesecake, and wow--it was one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had. The combination of creamy cheesecake and the rich, sweet flavors of baklava was incredible. My taste buds were in heaven! I also picked up some mini baklava pieces, and they were just as delicious--fresh, flaky, and packed with flavor. To top it all off, I ordered a caramel latte, and it was amazing. The coffee was smooth, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the desserts. The customer service was excellent, and everyone was friendly and welcoming. If you're in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and stop by. You definitely won't be disappointed. loved this place. It had such a modern & warm interior!! Baklava is $25/lb and Turkish delight is $18/lb. Kinda $$ and the desserts are extremely sweet, but so well done. Loved how fresh, buttery, and flakey everything was. I also really enjoyed the chew and flavor of the lokum -- they were rosewater flavored! Would be a perf place to study at. I've had this place saved for a while and finally made it there--honestly, not sure what took me so long. The space is gorgeous and lowkey made me feel like I had been transported to Turkey (I wish). We were greeted right away, and the woman helping us (possibly the owner) was so kind and recommended a few baklava options for us to try since it was our first time. They sell them by the pound, but we went with one of each: original, powdered sugar, and the chocolate pistachio finger. Drinks: pistachio latte + iced mocha latte My goodness... everything was heaven-sent. The baklava and drinks paired perfectly--we left no crumbs. I'm literally drooling just thinking about it while writing this. Definitely coming back soon. read more

Gorgeous pastries and inside decor. The two ladies working were so helpful and informative. They explained each type of baklava and they made our drinks to taste preference! I loved that they asked if we like them sweet or strong. This makes a huge difference to ensure people enjoy what they ordered in a new place! Very friendly staff! I had an iced pistachio latte! Oh so delicious I will be back! We tried the Dubai chocolate and several baklava and tiny eclairs. All good but the walnut baklava with the big round walnut in the middle was my favorite crunchy and nutty with less honey. Next time I'm trying the pistachio layered cake. My son had the Mexican mocha and he loved it! They have Turkish coffee so I will be back In the fall on a cool day for that! read more
Looking for a sweet treat in El Cajon? This is a must try. With a variety of sweets there's something for everyone here. The interior is spacious and a nice spot to sit and enjoy a treat. It was a little hot inside though. I was drawn to the assortment of baklava. So many options it was hard to choose! They are 25ish dollars a pound and for 4 medium pieces I paid around $12. A little pricey but very delicious. They unfortunately don't serve water, they only sell bottle water for $2.50. The service is great and the staff is knowledgeable about the variety of baklavas. There is free 2 hour street parking available in front of the shop. read more

Came here for the knafeh. I'll say it tasted great and authentic, but it was wayyyyy too sweet. I'd recommend getting the syrup on the side. Also tried some Turkish delight -- it was decent. read more

Stumbled on this bakery while on a little road trip. First thing I noticed was the street parking. Lots and lots of street parking. The bakery is massive plenty of seating that can accommodate large groups. It is also really pretty. The worker there told me they make all the baklava themselves including the cakes. The place was really clean and the workers were welcoming. The bakery is also attached to a Mediterranean restaurant next door that is opened from 9AM to 2 PM. I ordered the pistachio rose and pistachio sugar powdered baklava. Both 10/10. I couldn't leave without a pistachio latte and so I ordered mine. I did ask for less sweetener and it was perfect. I ordered my treats to go but ended up staying for an hour! Sometimes is best to enjoy your treats while people watching. There is something relaxing about sitting in a place, alone and indulging in the little time we have in our daily life. A must stop place!!!!!! read more
I drove by, noticed this bakery, and decided to stop by for a sweet treat. I asked the employee if the price is per piece, and she said it was by weight. I ordered 3 pieces of baklava and 1 Turkish delight. When I asked her how much it was going to be when she weighed it as she had it on a scale, she wouldn't tell me. This was confusing as she just finished weighing it. I would have preferred to know how much those items were going to cost before ordering my beverages but was kept in the dark until my total was well over $30. My daughter wanted plain milk but the cashier upsold her for a $6 hot chocolate which I didn't appreciate either. Overall, the sweets are pretty but the taste is mediocre and dry, and the service could have been better. read more

love, love, loved Sultán Baklava! We went on a Sunday evening and it wasn't packed, which was perfect. They have such a big variety of baklava, cakes, and other desserts. It was my first time and, being an introvert, I got a little too shy to ask about every single baklava. I really wish they would label them with short descriptions so customers could read and choose. I think this would also help on busier days for people who aren't familiar with all the options. That said, it didn't take away from my experience at all. I ended up choosing by looks (after all, you do eat with your eyes first!) and the guy helping was super kind answering my questions about the ones I picked. Every single piece I tried was absolutely delicious. The chocolate one was a bit drier in texture for me, but still so good. My favorite was definitely the classic pistachio. The place itself was spotless and very nicely decorated. It felt a little fancier than your typical coffee shop, which made the experience even better. We also ordered the pistachio and Mexican iced lattes, and wow... both were amazing. Not overly sweet, so you still taste the coffee, but the flavors were distinct and not all blended into "generic latte" like at other places. I just moved to the area and had been searching for a go-to coffee spot, and I think I finally found it. Can't wait to come back and try more! read more
Amazing place. Everything is delicious but my favourites are turkish delight which is available in many flavors. Chocolate and pomegranate are 2 on top of my list. Prices are reasonable too. Very clean and spacious. Havent tried their cakes and pastries yet but will do soon. Servers are quick and helpful. read more

Over $50. 3 ppl shared family style. Delicious. 1 coffee. 1 baklava. 1 Turkish tea (like Lipton) 1 pistachio in jar (think tiramisu w/o liqueur) 1 eggs (4) w. Turkish sausage. Comes out sizzling like fajitas. Eggs end up cooking a hard yolk with a crust bottom. 1 eggs w. Cheese & bell peppers. Both dishes come with pita. 2 waters (they hear bottle so if if want tap, specify). The establishment is nicely decorated and immaculately cleaned. The menu is limited but delicious. Seems like dessert are where they are long amd strong. The restaurant was closed for renovation so we ate in the bakery side of the building. Order at the counter, grab a number, have a seat. They bring the food out. I asked for my dessert first but was overruled by the matriarch of the house. Lol. Love traditional, old school, family owned establishments. I'll be back. read more
I can't believe my review for Sultan Baklava has been on draft mode for so long! Been consistently coming here every time I am in El Cajon downtown area. It is such a beautiful coffee shop where you don't see people with laptops just group of friends or families or solo like me hanging, talking, enjoying the Habibi music and the gorgeous chandelier while enjoying the excellent coffee and sweets. I love everything here and typing right now from there:) read more

Fully hooked on coffee and sweets and this place has both. It is a large space so great for meeting people for a coffee date and the service is great. There is an array of goodies AND they have the Dubai chocolate bar which was just lovely. The people I went with were obsessed with the iced strawberry matcha. I got the Turkish coffee and a chai and both hit the spot :::beverage queen::::: It's worth checking out and getting a drink and some goodies. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for so long. Decided to stop in since we had lunch nearby. My husband loves sweets so he got the little biscoff cake and we got 3 baklava. The biscoff cake was a huge disappointment. It didn't taste like biscoff at all. It was actually banana inside which was confusing. The baklava was pretty good. I do think it would be helpful to have another employee on since there was a guy behind us waiting to order baklava and didn't want to wait anymore and left. read more

Went back to get a cake for a birthday and the fruit isn't as fresh as before. The cake was still good but we had to pick the fruit off as it had mold. I didn't take a picture of the cake but I did take a picture of this fruit tart which also had expired fruit that I had to pick off. Disappointed in the quality this time because you're paying premium prices. I frequently support this business but I feel as if they're not staying on top of shelf rotation, and freshness. If you see visually unappealing/mold fruit why wouldn't you pick it off and replace it with fresh at least. Discount the molded fruit if you have to sell it past due. The ones in the front of the case were fresh but the one they gave me was a disaster. Don't know why they'd look at this product and still feel comfortable serving it to customers honestly. read more

Do they keep the door open? I am concerned about staying completely indoor in pandemic.
I've only been there once, but in that one time I went the door was open all the time. I've also noticed that they have a private table in the back.
