Customer service was great! Greeted me as soon as walking in and both were happy at 0630 when most are frumps. Selection for ME was great. Seems like they do a little of their own creative twists, and it is cheap. I'm a fan of classic doughnut holes and they were delicious. Homey doughnut shops are nostalgic. I didn't give 5 stars but that's only because I wasn't to impressed with the jalapeño kolache and if I'm not mistaken looks like they use a microwave to heat up the food for customers. My thoughts are a small little toaster oven would make those pastries really give it the "fresh oven" flavor. Maybe I'll try again later. There's coolers of various drinks. Looks like they have coffee drink machine but I didn't try. I'll definitely return here vs going next door to the other chain shops. There is a $4 credit card minimum but that's easy to hit. read more

Woah. Have you ever seen fireworks when biting into fresh out of the oven, melt-in-your-mouth donut holes? Well this is the place to experience that! It's hard to explain, just go get you one. On a Sunday, people still kept stopping by, and it was busy! I can see why as their donuts, kolaches, croissants, and tacos, all provide that dose of magic that'll keep them coming. Awesome and affordable donut shop right down the road, right next to the Anytime Fitness . Donuts are made fresh daily and they give you free munchkin donuts when you order a dozen, for a grand total of about $7.50. So I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2 because my husband liked this place but it was very "meh" to me. I didn't like a single donut and it wasn't even the actual donut part, it was the glaze they use on the outside. I'm used to smooth buttery but it was very hard and crunchy. We even tried to warm it up and that just made it an even bigger mess. The Apple fritter to me tasted like a greasy cinnamon sugar funnel cake (very oil flavor heavy) which I like as a funnel cake but not from an Apple fritter. Jelly donuts were also a little weird to me, especially the texture of the lemon cream/ jelly. Service here was also meh. The boy behind the counter did not want to be there at all. He wasn't very inviting but instead was just like "what do you want?" And very monotone. He also made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. None of the donuts had labels so we needed to ask what some things were and he seemed annoyed by that. So this by far the best donuts and Kolaches that you can find in San Antonio. A small hole in the wall shop but well worth driving on Culebra outside of 1604 to get here. The batter that they use turns into the softest bread and makes for the greatest donuts. There's no novelty donuts here, no crazy donuts with crazy toppings. Just a regular bakery with the best food EVER! read more

I hate to give a local business a bad review but when we went on Sunday morning our experience wasn't great. I woke up craving a chocolate doughnut and blueberry cake, so we went to a close doughnut shop. We ended up getting two sausage and cheese kolaches, two glazed, a chocolate, and a blueberry cake. I'm not trying to be picky but the guy shoved all our doughnuts in the same bag and chocolate frosting got all over the blueberry; not a huge deal, I just peeled that part off. The kolaches were the best part of the order and deserves 2 stars. The doughnuts were DRY and lacking in flavor. To make them more palatable, we dipped them in coffee. After a few bites, we decided they weren't worth the calories. Our teenager did finish them off and promptly stated, "those weren't very good." Our hunt for a goto doughnut shop continues! read more

This was my first time into this store. This store was extremely clean and organized, I did arrive around 1015 in the morning and they still had plenty in there display case. I was greeted immediately through the door and I had informed the women this was my first visit to their store. She kindly said "order when you are ready" I ordered a bacon croissant sandwich which she has warmed up for me. And an Apple fitter. The croissant sandwich was amazing. Good flakey buttery croissant filed with crisp thick cut bacon cheese and an egg that did have a bit of a runny yolk, I love when I get a runny yolk in a sandwich. This may have been a mistake but I loved it. On the apple fritter. One bite into this fresh apple fritter and it brought me right to a carnival. It was warm and crispy. Think of an Apple funnel cake hot out of the fryer. It was to die for! The women did let me know that they were fresh and man were they. I will definitely be back, with amazing service great prices and epic donuts this is defiantly a place you should not pass up read more

The best part of the pastry is it holds together throughout its length. Served pleasantly warm. They also serve a regular kolaches. The croissants are tender and super flaky. For the past four years we have been loyal to this place but I was so disappointed today. We bought donuts and once I got home realized they were dripping excessive oil. I took the first bite and almost choked with all the oil. I called them up to see if they would replace or refund and all they said sorry, I have to see them with my own eyes. Nothing else said. This is my favorite neighborhood donut shop here in Alamo Ranch! I'm going to tell you how amazing they really are I was planning to cook my family some breakfast except we ran out of eggs and I have been to 3 different stores in the last hour looking for eggs, (I just gave up after the 3rd store) My little boy wanted donuts so I stopped in to get donuts and I happen to ask the people working there if they had any eggs they could possibly spare and sell me because I've been everywhere looking for them, he rings up my order it's only $5.73 and I asked again if they were able to spare the eggs and he replied "Yes we do but we're just gonna give them to you, it's $5.73" I insisted to please charge me and the said no and smiled at me as the brought out the half carton of eggs This is simply kindness of Texans helping Texans prayer Note: This act of kindness happened 2 days after the Winter storm that hit Texas. Had the jumbo kolaches and donut holes and I didn't enjoy it at all. I actually couldn't eat it. The sausage tasted like pepperoni or something and had a weird smell to it and the donuts were too sweet and greasy? I know it's fried bread and sugar but it was way too heavy. Aggressive drivers, anxious shoppers, and every retail worker putting in a Nikola Jokic triple-double. I understand it is a different beast of food service when it is December 24th. Christmas breakfast is what starts off your day before ripping through presents, and this year my parents thought Duck Donuts' Christmas-themed donuts would be a fun change of pace from the cinnamon pull aparts that we normally do. On Christmas Eve, we placed a mobile order on the Duck Donuts website, which requires a mandatory tip to order online, and we selected the ASAP option that said it would take about 30 to 40 minutes. My dad, who was in charge of picking them up, said they were kind of behind and typically that was fine. However, as the donuts were coming out of the fryer, they were immediately decorating them with the icing and the crazy and unique Duck Donuts toppings. When the order was ready, my dad noticed that the dozen donut box was quite hot. Donuts are not usually served warm like that. When he got home to show them to us, all the designs of their gingerbread and other Christmas flavors had melted. All the creams had completely melted. It looked gross. We put them in the fridge to try and preserve them from melting any more, but only so much could be done to salvage them from their depressing state. It was a little tragic. I feel like this is a very rare occurrence from Duck Donuts, as we have had donuts from this location before and enjoyed them. It felt like the fault of Christmas special orders and the rush that led to a breakfast disaster from what was meant to be a special start of the morning. All things considered, the donuts were fine. They tasted okay, but they gooped up in your hands and just felt wasteful. For the price, you would hope they would not melt before you got home. Duck and cover donuts. Recommend: Yes…read more After visiting Karolinas, I was in the mood for some coffee and a quiet spot to read, and I happened upon San Antonio Gold--so glad I did! At first, from the outside, I thought I was walking into a barbershop because of the door, but stepping inside was a fun surprise. The space is really unique--almost like a mini indoor shopping mall. The coffee shop is right at the front, but as you walk further back, there's a barbershop and a few other small shops to explore. Despite all that, it still has a chill, relaxed vibe. Plenty of seating and big windows make it perfect for hanging out with a book. I ordered the Holiday Inn Cambodia coffee, and it was fantastic. the service was great. Barista gave me a few recommendations. I'll definitely be back--this is a great spot to unwind, read, or just get out of the house for a little while. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

From its humble beginnings of a few bar stools, limited menu, and a small space to the wide open space that is Gold today, the constants have been killer coffee, awesome service, and great convo if it's not a mad rush. From standard drip to espresso to imaginative inventions, the coffee is top notch. If you're hankering for something different, talk to them a they will take care of you. Staff has always been awesome and they definitely know what they're doing. I once asked about chemex ratios and was given an on the spot class. If you don't like good coffee, good service or a solid place to chill, then this may not be your place. Also, they let me bring my doggo, Pancho, in, what's not to love?!

As I said, everything was phenomenal. Unfortunately, there is one issue we cannot look past, although we have tried. The bagels are delicious, but they are the absolute wettest, slippery and slidey-est bagels I've ever had in my life. The meal is spent looking down and hoping my beloved or other guests don't see the schmear up to my nose. By the end, we are having to reconstruct our bagel, as it looks like roadkill on the table. It is not a user error, as we eat slowly and carefully. I even have friends who refuse to come back here because it was the messiest eating experience of their lives. It's so unbelievably messy. We have to rinse off in their bathroom before leaving. I have to take my rings off and put my hair up. It's a commitment, one we are not strong enough to make at this point. Delicious, but.... we must bid you farewell, Boss Bagel. Godspeed.

All the proteins were cooked perfectly. The real winner was the lemongrass Banh mi with once again perfectly proportioned ingredients. We also ordered the fresh spring roll, which never came but wasn't missed except that they did try to charge us for but did remove them. They definitely have some work to make this a comfortable dining experience but I wouldn't let it stop you from trying some phenomenal Vietnamese food.
