They carry all the spices, usually in at least 2 sizes of every spice. The store is clean with a solid layout. The staff is always very friendly. THN is a small and cramped store with shelves everywhere stacked high with so many loose products. There are hand-written signs everywhere with some advising not to open the hundreds of tea leaves and ask for assistance, but when I did I was told it was ok unless "you go overboard." I certainly didn't because the prices are high and didn't want to accidentally dump a whole bucket of tea. There are coffees, nuts, teas, candies, oils, honeys, soup mixes and lots of other surprises to find as long as you can avoid knocking things over. Cash discounts here of 10% on Thursdays, 3% all other days. Staff were friendly and helpful. Penn Herb Company - Mixed Feelings, Honest Take…read more I was really looking forward to checking out Penn Herb Company, especially thinking it might offer more variety than what I've seen at Reading Terminal. And to be fair, they did have some cool options, a few new brands, and unique finds I hadn't come across before. Definitely a good spot if you're into wellness and herbal products it helped to take some time and read up on a few things. When we first walked in, the vibe seemed friendly and calm. My family and I (just the three of us) were really just browsing, not touching everything, and stayed together. But the energy shifted a bit. Only one older staff member acknowledged us--but she also seemed to be following us. We'd change aisles, and she'd change aisles too. At one point I asked, "Are you following us? If so, can you help me find the chlorophyll?" She did show us, but the experience rubbed me the wrong way. The price wasn't clearly marked as member-only, which I only realized later. Then, after she left, another staff member appeared in the same area--which made me feel profiled. Not a great feeling. At checkout, I gave my number to sign up for the membership, thinking I'd get the discount but I never received it, and no one explained why. Left feeling confused and a bit disappointed. This was just my personal experience, and maybe others have had better luck. But as someone who values both wellness and respectful service, this visit left me feeling a little let down.

Beware, there's a lot going on. There's bulk spices, bulk candy, bulk trail mix, a WIDE selection of bulk coffee. There are cookie decorating supplies, a plethora of hot sauces, regular sauces, dried fruits, nuts, and the list could continue on and on. Flours, spices, chips. There's a little coffee bar. They have a bathroom. The aisles are narrow, fitting two people down them would only happen in the event that one of those people was flat Stanley. Things I left the store with: 1 pound of wasabi cracker mix 2 pounds of coffee 1 bottle of Crystal brand steak sauce (never seen it before, had to try it) 1 jar of Better Than Bullion mushroom soup base and 1 pound of trail mix It's basically like a store to fill your pantry and I'm quite jealous that we don't have anything like it in the DC area.
