It was a Saturday morning and it was just crowded enough that we didnt have to wait for a table. Got seated pretty quickly. Our server was very friendly and she took our order. Food came out in the expected time and it was hot and tasty. I had the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs. I subsitutied the hashbrowns for french fries. Livingston's Diner is a gem. It is a breakfast diner with an "old home" feeling. Livingston's has breakfast and lunch comfort food. The food is always good. The restaurant is always clean and the service is always nice. The food is consistently good. I generally just get breakfast. I think I've only gotten a salad there once and it was absolutely awesome. It was a chef salad. I'm always Leary about getting a steak from regular family restaurants cause the steaks are usually low quality, have lots of gristle and are tough and the chefs don't usually get the cook right on it. But I decided to take my chance and order their sirloin steak and eggs. The waitress asked how I wanted it cooked so I told her rare or med-rare but prefer rare. When she br8it to my table I seen a pool red "blood, hemoglobin, on top and red juices on the plate my taste buds and stomach did a flip for joy. The steak was just the right rare, the flavor and seasoning was spot on. Was very little gristle. It was almost melt in your mouth tender. We were in Wichita for an appointment and stopped in for lunch at Livingston's. What a treat! The four of us each ordered from the breakfast menu. The booth was roomy and it was not too loud for us to have good conversation. My omelet was delicious, and I brought half home. My husband thought the breakfast sandwich was exquisite and also brought half home. He enjoyed the second half with an onion roll replacing the sourdough. The service couldn't have been quicker and friendlier! Try the sour cream raisin pie. It will surprise you at just how delightful the taste combination is. We'll be back! read more

We have eaten at this restaurant a few years ago and we're in the neighborhood for breakfast so I we would go in and try it. Seating was immediate and service was fairly quick. The pancakes are undercooked. They put two pads of butter wrapped in foil on top of them and when you try to unwrap it, they were completely melted. Tried to get them out of the foil. We live in Tulsa, OK, but our 3 kids and 5 grandchildren, son & daughter-in-love live in Wichita, except our eldest grandson, who graduated from OU pre-med and decided not to continue with med school, but to stay in Norman in the house his parents bought. Last year he decided to move to OKC to be closer to work and his beautiful, very intelligent girlfriend who already taught a year of school, but her heart's desire is to be an infant nurse. She graduates in July in OUs one year RN program, if you already have your bachelor's degree. She has thrived. She has won several awards first semester and was hired at her dream job as a NICU nurse. Anyway, we go to Wichita about once a month, but we didn't find out about Livingston's Diner until about 4 or 5 years ago. We went there to pick up a couple of pies and I saw they had chicken & noodles as a Wednesday lunch special. Also, Wednesday is free pie day for Seniors. I love chicken and noodles and I love pie (especially coconut cream pie). The next time we came to town was both our birthdays and Mother's Day celebration. I talked Gordon into staying through Wednesday so we could try their chicken and noodles. They were definitely worth the wait. The coconut cream pie is absolutely delicious too. We've only been able to stay on Wednesday two additional times. One of those times I was exhausted from traveling and I didn't feel like going out. I won't do that again. My wonderful husband allowed them to talk him into their chicken & noodle soup, which was also delicious. However, I wanted chicken & noodles, not chicken noodles soup. Their food is so good that I can't imagine eating anything there that isn't absolutely delicious. It's comfort food though, so you probably ought to plan on having a protein shake for dinner. I came yesterday on a Sunday morning. Food was decent but the toast was burnt. The waitress seemed nice at first but act irritated because it got super busy. When we're ready to leave, our waitress only asked my friend if she needed a box when I'm clearly needing one too! It was uncomfortable because it just seemed like she's ignoring me. Great coffee and divine Coconut Pie were literally the cream on top! We used to love this place, however, the last time we went, we noticed a major change of employees, and not a good change. The food, which used to be excellent, was subpar at best. My omelette tasted funny, the hash browns were not done, the salsa was terrible, and my wife's chicken fried steak had facial hair in it. The server removed my wife's meal, and we saw the "chef" question our request, so the damage was done. We probably won't be back for a long time. read more

LIVINGSTON'S 21st and Webb Open til 2pm. The place is HUGE. Breakfast and Lunch menu and a ton of pies. I had the club with a side salad. The club took up my whole plate and did not skimp on the bacon . My hubby had the burger and fries, which he loved. We also tried the strawberry pie and the chocolate pie which I didn't take pictures of. The staff was so nice and they all helped each other out. I'm actually shocked at the scores. While our waitress was super friendly and the food was served incredibly fast, the rest of the experience was supremely disappointing. The sausage gravy (I couldn't identify actual sausage in the gravy) was not just bland, it just seemed of completely unseasoned flour w water. The biscuit was very boring, small, and lacked of flavor or anything special befitting a "local" diner. The breakfast burrito was just filling and regrettable. Completely lacking of flavor, the peppers & onions were barely cooked and the sausage inside made for a "chew it politely and don't spit it out" experience. When choosing a local restaurant I expect fresh ingredients and a menu & food experience befitting the local culture & home town residents, made & served with pride! I'd expect to find this food at a low rent senior hall. Finally, a nice long black hair under the hashbrowns to top it off. And, offering "free" pie at the end of breakfast is 80's kitsch at best but after a bad meal it's just offensive. Livingston's, please re-invent your diner experience.
