We loved the local feel..seeing the collegiate sport team highlighted.. Now for the food...I am ABSOLUTELY STEALING this menu item!! Pork Belly & Grits. I choose poached eggs (Our server even asked how "poached" I wanted the egg) love that touch When I ask our Server about their corned beef and hash. She replied "everything here is homemade". She saw the look of disappointment in my face as I really love homemade corn, beef hash. She then suggested why don't you go with this menu item where you could actually get two breakfast entrées split down into one cohesive plate. What a brilliant idea! I had been wanting to try this place for years. Stopped in for breakfast on Sunday. The place was packed and for good reason. I had the Triple D which is a choice of three of their favorites. I got The Benny, corned beef hash and biscuits in gravy. I judge the place by their gravy. If the gravy is good, it's a legit place. The biscuits and gravy were to die for. Biscuit was unique, spongy and soaked up the gravy-. The corned beef hash was also very good. The Benny was solid but normally not my thing anyway. The banana bread French toast was sooo good. My boyfriend had the shocker, a large pancake on one half of the plate, large omelette on the other with sweet potatoes, ham, bacon, sausage, pork belly, covered by a sweet bechemel sauce. Delicious! The food is ALL made from scratch and it's made fresh to order! I had the triple D with a biscuit and gravy. My date had an omelet. Food was impeccable! The waiter brought us free monkey bread to go at the end of our meal. We left at 1:30 just before closing. The monkey bread tasted not fresh and was the only thing there that was a 2 out of 5 stars. We arrived and the place was busy. This is a very unique place and the decor reflects it. We were sat down by out hostess and our sever quickly got our drink order. I had coffee and she had water. Server was very nice and took our food order. I ordered the pork belly grits and my wife had the crab benedict. Food came out very quickly and it was amazing. The grits were creamy and the pork belly was tender and sweet. My wife's egg benedict was great, but a lot. I almost finished my plate. Staff checked on us several times. My husband and I just went here for the first time. We went because I read somewhere that if you're going to be in , Wichita Kansas, it's one of the restaurants you really need to go to. We went around lunchtime, but both ate from their breakfast menu. My husband had Pancake Lasagna and he loved it. He said he would give it a five 5 and thought it was wonderful! He said, "It had savory and sweet pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, and gravy, along with a slice of sugar maple, brown sugar, pork belly. When the man was describing it, I was almost taken back from the description, but my husband decided he wanted to try and and he did. He loved it and left there VERY full! I couldn't decide what to get and so I got the triple breakfast which were half portions of three of their four favorites. I got their biscuits with sausage gravy, Corned-beef hash, and Banana Nut French bread. My favorite hands-down was their sausage gravy with biscuits. My dad used to fix that when I was growing up and I am picky about it! I told my husband that it tasted like my dad's homemade sausage gravy and I loved it, I'd clearly give it a five 5! My next favorite was the Banana Nut French Bread, but I couldn't eat all that and brought half of it home. My least favorite was their corned beef hash, I just wasn't crazy about it! I'm not really a peppers person and so it really wasn't very delightful to me. But the whole experience as a whole was definitely a five 5 and our waiter was really good! He made us laugh, filled us in on a couple of menu favorites, and worked hard to keep my husband's coffee cup filled. He even gave him a to go cup without him asking. First off I apologize for no photos, I was halfway through lunch before I realized I didn't take them. The parking lot is small and the spaces are narrow, but we were able to find parking at the end of the lot our SUV could fit. Walking in we were greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. I noticed their sign in the front said the soup of the day was corn chowder and our waitress said it was really good, so I ordered that on the side of my open face Reuben sandwich. After we ordered, I was pleasantly surprised by the complimentary monkey bread they brought us. It was warm, gooey, and so good. The Reuben was tasty, although I do think it could have been a tad saucier. The corn chowder was amazing, though. It had really good flavor. It was smooth, with the exception of some corn and potatoes, and you could see and taste the bacon in it. I would have ordered a gallon to go if I thought I could. For starters, the food was spot on. I needed leftovers for an early morning trip the next day so I ordered more food than I could eat. Had the corned beef hash.. Super tender corned beef, tender crisp potatoes perfectly balanced with onions and peppers. Topped with eggs and green chili. Also had biscuits and gravy.. Just delicious! They bring a generous sample of monkey bread to your table like an Italian restaurant would bring bread. Nice touch. Here's the thing though.. Even if the food hadn't been amazing, which it was, I would go back just for Derek. Seriously! I've been in customer service for over 40 years and he is top notch. Visiting from out of state, Doo-Dah diner was a short walk from our hotel that came with many high recommendations. It's a classic diner vibe with hearty breakfast and lunch/dinner choices. We had a variety of entrees for breakfast. The fried bologna sandwich was giant and something I've never had before. The bologna was cut THICK, and the bread it was on was clearly made fresh that day. It could have easily been enough for 2 people, but we took leftovers home with us! The biscuits and gravy were as authentic as they come. Fluffy biscuits, hearty sausage gravy...a perfect start to your day! I didn't get to try the weekly special of crab Benedict, but judging by the clean plate club winner at the end of our meal, it's safe to say it was delicious! What can I say everything about this place was amazing. I love the ambience of the old diner, food was amazing with the complementary monkey bread was a bonus. We got more food than we could possibly eat and the best biscuits and gravy I've ever eaten or right there at the top. We were just stopping through on our way home from Texas... I got the chicken fried chicken and eggs, and instead of bread, got a half order of the banana bread French toast. Every single thing was fabulous!
