First things first! Make sure to get on the waitlist at least 30 mins to an hour before you plan to arrive, because Doo-Dah Diner is ALWAYS packed. I had the Brutus and I'd give it an 8/10. My friend had the crispy corned beef hash with a pancake and she enjoyed her food. Overall I'd give an 8/10 rating and I'd recommend Doo-Dah Diner.

Service was fantastic. Food was solid and didn't leave hungry. Am I ace was cool and separated so it was little more quiet.

Very very good!!! Happy we went there! Good luck with parking! It is tight and they do get busy. I think all the people of Wichita went there at the same time! Quite enjoyable!!!

I had been wanting to try this place for years. Stopped in for breakfast on Sunday. The place was packed and for good reason. I had the Triple D which is a choice of three of their favorites. I got The Benny, corned beef hash and biscuits in gravy. I judge the place by their gravy. If the gravy is good, it's a legit place. The biscuits and gravy were to die for. Biscuit was unique, spongy and soaked up the gravy-. The corned beef hash was also very good. The Benny was solid but normally not my thing anyway. The banana bread French toast was sooo good. And the complimentary monkey bread took me back to my childhood. Service is pleasant and efficient. Great place.

Joined the waitlist on Yelp and it worked perfectly! Don't miss this spot for breakfast/brunch... Derek was extremely hospitable and made great recommendations. Husband chose the chicken fried wagyu with eggs, and I got the corned beef hash with green sauce. substituted the Banana bread French toast instead of regular toast. The complimentary monkey bread set to the tone for our meal and I knew right away this was going to be a great experience. REAL food, made with REAL scratch ingredients. No mixes, and no shortcuts. I truly believe there wouldn't be a thing on the menu that isn't amazing! VERY clean, roomy seating and the local photography prints on the walls were icing on the cake. Ordered a turtle cinnamon roll, quart of green sauce and a family size shepherds pie to go!

Always busy. (In a good way) staple in Wichita great breakfast/brunch food, huge portions monkey bread is amazing. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Only negative is the parking situation. Highly recommended for out of towners traveling just for the spirit of downtown Wichita.

Cool retro diner. We stopped by for breakfast while on road trip through states. I really enjoyed their version of Egg Benedict ( Tanya's Benny) . I liked the homemade hollandaise sauce. We also tried banana bread . It was overly sweet for my taste but I'm sure some love it that way. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast. Good coffee. Our waitress ,Tina, was lovely . 4.5 stars rating

My boyfriend had the shocker, a large pancake on one half of the plate, large omelette on the other with sweet potatoes, ham, bacon, sausage, pork belly, covered by a sweet bechemel sauce. Delicious! I had crab cake Benedict with asparagus. Both num! And the service was incredibly fast and friendly. Our server was from Long Island and chatty but efficient. He sent us home with free monkey bread because they were closing soon (we also got a free sample before our meal) and to go coffee. Funky decor, plenty of parking, do not hesitate to try out the cool local restaurant!

The food is ALL made from scratch and it's made fresh to order! I had the triple D with a biscuit and gravy. My date had an omelet. Food was impeccable! The waiter brought us free monkey bread to go at the end of our meal. We left at 1:30 just before closing. The monkey bread tasted not fresh and was the only thing there that was a 2 out of 5 stars. However it was free after all so can't complain! Service was on point! Friendly and accurate! Not intrusive but made conversation. Overall would definitely come again and strongly recommend you give this local gem a try when you're in the area.

    Pork Belly Grits! Just amazing

We arrived and the place was busy. This is a very unique place and the decor reflects it. We were sat down by out hostess and our sever quickly got our drink order. I had coffee and she had water. Server was very nice and took our food order. I ordered the pork belly grits and my wife had the crab benedict. Food came out very quickly and it was amazing. The grits were creamy and the pork belly was tender and sweet. My wife's egg benedict was great, but a lot. I almost finished my plate. Staff checked on us several times. This place has a lot of different dishes and I would love the opportunity to come back. We both left full and content. I felt very good and ready for a great day. The Doo-Dah Diner put me in the mood for a Doo-Dah Day! I highly recommend.

My husband and I just went here for the first time. We went because I read somewhere that if you're going to be in , Wichita Kansas, it's one of the restaurants you really need to go to. We went around lunchtime, but both ate from their breakfast menu. My husband had Pancake Lasagna and he loved it. He said he would give it a five 5 and thought it was wonderful! He said, "It had savory and sweet pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, and gravy, along with a slice of sugar maple, brown sugar, pork belly. When the man was describing it, I was almost taken back from the description, but my husband decided he wanted to try and and he did. He loved it and left there VERY full! I couldn't decide what to get and so I got the triple breakfast which were half portions of three of their four favorites. I got their biscuits with sausage gravy, Corned-beef hash, and Banana Nut French bread. My favorite hands-down was their sausage gravy with biscuits. My dad used to fix that when I was growing up and I am picky about it! I told my husband that it tasted like my dad's homemade sausage gravy and I loved it, I'd clearly give it a five 5! My next favorite was the Banana Nut French Bread, but I couldn't eat all that and brought half of it home. My least favorite was their corned beef hash, I just wasn't crazy about it! I'm not really a peppers person and so it really wasn't very delightful to me. But the whole experience as a whole was definitely a five 5 and our waiter was really good! He made us laugh, filled us in on a couple of menu favorites, and worked hard to keep my husband's coffee cup filled. He even gave him a to go cup without him asking. Overall, it was a great experience and we would go again!

    Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs

Feels like a true Wichita staple! This laid-back spot is a great find, conveniently located not far from the airport--perfect for a first stop when you roll into town. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs, which were hearty, savory, and cooked just right. We also tried the Triple D, and while everything was solid, the standout for me was definitely the Banana Bread French Toast--absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. The Crispy Corned Beef Hash, on the other hand, was just okay--nothing special in my opinion. Overall, really glad we stopped in.

For starters, the food was spot on. I needed leftovers for an early morning trip the next day so I ordered more food than I could eat. Had the corned beef hash.. Super tender corned beef, tender crisp potatoes perfectly balanced with onions and peppers. Topped with eggs and green chili. Also had biscuits and gravy.. Just delicious! They bring a generous sample of monkey bread to your table like an Italian restaurant would bring bread. Nice touch. Here's the thing though.. Even if the food hadn't been amazing, which it was, I would go back just for Derek. Seriously! I've been in customer service for over 40 years and he is top notch. Friendly, gracious, intuitive, knowledgeable...I could go on, but you'll just need to experience him for yourself. I'd give more stars if it were possible. Bravo!

Ask the Community - Doo-Dah Diner

Do you have gluten free options?

We have become known in the celiac circles for our GF Banana Bread French Toast!

Is there a place nearby to park our 40 foot trailer and we could walk to the restaurant?

Yes, the restaurant is adjacent to a large parking lot.

Does anyone know if they put onions in their breakfast gravy? I'm allergic and it's my favorite thing to order at a breakfast place but some of the places in town have onions in their gravy

Abi, we do not put onions in our sausage gravy or our chicken gravy which is served on our chicken fried steak or chicken breakfast meal.

But the thing is, whether you're seeking out nostalgia for the days of old, or wanting to experience that small-town feel for the first time, once the novelty of the atmosphere wears off, you're left with a mediocre hole-in-the-wall that serves edible food. The dishes at Auntie C's are all classic American diner meals, and when I say "all," I mean just that. The menu at Auntie C's is expansive, and while this can seem like a great thing because it offers up a plethora of choices, it also means that nothing is exceptional. I question the true freshness of the ingredients here...the fruits and veggies all taste like they come from a can, and the sauces and gravy all taste like they're frozen and thawed. Everything is perfectly edible and most of it tastes "okay," but I can imagine the people raving about how delicious the food is think salt and pepper are the only spices that exist, because those are pretty much the only spices used here, and almost everything is under-seasoned. Breakfast is by far the best thing to order, and you can get it all day. But be wary of the biscuits, because they frequently are overcooked and dry, and I would avoid anything that's "hand-breaded" unless you want to eat 75% breading. The cream gravy has a good flavor, but they seem to struggle a bit with consistency. While usually being nice and thick, on occasion it has been runny and watered down...that generally happens when a restaurant tries to carry over food from several days ago. That said, the French Toast and Pancakes have never let us down, and things like bacon, eggs and hashbrowns are just hard to mess up. For lunch or dinner, I've never found a meal that I enjoyed much save for the Chicken and Noodles, which are very good. The hamburgers lack proper seasoning and are often overcooked and dry, which leads me to believe they're probably cooked on a broiler...fast and high heat, which would be the correct way to cook a high quality, high fat beef like wagyu, but for lower quality beef that they clearly are using, low and slow would allow the meat to tenderize and retain moisture, and develop a richer flavor. The Mexican options, though few, are honestly pretty gross, so I generally stick to the breakfast menu these days. The deserts, however, are fantastic, and they usually have cookies, fudge and other goodies for sale by the register that are made outside of the restaurant that the kids love. It might seem like I eat there a lot for someone who doesn't seem to like the food, and you'd be partially correct. My mom LOVES Auntie C's, and she loves beef liver, which Auntie C's serves, so we take her there every other week. But what my mom loves about the restaurant is the fact that she's been going there practically since it opened, I think in the early 2000's, and it reminds her of growing up in western KS...she openly admits that the food isn't great, and we probably won't go much when she passes. The atmosphere is kitschy but unique, and the story behind it is cool. Much of the decor has been donated over the years by patrons like my mom, and when you sit in the dining room you can usually hear someone who has spent the last decade or so sitting in the dining room every Sunday bantering with the staff. Aside from the decor, the dining room is a typical diner...too many tables shoved into too small of a space, where you feel like you're sitting on top of the strangers at the table next to you, and someone's rear is constantly in your face as they squeeze through. I can see how the staff can come across as rude at times, but in my experience this is generally when they are busy and they are just hurrying, trying to get their tables taken care of...if you aren't the type who feels the need to treat wait staff like your personal servant and bow to your existence, you shouldn't have an issue. Food generally arrives at the table in a timely manner, and I've never felt ignored or forgotten about. Prices at Auntie C's are very fair for the large portions you get, and though they have had to increase some due to food costs, they aren't gouging you. In fact, 2 people can easily share most of their breakfast dishes if you aren't trying to pack in a days' worth of calories into one meal. All told, the best thing Auntie C's offers is a unique dining experience that I do think is worth checking out, but under it they're serving cafeteria quality food and riding on the coattails of nostalgia. If it weren't for the atmosphere I'd give it fewer stars, because the food by itself doesn't earn 3.
