Ed came out and gave me a quote that was close to 40% higher than my other bid. I Shared with him the Bid the other company had quoted. Ed returned with a quote right around the same as the other company. When I called to find out what type of door he was actually quoting me he never returned the call . I had decided to go with overhead garage door as they were the best bid and seemed the most professional. I received a message from Ed's office asking if there's any further questions. I decided to give them a call to see if they could answer my question on what door they were quoting. When the lady in the office was calling Ed across the room, she forgot to mute the phone and I heard Ed bad mouthing me, saying I was a time waster. Obviously, I didn't choose them, and I couldn't recommend them. The only time that was wasted is me trying to communicate with them and listening to Ed's long winded bullshit sales pitch. Ended up using overhead garage door a long time, Santa Barbara Company with an office downtown. Sorry, Ed, you shouldn't badmouth people, especially behind their back if you have something to say, say it to their face. I'm sure you'll write some long bullshit thing about how I wasted your time. tl;dr: You literally couldn't pay me to do business with Ed or Doors Are Us again. Run from them like your life depends on it. The biggest mistake of our entire rebuild was signing a contract with them. We were put in touch with Ed by our General Contractor as part of our rebuild after the Thomas Fire in Ventura. Ed talks a good game in person. He made it sound like he could get us the door we wanted within our budget and had a range of options for us to choose from. We showed him pictures in person and sent additional pictures to help him find the right door. We wanted the standard black metal garage door with glass inserts. After leaving, he eventually sent us a quote for the door at more than double our budget. We asked for the lower cost options he mentioned and he started backpedaling. After two months of non-productive back and forth with his barely legible emails, I asked our builder one last time: does this guy know what he's doing as it had been a rough road. He said yes so I signed. The delays in getting us a quote for something close to our budget meant we were left without a door for nearly two months. We put up a plywood door, but still had one of our windows stolen from our garage. There's nothing like having a brand new home and a plywood door to make it feel like home. Thanks for that. The installers made a mess of the garage which already had our stuff in it. They left construction debris and as a special bonus, spit sunflower seed shells in our entire garage and around much of the front of the house. Two of the guys were clearly just laborers hired for the day. The door we received is nothing like the photos we sent. It looks much more like a standard garage door with glass cutouts in it. When we brought it up to Ed, he said that everyone else he talked with loves it. That would be great if they were willing to pay for it. As the icing on the cake, a week after the install, he came by the house unannounced to bully me into giving him a check. Avoid Ed and this company like your life depends on it. Get model numbers and pictures if you're already locked in with them. Get everything in writing and pictures. Glad to be done with these guys. read more

Garage Door needed replacement and got a referral to Ed as well as a few others. Ed came out to do the quote and get the conversation started and went through different options to choose from. Quote came fast, and changes I requested were updated just as fast. Just like any good business owner Ed is gonna give you his input on what will look good and you will be happy with since I'm sure he's dealt with it all. Had it been left to me, I would have gotten a basic garage door I could live with, but Ed showed me different options to give me a better idea and we found one that was perfect. When I first called your wife couldn't find it under their names, but instead found it under my name. So it was in my name, the file WAS IN MY NAME when I had called. take your iphone and take a nice high quality picture and send it to me. Also, I didn't wait a year, as I detailed, I called you guys in the end of janurary, over a month away from the year warranty. Your guy inspected it on feburary 7, and said it was a defective unit, and had me send him the numbers on the plate. And what is this data plate on the motor? the only Date listed on the motor is 11/27/2012. That is the manufacture date. The manufacturer doesn't know when the product is installed. They wouldn't put a date on when the product was installed. the bottom line is, the product was put in my name, Sherry found it in my name. The product was installed march 2013. I called you in janurary 2014, and your guy stated that it was defective on feburary 7th. Asked for them to come look at receiver for remote on garage opener and told them what the brand was as well as the remotes worked. They put in a new receiver ($50) and two new remotes which they charged $116 (online $30 each) mind you I did not ask for new remotes. In putting the cover back on it was over tightened and broke the plastic so it cannot be put back on. Charged $140 to come out which they did not tell me before hand. Needless to say I ended up with a new receiver(x), two subpar remotes(worse than the originals), a broken cover and a $376 bill. read more

3 hours late!!! I had to call THEM to find out when they'd actually come. Stuff happens, but if they cared about customer service the would have kept me informed. They said they would be here at 8:30, then at 8:30 they called saying they would be an hour late. Then 2 hours later, I CALLED THEM to find out why no one had shown and was told they had a flat tire! Really?!? It takes professional repairmen 3 hours to change a tire? I smell BS. Then they leave for lunch within the 1st hour! UPDATE: To the person emailing me because my profile says I'm in Burbank, this was for fixing a garage at my family's house in Camarillo. Oxnard to Camarillo shouldn't be asking too much since they advertise they service that area. In response to the owner's comment; Why don't they change their policy to call the customer and inform them? Why are they going to be obnoxious and give windows of time instead of just having the person in the office give a quick call to the customer? I guess logic isn't on their side. As I customer, if they had just informed me I would have been much happier. Stuff goes wrong, I get it. I've had bad days, but I would never be 3 hours late to work without calling my boss to let him know what's going on when to realistically expect me. Ed was a nice guy Sherry was very nice on the phone they stated they were going to charge me $140 plus any additional parts. Ed came put together a loose wire on the eye sensor and reprogramed the garage door opener and remotes. No additional parts required. Final bill was $280 which is ridiculous I tried to bargain with him he didn't come down a penny, oh well lesson learned.... they just lost me as a customer.... enjoy. read more

The second time I needed a fix as my garage was getting too hot for my dogs and they installed Insulation and again they were prompt and did a great job at a fair price.
