This is one of the strangest places I've ever eaten at. Perhaps it's reminiscent of a truck stop in the Deep South. The overall interior is tired and old. The wallpaper is stained and visibly peeling off the walls. One wall is filled with flyers and ads. There is a long sitting counter with keyboard drawers probably circa 1989. Five new flatscreen TVs side by side still with the energy star stickers on them line the side wall above a counter filled with piles of dismantled electronics (I assume they will be for additional menu displays). A big sign at the main counter where you place your order states "No tables / only takeout" although all tables are open and people are dining in. The owners are an older Asian couple that are super friendly and laugh and joke with the locals/regulars that come in. I was killing time while my wife was shopping at a store across the parking lot and ordered an egg and cheese on an English muffin and a coffee. The egg was microwaved. The coffee was at or near the boiling point and was decent. Perhaps a small step above Dunkin'. The egg and cheese on an English muffin was only $2.25 and tasted decent for what it was. Overall it was a good value but the dilapidated interior was a bit of a turnoff although the people watching here is great. read more

The danish was stale, the cruller was stale and had a bad oil taste and was soggy with oil and the jelly filled also had a bad oil taste. I'm guessing the frying oil hasn't been changed in a while. We took our grandchildren to the Donut Connection for a treat around 2:00 pm. We were the only customers in the place. We told the lady behind the counter that we wanted to get a dozen donuts and the kids were making their selections. As we were deciding, the lady behind the counter got very adamant that we needed to order quickly. When we did not immediately place our order, she slammed shut the donut box that she had gotten out for our order, threw it onto the back shelf, and walked away. As we were about to call the lady over to tell her our selections, another customer entered the store. We told him to go ahead of us and he put in his order, got it, and left. We then asked the lady two questions about the donuts that we had selected. She gave a curt reply in answer to one of the questions. She did not answer the second question and demanded our selections. Then, as another customer was coming in the door, the counter person again threw down our empty box and told us that she was going to serve the other customer before taking our order. We told her that we were ready to order but she refused to talk to us and addressed the customer coming in the door. We then left and went to the grocery store across the street where we, to our surprise, found all but one of the type of donuts that we would have purchased at the Donut Connection. And they cost less. We will not be going back to the Donut Connection. read more

WORST PLACE EVER BEEN TO.... So basically 25 minutes later, over $50 spent, we were berated non-stop despite trying to resolve and explain the situation, and recieved nothing but a head ache. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE... it's not very clean looking either, and food was being microwaved FULL STORY: Went there to get breakfast before a funeral service....we ordered 6 breakfast sandwiches and got 6 drinks... We had a car full of people waiting... The man seemed nice and tried to get all the orders together but once everything was totaled up to over $50, it seemed like there was some mischarges... After we did some calculations... Our total should have been around $40... There was a woman also working there and taking care of other customers. By this time, the guy had already started making sandwiches and seeing as we were on a tight schedule and he was already kinda frazzled keeping things straight, I said let's just take one of these donuts packs (worth $5) and we'll call it a difference. I was gonna let him know what happened when I got back from giving the donuts and drinks to the car since we had some more time to wait for the sandwiches. When I came back, the woman was screaming at me telling me I stole the donuts and I said "no, I'm right here, we were overcharged... I took the donuts to make up for the difference... If you recalculate it, you'll see .. if it's correct, I'll pay for them". She continued to tell me I was a theif and stealing the donuts and saying it was because how I carried the donuts and multiple drinks to the car... screaming at the top of her lungs .. I kept repeating the same thing over and over .. we were mischarged... I'll pay if the calculations were done correctly, but I'm sure you'll see you owe us more than that... The guy was still making the sandwiches as this woman is freaking out and screaming at the top of her lungs. and basically berating me and my family who's calmly trying to explain the situation again for the 3rd time... My cousin just says "hey, can I get more sugar for my coffee?", She rudely ignored her then said "no, I didn't ring you up, then pointed to the man." Saying if she she more sugar we would have to go through him and there would be a charge. Then proceeds to screan at me again about how I was stealing despite us explaining multiple times the situation (and saying we would pay for it if the calculations were done correctly) , so now I'm raising my voice because shes apparently not understanding and we are getting frustrated. At this point we have wasted 20 minutes, have a car full of hungry people, and just feel attacked... My cousin was like "I'm done! You can keep it all!"... The sandwiches weren't even near completion, and she kept screaming even after I told her to "calm down, we'll sort it out", and even the man agreed... So we left... Awesome. We got a chocolate frosted donut, blueberry donut and 2 iced coffees and were super happy with the food and service. So many of the negative reviews have to do with it being outdated or not having milk substitutes but I think it's endearing to keep an older vibe. I worked in this place a long time ago--around when the Earth cooled, I think--Anyway, I was getting ready to leave and explore new places when the new couple took over so I've known them for a good 20 years. They always greet me with a smile, remember my name, and ask how my family is doing. It's a nice experience. Nothing has changed as far as recipes and service go, although I will say the coffee has improved. It used to be too strong, but it seems the corporate may have changed the brewing. My father recently had surgery and he was craving some donuts, so I stopped to pick some up for him and everyone in there still knows me. It's amazing. The donuts were fresh and delicious and my dad ate them up while I sipped the coffee when I went to visit him. read more

This is the worlds worst Donut Shop in Cape May County. Stay away. The Asian guy who waited on me tried to stuff 8 donuts in a bag. When i politely asked him to put them in a box, he refused and told me i had to buy a dozen. I then responded by offering to pay for the box and he again refused. He said "you BUY dozen!" I said , forget it, I'll just take the coffee and that his customer service was bad. He told me that's ok he don't need my business. I then told him i will tell all my friends what a rude man he is and that this will go to YELP. I tried to pay for my coffee with my debit card and he refused to take my card. If you go in the morning, which I usually do, there is a sweet couple that have been there for years managing the rush. They are a very efficient and friendly team, and greet many of their customers by name and remember the customers' usual orders. The regular coffee is the best coffee in Cape May County. While they gladly accept credit cards, their credit card system is a little tedious so I recommend you just pull out the singles or even the quarters you have rolling around the console to get in and out quicker. read more

We stopped here in late September after realizing that Frog Hollow was closed (it was a Monday). The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and polite. If you are unfortunate enough to have to deal with the woman (I believe she was the gentleman's wife), leave and go elsewhere. She is pushy, unprofessional and RUDE. We ordered three breakfast sandwiches, coffees and said we would get a dozen donuts. Since the shelves were not labeled, my mom tried to ask what three of the donuts were. The woman had the audacity to ask if my mom was getting donuts or not and said "it is the rush hour." (There were 2-3 other people in the store.) Lady, my mom grew up here but we live in the DC area now - YOU DON'T KNOW rush hour. I gave a 2-star review because the breakfast sandwiches were tasty, but someone needs to put a muzzle on that woman or keep her back in the kitchen-she does not need to be interacting with customers. Most of the Donuts are of the super market variety. Many are too doughy, thick and rather tasteless. Very little cream or jelly in the filled Donuts. Best is to go with apple fried pastry. Pastries are good when fresh. Always ask if the pastries are fresh or a few days old ? Day old should always be half price. Also a good question to ask " when were the donuts made? Donuts are fresh the rest stale. The owner Jimmy does make fresh donuts everyday but the pastery is days old depending on which day you go the pastry and bagels will sit out until all are sold. Then they make more. So the pastry or bagels you buy may be two or three days old and they charge you as though they are fresh. windows haven't been washed in a long while and tables seem to be washed monthly. I have sat at a table with spilled coffee for three weeks until one day it was washed. They touch money and then touch your food with little regard for hygiene . I've seen them make change slice a English muffin wipe an egg all without cleaning work area or hands they rub their noses and faces then grab your food. They do have great coffee but no wifi. Every other place around here offers WiFi but not donut connection . With a line of customers going out the door all morning long gives them little incentive to change anything or provide WiFi or anything they are doing. Apparently the people around there enjoy STALE bagels , pastries no WiFi and dirty places. As for me I,m glad I'm going home to clean stores with fresh items and windows I can see out of while enjoining my free WiFi. read more
