Johnny's Donuts should be a Kansas City staple. With affordable pricing and delicious treats this quick stop just can't be beat. We had wonderful service from the woman working at the window. She was attentive, thoughtful, and patient with those of us in line. The doughnuts oozed just the right about of grease and had a lovely balance of light but substantial dough. For two Long John's, a regular twist, and a cinnamon roll we payed $8.40. We walked away doughnuts in stow, content with our experience in the store. Although, the best experience was downing those doughnuts like there was no tomorrow. We can't wait to come back to try savory food like burgers and fries. We'll just have to remember to grab cash before we head over to Johnny's!

The donuts are pretty good! Very, very soft and squishy with lots of glaze. 6 glazed and 1 long John cost us about $13, which honestly seems like a lot for what we got. The woman at the counter also didn't say anything to us other than the total of our order, which was strange, but oh well. I'd recommend you stop and try them if you happen to be nearby!

Wow! These are fantastic donuts. The smell of this place is heavenly. I also appreciate the precautions they are taking in regards to Covid-19. My husband is excited to come back and try some of the food items! EDIT: Husband had the donut cheeseburger and LOVED it. They've set up even more precautions for Covid with a sign at the door that says "no mask, no entry." The small space is limited to 4 people at a time. I'm really happy about this, probably the safest takeout business in the city. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. My only wish is that they'd take cards, but I understand cash only for a small family business. Since they are limiting their space to 4 people at a time; Here's some good pictures of the menu to help you decide what you'd like before you get there .

When my Mom was at St. Luke's Hospital on the Plaza in 2019, I discovered this place. I was a little thrown by the cash only thing, but no biggie. I get it. Small businesses struggling to survive often can't afford the fees charged by the credit card companies. Same with the bulletproof glass I read some complaints about on here. I understand how they want to stay as safe as possible, and this seems like a reasonable remedy. So what if we're kinda yelling back and forth? It's part of the experience! Moving on... Johnny's classic glazed was the last donut my Mom had before her death, and she REALLY enjoyed it! I went there every morning to get her one when she was pronounced terminal. I wanted her to have a little deliciousness in what was left of her life. My son and I went there as a part of an homage after her passing. For that, despite being a fitness nut, I have remained a loyal customer who will make the trip from Lee's Summit specifically for Johnny's Donuts for my monthly "Cheat Meal." I love the classic glazed, and my husband loves the Long John. I've tried the cheeseburgers and fries, too, and they are mmm, mmm, good!!! My husband says the tenderloin sandwich is delish!!! 100% worth the drive into the city for a different and delicious experience! Don't be deterred by "the neighborhood" or the bulletproof glass. Like everywhere else in this world there are all kinds of people, mostly good, there. Stuff happens everywhere. The zip code should not be an automatic indictment of the establishment. This place ROCKS when you gotta get your donut on!

    O. M. G. THIS jewel right here!!! The location is of no consequence, meaning you would drive by and never notice it. It is a small shop with a BIG offering. I had the donut cheeseburger. I have been looking for one for YEARS but couldnt find one. The service was SUPER friendly. The lady taking our order was extremely patient as we kept adding and changing our order! And the prices, the prices are soooooooo reasonable. I will Definitely be returning here!!!

This place by far has the best glazed donuts in K.C. The donuts have a slight crunch like every perfect glazed should, they have a nice pillowy fuff, and they have the right amont of sweetness without being too sweet. If you are a donut fanatic and want the best this city has to offer, this isbm definitely the place. They also have items like: burgers, catfish, chicken, and wings that are also very tasty.

What appears to be a mom and pop bakery is actually a baker who has carefully done his research and brings himself up to date on the latest trends of flavor in the baking world. The vibes are amazing - I especially love the art piece on the wall he commissioned from a local artist. I saw the Instagram page with several posts explaining how he did each part. Everything was absolutely delicious (I am biased with the ham and gruyere cheese since that is a favorite combo of mine), the danish was delicious (I could tell maybe it uses veryberryosa - a recent trend in baking to be used as filling), and the same was probably on the cinnamon roll looking crossaint. Now the grand prize - the mochi donuts were spectacular. The flavors I got were raspberry almond (my #1 favorite I got twice), cereal (this was carefully curated and not too sweet like most cereal based baked goods), Irish coffee (didn't taste like coffee, gave it to a friend) and the mango black tea was also a slam dunk for me. The staff are incredibly friendly here which is a huge plus!

My matcha of the day was a Salted Caramel Matcha with Salted Cold Foam, and my boyfriend ordered the Toasty Coast Coconut Cinnamon Latte. Once again, as someone who doesn't typically drink coffee, I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed his latte. This seasonal drink (must try for the coffee lovers) is bold and flavorful, with sweet notes of toasted marshmallow and a hint of coconut that balances it out so perfectly. My matcha was smooth and subtle, but the added salted caramel gave it a punch of flavor that made it so tasty. Since we do not eat much, we also shared the Spicy Hawaiian Honey Pizza Bagel, with one half topped with pepperoni and the other just cheese. The portion was more than enough for the both of us, as we both only ate half of or halved bagel, but every bite was beyond delicious, packed with sweet and spicy flavors throughout! What a great pick!

The cute shop and incredible staff made my visit itself great overall, but the coffee could be leveled up a bit. Nonetheless, I would visit again :)

The menu had standard donuts along with minis to choose from. The service was friendly. We opted for the squad pack ($18.99) which included fifteen minis. For some reason, only five flavors could be picked. They were made to order so it took around twenty minutes to come out fresh and hot. The flavors picked were birthday cake, French toast, s'mores, nutter butter, and peanut butter cup. They were of the cake variety. The texture for them was a little crunchier than I thought, but still okay. The warmness really made up for that. My favorite was the French toast as it had very an apparent flavor. The nutter butter was disappointing. The birthday cake was sweet, but not overly done while the s'mores had a nice marshmallow fluff. The peanut butter cup was alright with just enough peanut butter flavor. Will I go back? Meh.
