I've been on a donut crave lately, and this happened to be the closest one. I love supporting local mom n pop shops, so I had to stop by! Upon walking in, I could smell the coffee and donuts, bringing me back to my childhood of visiting donut shops with my mom. It's a small place, so it's mainly grab n go. The gentleman behind the display greeted me with such a bright smile and was so friendly throughout the entire interaction. There were so many options to pick from but I knew exactly what I wanted lol : simple chocolate glazed donut. I also picked up a maple bar for my bf and some donut holes since they looked really good hehe + a half a dozen of donut holes was only $1! He was also just such a sweet man that he offered me a free glazed donut :') Everything came out to just a little under $6, which is so good! I didn't have cash, so I did pay with my card, so there is an extra 0.50 charge for fees which is fine for the convenience. The donuts were so yummy! They were soft, not too dense, and not too sweet. It definitely hit the spot. Will come back for sure!!! read more

Fresh, quick, and delicious! This is a great spot to pick up a dozen donuts for the family or just grab a couple for yourself. Donuts are amazing, customer service is unmatched, this is mine and my boys' favorite donut shop! Family owned and operated, they remember their regulars always. Fantastic donuts! They were hot and fresh out the fryer... some flavors I had never seent before, like an apple fritter wrapped in a bear claw! The coffee was great, and the service was cheerful and nice. They have specials on posters posted around the shop with pictures of the hits! A lot of retirees in the parking lot on Sunday's for the "cars and coffee", check out their hot rods while you nibble on an English muffin breakfast sando. read more

Got some donuts from Donut Star this morning on my way to work. I've been here a few times and what makes me keep coming back is that the donuts are really good and freshly made. They have a variety of donuts, croissants, breakfast sandwiches, drinks. The place is small but has plenty to offer. I think this is easily a hidden gem. Honestly I saw their post in the instagram and was hoping their donuts were good. They weren't. The apple fritter was extremely dry and was not even close to being sweet. It was almost vegan-like. Also if you're like 98% of the world and don't carry cash, be prepared to pay a 75 cent convenience fee to use your card. read more

We love the service and options at this don't shop. Donuts are fresh and delicious. Our kids pick something different each time and love every donut they have tried. Absolutely INCREDIBLE SERVICE!!! I've been to a couple of donut places this year, but this has to be my absolute favorite!!! The owner is so kind and welcoming, he greeted me a smile and kind words!!! When I entered his establishment, one of his regulars was sitting down enjoying his donut and coffee. He said he had been a regular for many years!! I felt so welcomed and seen just for being there!!! The donuts are just as delicious, if not more, than how welcoming I felt. Right when entering we were welcomed by the friendly owners and they also helped guide us through their selections. They have a lot to choose from, between the donuts and croissants so you'll probably find something for everyone. We got the chocolate with sprinkles, cream filled, maple bacon cronut, and ham & jalapeño croissant. Everything was good, although the maple bacon was too sweet for me. It's a small shop, so really more of a grab and go experience. We came on a Sunday morning and there was a car meet taking place right outside. So, I used to live in Chino Hills and this was my donut shop go-to! Three years ago I moved to Georgia and the donuts here are nothing close to California donuts! I crave them all the time! So recently I came back for a visit and Donut Star was one of my first stops!! Linda was working and she is the sweetest lady! I bought several donuts, including apple fritters, my favorite! We just moved to Chino Hills and wanted to grab breakfast for my boyfriend's birthday today. We decided to stop by Donut Star and were welcomed right away with smiles and a good morning. Great place to relax and welcome the morning, every Sunday in Chino Hills. Come get some breakfast, coffee, donuts and take a stroll around the parking lot for some cool cars. The staff in Donut Star are hospitable, freindly, and make some good breakfast. I recommend the Croissant with Eggs and Bacon, early morning favorite. I also look at the donuts and they smell delicious... But don't have the courage to eat one! LOL. Too much sugar for me. read more

Stumbled upon this place and I am hooked! The owner, Alan and Linda are such a nice couple. Their donut is so good and their sandwich is amazing. They use all fresh ingredients and both of my daughters love the Turkey sandwich. My husband and I came for the classic car gathering and decided to try the donut shop. There was a small line that went fairly quick. I got 2 Ham and cheese croissants with egg. The ham and cheese croissant is already made so they cook the egg and then heat everything together. It was really big and very good. I also got an assortment of 3 donuts and one chocolate custard cronut. The Cronut and Chocolate filled/chocolate topped donut were our favorites. Everything was good, service was friendly and the prices fair. We will definitely be back for the donuts and the Sunday classic car gathering! read more

What an awesome business. Alan is always nice and good energy, him and his wife. Awesome people. Good prices, you always get a smile and professional business with these guys. It's interesting... Kind of dark since majority of the place is painted black so pictures inside didn't turn out so nice unless you had it at a good angle near the window but I wasn't really here to take pictures, I was really here to try what they're offering. Donuts: The donuts are pretty, that's for sure. Plenty of options and donuts I think ranged in pricing depending on the specialty level. The ones we got range from $4-$7. We got half a dozen donuts along with breakfast items & coffee to try. We got the ube mochi, hello kitty character, unicorn, Banana Pudding, Oreo and Nutella donuts to try. The design are very eye catching for sure. Donuts are nice and fluffy and packed with flavors. Kids really enjoyed them. They're a bit pricey and not something you can regularly buy in this type of economy on a daily basis. To me, they're fun to buy for special occasions and that's probably what we'll do for birthdays or events. For the food, we got a PD breakfast burrito. They offered to cut it in half. The burrito itself is already $16. They asked if we wanted to add cheese or avocado. I was curious and did it. We added cheese and avocado at an extra cost to it. Cheese was $1 and Avocado was $2.50. Extra salsa was 51 cents. It's the size of my hand and a hefty looking burrito. At that point, it's really a questionable choice of why am I spending almost $20 on a burrito.. Haha but it was a decent burrito but in the end, everything was an extra cost after the initial order of the item. Would I buy it again? No. Was it worth it? Not really. But definitely good to try if you are craving a breakfast burrito and don't mind the price. Drinks: We ordered the Ube Vietnamese coffee and Sea Salt Cold Brew. We added an extra shot to the cold brew. The cold brew was good. The Ube Vietnamese coffee was good too. It's a premade coffee drink and not customizable. It's more on the sweeter end than a traditional Vietnamese coffee. I usually like it not as sweet but it was the combo that I was curious about and went with it. Good flavors. Wished the coffee was a bit more bolder for the Vietnamese coffee part but it's not bad. Service was nice and friendly. Everyone was very approachable and I appreciated the explanations and recommendations while deciding.

And despite being a "small" space, there always seems to be plenty of seating, which is such a plus. This time I tried the Tiramisu Matcha. The tiramisu definitely added sweetness to the matcha. It was good, but I think next time I'd love to try one of the other matchas on the menu! Also, shoutout to how quickly they finished making both my drink and my friend's!

It is a little pricy but so so worth the money. For two sandwiches and two large matches we spent $48. I would have no problem paying that again for the quality we received.
