We come here because they have unicorn donuts. Merritt's Bakery, which is less than a mile away, has quite the showcase of bake items...but they have no rainbow, or unicorn donuts! So yay for Donuts at Riverside! Most times, the donuts are fresh...I came in one time when there were flies in the shop, and walked right out. Flies are a no-no. I have been wanting to try this shop for ages and finally this morning the stars aligned and I finally made the 10 mile drive! I believe that this shop is the only one in Tulsa that makes French Crueller donuts the correct way. These were soft, airy and chewy just the way I remembered! Let me give you a back story. I have tossed around the idea of doing a donut tour of the Green Country area. I started close to home & worked my way outward. This donut shop is just south of 91st & Riverside. I have a standard order, blueberry cake & chocolate cake/chocolate icing. I was here late in the morning so there wasn't a large selection . This was partly why I went late, as well as checking how fresh the donuts were outside of peak hours. They had my standard blueberry but we're out of my standard chocolate/chocolate. I chose a cinnamon & sugar cake donut for my #2. The blueberry donut was the best blueberry donut I have ever had. The cinnamon & sugar donut, also excellent. I will go back with my guy. I did notice the apple fritters came in 2 sizes. 2 reasonable, realistic sizes. Wow! So simple, yet thoughtful. The calories, sugar & carbs for these enormous fried morning Kryptonite normally leave me sluggish and flu like symptoms for days. No matter where I purchase them. I usually have my husband in tow who doesn't mind to much that his wife will want a bite from the very center. I believe that if enough people request something enough times, their local donut shop will carry fritters in a variety of sizes...if not, these guys already are doing it! I had never even thought about it untill I saw the Momma Bear and Baby Bear size fritters. This fritter idea made these guys go from 4 stars to 5. This is before I have even eaten the fritter! Can't wait until next Saturday! I went back again with my Guy & then a 3rd time & finally a chocolate/chocolate cake....wasn't worth the wait. Those blueberry ones, man they were bangin! after having an all-night & needing some type of energy, i knew i wanted donuts. i found this spot & once i got to it, i then remembered how i came here YEARS ago. they had a wide selection then, still do now. i had a strawberry cake donut, (mini) apple fritter, bacon sausage roll & cajun roll. the strawberry cake donut was phenomenal, a different direction than my usual blueberry pickup. the apple fritter was perfect as well, i'm glad i got the mini outside the huge sizes you're probably used to. very sweet, slightly crispy, had a slight buttery taste... it was lovely. the bacon sausage roll i HIGHLY recommend. a sausage roll topped with a plethora of bacon, no need to say more about that. the cajun one was interesting. i really couldn't tell what was in it, seemed like canadian bacon/ham, jalapeno & melted swiss cheese. i got a coffee as well, i don't know what else goes better with donuts, it was only right. read more

Donuts on the River do have some tasty donuts, 5 years i have been eating their donuts. Sadly the last 2 years they are some greasy donuts, especially the Maple Bars/Long Johns, (as if they don't change their oil often enough). Have wasted money on the donuts because of oil dripping out of them, Yuck. I have moved on to a new donut shop. read more

Did you know that you can get sushi at a donut shop? You can at this one! Eating sushi at a donut shop for lunch was actually a good experience. Seriously, what could be more American? The place is called Paradise Donuts in the morning and Paradise Sushi Roll & Teriyaki at lunch. It's located at 9675 S. Riverside Drive close to Camille's and Petco. It turns out that it's owned by two former Korean students of mine. They evidently didn't study long enough for me to learn their names or for them to to learn that they should have named the place Paradise Sushi Rolls and Teriyaki. They had a photograph advertisement in the window of the shop that advertised a kid's meal with half a sushi roll, some pieces of teriyaki, and a packaged kool-aid drink. And of course the kid will want a donut for dessert. The prices were really good and I dare say that the sushi (or should I say "kim bob" since it was made by Koreans?) is better than Asahi's. For $8.95, I got an "Energy" roll with crabmeat, shrimp, tempura, avocado, eel, and "special sauce". After some really good miso soup, the sushi roll was so big that there was no way that I could have eaten anything else. However, my pregnant co-worker managed to eat that and a California roll since she was "eating for two". The Energy roll was actually a regular sushi roll with a second layer around it so that it was huge. The wasabi was mild enough that I used it all. Unfortunately, the restaurant only has 2 tables, so the best thing to do is order ahead and pick it up. I highly suggest stopping in someday for sushi and donuts and grabbing a menu to call in your next order. They gave us free donut holes for dessert, but that's probably because they knew me. I had to stuff them in lest I seem ungrateful for their kind gesture. read more
