Feeling kind of hungry, but not wanting to fully eat breakfast before work, I decided to stop by for some donuts. Donut Storr is conveniently located on the way to work for me so I decided to give it a shot. There were not too many people inside which made for easy getting in and out of the tight parking area out front. I ordered a dozen donut holes and a chocolate bar. Pretty standard donuts to order. The donut holes tasted just like they should of. The chocolate bar though was very interesting. I have had 100s of chocolate bars in my life and I swear this one was different. I am pretty sure it was the chocolate icing itself, but it could of also been the donut that seemed a little over cooked. Either way it was just not as satisfying as I had hoped it was. I've been coming here for years. Unfortunately my past two visits were not great. First when I went in, they told me that my previous visit payment transaction did not go through. Hard to believe as they always give me a receipt. But in good faith I paid off that receipt of $14 on top of what I had just purchased. Today I went in and handed them $20 (a ten and two fives), they told me my total was $21 so I ran to the car to get the extra dollar... even gave them a $2 tip upon return... and they told me I only gave them two fives. Rip off! Was busy so they just brushed us off like it's ok just take it. No. I don't do that. Gave them back the food and they did not return my money. Never going back again. read more

New owners. I'm not a fan of how the donuts and ham n cheese croissants are made. The previous owners did a superior job. The glazes are messy and melts very quickly. Had a Boston cream pie and it was overly sweet. read more

It's hard to believe no one has mentioned their AMAZING ham and cheese croissants yet! They're extra flaky and buttery, which makes them quite an indulgence, but unbelievably delicious! Unfortunately, they skimp out quite a bit on the ham, but the cheesy part is baked right into the enormous croissant...mmmm! As for the donuts, they're just aiiight. The muffins are actually pretty gross - they're super hard, crusty, and taste like they've been sitting out for days. Stick with the ham & cheese croissants! :) read more

Donuts are ok like most donut shops but the workers need to observe strict sanitary conditions more like common sense. Twice on 2 different occasions, I saw the male worker (I assume the husband/owner) eat from the glass donut case with bare hands and put back the eaten donut. Great donuts, superb selection but a little too much vanilla for my taste. As my 40th donut review I was excited to get outside of my usual radius of shops and head up to Westminster. I was not disappointed; close to the freeway, great selection, quality donuts and friendly owners. Of course I had the apple fritter, it was well crisped, dense, filled with small apple chunks and veins of cinnamon. But my taste buds said, "too much vanilla, your taking away from the apple-goodness." I also enjoyed an old fashioned buttermilk, again a good donut but the vanilla taste was strong, not my preference. Lastly I shared the Tiger-Tail, it was pretty good, fluffy with hints of cinnamon and not too much vanilla. All and all, I'd go back again but I can't say they were my favorite. read more

Donut Storr is a longtime favorite donut shop for those occasional early morning family breakfasts--we've been getting donuts here once a month for about 10 years. Our favorites are the custard filled bars, bearclaws, old fashioneds, apple fritters and plain old chocolate donuts. They also serve kona coffee, yay! These donuts keep very well for a couple of days and they are competitively priced; they're the best donuts in the city IMO. Still, I would only give this place 4 stars because compared to Krispy Kreme they are a close second and DS is located in a dumpy strip mall; but the lady behind the counter is so charming and sweet that she makes Donut Storr a five star establishment. I think this spot is 24 hours now or at least it's open at 3:00AM-5:00AM when i'm coming home from clubbing. The Apple Fritter is delicious and for only $1.20. Overall, 99% of the donuts are delicious. Nice and moist, good size, and actually stays fairly fresh for a few days. Many times our box of dozen donuts go bad after 1 day but this lasted 2-3 days. mmmmm old donuts! =P What is the 1% that I got beef with? It's the freaking CRULLER. And sadly that's my favorite type of donut in the whole wide world. =( It's small, not fluffy and dense. WTF I'm so sad , but I guess I settle for other types of donuts like the Tiger tail..dee effing licious =) I actually came in the morning while walking my dog and this place was pretty busy with customers too! Staff is very sweet and friendly, even the guy that works the late shift and probably wonders why I'm wearing what I'm wearing and still out at 4am stopping to buy a donut. LOL read more

The sweet looking old woman working here tricked us into getting a dozen donuts for $8, which is the biggest rip. We paid her in all $1 bills and she scammed us another dollar or two. I love sugar, but the icing and filling for these donuts was over-the-top sweet. The crullers didn't have that distinct cruller taste, and the fritters had a very mushy filling, almost like there wasn't any bread inside, or like the bread liquified in the apple mush. The prices aren't terribly high or low. Some of the donuts are larger than average. Probably won't be back, and wouldn't recommend it. But it wasn't the worst donut place in the world. read more

Great little local donut shop. Coffee is freshly ground and really good. I'll take their coffee over Starbucks's coffee any day! The donuts themselves vary. They are good when they are fresh (early in the morning), but otherwise tend to dry out quickly.
