Our hallway entry was always so dark. I found Door Conversions in The Home Mag which is handed out at the annual January Cal Expo Home Show. I was a tad skeptical how a door conversion would add light to a room, but I was floored with the final product ... it's AWESOME! I met with Laura, one of the owners, who came to evaluate. We chose the metal screen since we have a dog, and even customized the metal wrought iron insert to match our patio wrought iron fence with a few wine leaves. You can choose a fabric mesh screen material but we preferred the added security of a metal mesh screen. Diego who installed the insert was so friendly and explained the install process. The metal screen is on the outside so we can open the tempered glass insert to allow for airflow, and our dog to bark at whoever walks by the house. It was SO worth the money. Gorgeous door, excellent craftsmanship and nice people. My only issue is that they advertise their product as security door, implying when glass is open it's safer than a regular door. It is NOT. If I open the window to allow breeze to come in, the screen material is just regular window screen fabric style material and can be easily cut and interior door handle opened to access inside of my home. This is certainly not secure, nor a security door. I love the look of the door, but I wanted a 'security door'. My neighbor had used prior owner and there door conversion was done in metal not fabric screen. This, unfortunately, was not disclosed nor offered as an option. When I questioned them, they said they never do metal. Hmnnn... Not too happy about this part . Just be aware if you're Looking for security door, it is not secure if you open glass to allow breeze to come in. The screen portion is actually just a window screen that can be easily cut or pushed in and removed. I only give a 3 star due to it's not a security screen door.
