How lucky we are to have Donut Palace in Leavenworth! They're open 7 days a week, and the owners are such sweet people. Great service! The doughnuts are FANTASTIC! Definitely the best ones around for several miles! An employee told me they usually sell out of the bear claws rather quickly and are known for them. Located in an unassuming "drive in" previously known as Sonic , you will find the donut palace. Don't be concerned by outward appearances, the palace is a GEM. The place itself has no seating inside, and even at 12 pm, had a lined up drive thru. We pulled up to the window , and smelled heaven!! The staff was so kind and accommodating. We ordered a few of our favorites that set the baseline for any new donut shop. A chocolate covered long john filled with white "fluff" reminiscent of birthday cake frosting, and plain glazed donuts. Always a good sign- The man said they fill to order. The donut was the lightest I have ever eaten! Soft and yeasty, they were like a cloud. The flavors were authentic- no artificial flavorings here!
