This place is the perfect lil donut spot in a small town.... Fortunately it's located on a busy highway with easy access. The staff was very friendly and the facility was neat, nicely decorated and clean. The donuts were great! We had a variety of donuts and they all tasted wonderful. I also enjoyed the sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and loved it. Such a disappointment. We rarely eat donuts. But we came here for a treat this morning and were instantly disappointed when we got home and went to eat our donuts. There wasn't any raspberry filling inside my donut. The staff were friendly and it's always pretty clean inside. They just really need to do better. read more

Beautiful and delicious donuts! I've wanted to try this place a few times but never had the time. Sooooo glad I finally had time! Let me start by saying the dough looked so plump and appealing. I can tell when someone has mastered their dough by the product produced. The donuts are just plain delicious and melt in your mouth. The croissants where flakey and cooked to the perfect light golden brown. Did I mention they were huge?! Kolaches looked delicious and I will have to try them on the next trip for sure! These donuts are like crack. SO GOOD! My husband and I were passing through town and stopped and I'm so glad we did! We got a sausage, egg and cheese croissant that was delicious. The croissant was soft and warm. The person who helped us was so nice and even threw in some free donut holes, which I couldn't keep my hands off of. On road trips,.we often look for family owned restaurants in lieu of franchises where possible. On our way to SA we passed through Castroville and saw the big Donut Palace sign and came in. As other reviewer and tips left, their donuts and kolaches are good, and they have an espresso machine, though it was out od order today. Very friendly family from Cambodia running this business. Before venturing off to San Antonio for work, I took a risk. I decided to try the "new" donut place in town... If you're from Castroville (or Medina County for that matter) or are familiar with the area, you know Haby's Bakery is a breakfast staple. But I had heard a few people raving about Donut Palace, one of those being my dad, and I consider him fairly reputable. But being as stubborn as I am I refused to support any establishment other than Haby's. However, this morning I guess I awoke without that particular sentiment and I decided to take the turn up the steep slope off Hwy 90 to give these new donuts a try. And as much as I don't want to admit it, they were good! I still don't think their donuts are better than Haby's, but they do have different breakfast options that Haby's doesn't have. For instance Kolaches! They have both fruit and meat kolaches that are tasty. I purchased for my office, 1 dozen glazed donuts and 1/2 dozen sausage and cheese kolaches. With the purchase of a dozen or more donuts, they throw in the donut holes for free too :) The total for my purchase came out to be about $15. I'll go back again and work them into the rotation with Haby's. My loyalty for the moment lies with my Alsatian bakery, but who knows, one day that may change! FYI their hours are from 4 AM - 3 PM, 7 days a week! And they are in the old Dairy Queen building. read more

Just had the best taco I've had in a while. The apple fritter was excellent. You need to try it.
