When I finally couldn't stand the doughnut cravings anymore I decided to give in and give this place a shot. The parking lot is small but it wasn't too busy the particular time I visited. The lady behind the counter was nice but very quiet, she didn't say anything from what I recall. I hyped this place up so much in my mind and I was highly disappointed. I don't know if it was just that particular day but the doughnuts were very dry. My apple fritter was not good. I think I've had better doughnuts from Safeway.... Recommendations were for "anything" and "the apple fritter". 5 types of donut holes and an unexpected array of donut options were available. Sparkles are my fav, I guess I'm a kid for life. If you're there at the perfect time, a fresh chocolate ring is one of the great wonders of the world. Donut Day has the best donuts in Portland (yup, you read that right). This place is a hidden gem. I lived in the Pearl during my first year in Portland, and I visited every well-known donut shop in the city. The two that stood out the most were, as you can probably guess, Voodoo and Blue Star. I love Voodoo's 'plushness', creativity, and simplicity. And I love Blue Star's punchy, surprising flavors backed by their precisely executed baking process. I would frequently visit both shops on my walk back from work. Then COVID hit, my office shut down, and I decided to move to the burbs for a better life for the pup. One of the things I thought I'd miss most - the donuts of Portland. I tried a number of local shops in the Hillsboro area. There are a lot of amazing local donut shops out there. I love and appreciate all of them, but they didn't replace Voodoo or Blue Star for me. And then I found Donut Day. The first time I tasted one of their donuts, I was blown away. Their maple bar was heavier and moister than Voodoos. The frosting seemed fresher and yet had a thin, firm shell that provides a satisfying crunch when taking a bit. The yeast donuts are, in my opinion, perfectly balanced. The outside is fresh and crispy, and the inside is fluffy yet moist and substantial. I've tried at least 10 different flavors so far, and every single one has been fantastic. So if you're in the Beaverton or Hillsboro area and craving tasty donuts, there's no need to head downtown. One day I was in getting an apple fritter (the best apple fritters in town) and he said, "Just one minute" and went in the back and brought me a hot fresh mini apple fritter that he was making for a church for the next day. He just gave it to me. If you've never had a hot apple fritter, you are really missing out. But, that's not even the best part about this place. All of the donuts are great! I'm not sure what he does, but they're always crisp on the outside and moist and delicious on the inside. There's a wide variety, including some over large specialty donuts like the "volcano". Donut Day definitely outshines Krispy Kreme, Voodoo Donuts and Sesame Donuts. I know it's a trek for PDXers (T.V. highway just east of SW 185th), but one you should definitely make. read more

Okay, I said I'd give them 5 stars if they had "fancy" donuts. Well, as it turns out, I got there too early last time and they just weren't out yet. The buttermilk is the best buttermilk I've ever seen or heard of and they have a cherry variation that is also good, but almost a bit too sweet. Ill stick with the regular buttermilk. I'd say this is one of the best (if not only) places to grab donuts in the area. Really, your other choices are limited to the nearby grocery stores and Krispy Kreme, but donuts from Donut Day can definitely hold their own regardless of the lack of competition! My go-to is the apple fritter ($1.75), and they have it down to a tee. It's huge with tons of apple bits, and they don't overdo the glaze. They have all the standard donut varieties, in addition to little flavor spins on those standards. The place is tucked away in the back corner of a tiny strip mall off of TV Highway. Look for 'Every Day is a Donut Day'! We live about a mile from here and try to go often. The donuts are delicious and better than the usual Portland spots. But what make this place special is the service. For my son's birthday we went away from the normal cake and my wife ordered donuts that the kids could take home in their own boxes. She special ordered their Devils Food donuts and had them add coloring to the frosting that went with the colors of his party. I picked them up and brought them home and it turned out they missed the special coloring my wife had asked for. So she called and let them know. Not only did they replace the donuts, they delivered the donuts to our house a half hour later. Let us keep all the donuts and even sent her a special "we're sorry" donut. I haven't been to Donut Day in a few years since moving about 30 minutes away but for my birthday I just wanted an apple fritter from there.
