I waited til the night before I had family photos to go look for a haku, I know, I'm a procrastinator, but I really needed one to hide all this extra forehead I have. I went and checked out each stand at the airport, some of the women at the stands acted like they didn't want any customers with their attitudes (first couple stands when you enter. there were a few really nice ladies, who even if they didn't have what I was looking for, they pointed me in the right direction. Out of all the stands, Dora's was the one who was able to help me and had the best price. She charged $30 while another stand wanted $45. I tried looking on the internet for hakus that Would match my dress but it was hard finding one that had light blue plus the other colors on my dress. I didn't know how to explain what I wanted So I showed her what I was gonna wear, having my doubts that i could find anyone that would be able to make it match at last minute. but to my complete surprise when I picked up the next day I was just in awe. It was beyond my expectations. I felt like I was a goddess in an enchanted garden when I put that thing on lol. I'll def be coming here if I ever need one again in the future :) read more

We were going to the Mainland for a graduation and Mother's day. Needed 4 flower leis and 4 haku leis. Called Dora's on Tuesday, for pickup on Friday night on the way to the flight. The leis were ready and so pretty! We had brought a Costco cooler bag and 6 frozen gel ice packs (ice packs have to be frozen solid to get through TSA) and put the damp, wrapped leis in ziplock bags. When we got to the hotel Saturday, we put them into the tiny refrigerator. And when we took them out on Sunday, they looked wonderful and still fresh! read more

Went to the airport Lei stand yesterday for the first time. My friend called Dora's the previous day and she placed an order for me for a Maile Lei. My son was singing in the Kamehameha song contest. I was greeted by a cool Brudder at the front table. He was pleasant and friendly. Told him my name. He went inside and told a nice Aunty who then brought out my Lei. It was a Hilo Maile Lei. I didn't know there was different types of Maile Leaf. The Lei was fresh. The leaves were fragrant. It was done beautifully. I asked Aunty to suggest a really nice Lei for my son's girlfriend. She got me a really nice Lei. Sorry, I cannot remember what kind it was. It was a beautiful lei. This is my first time buying Lei from a professional place. We used to make our own Lei using Plumeria or Stephanotis flowers strung with twine. I usually go to WalMart and buy the cheap purple orchid Lei. Now my son is attending Kamehameha, I will step up my Lei game. No more backyard triple strand plumeria or 5 strand Stephanotis with Mock orange substitute for baby's breath or braided Nut grass Lei because we ran out of Ti leaf because my Aunty took all the leaves to make Laulau or Crack seed Lei from Arakawa's. I honestly felt the prices matched the quality of the lei. Costs were reasonable. I felt the Brudder and the Aunty really wanted to help me and I felt their Aloha. I went to every single lei stand at the airport looking for the perfect haku lei for my mom before checking in for my flight tonight since I missed Mother's Day. Dora's Lei Stand was the last one I went to because it was at the far end (#11). Everyone else was charging $35 for their haku leis and I got one from Dora for $20! I was so grateful. The haku lei is absolutely perfect!!! It's made of white orchids with little tiny red roses. That's not even the best part. Dora and her son definitely have that aloha spirit. They could only accept cash or check and I only had $3 in my wallet and didn't bring my checks with me because I had expected to pay with my card. I had told them I was attending my bro's graduation in Missouri this Friday and would be back Monday night. They told me not to worry about it and just pay them when I come back on Monday. So trusting! Of course I will definitely go back and pay them, but the whole principle of it. True aloha spirit! Such over the top excellent customer service compared to the other lei stands I visited. I ended up buying a kukui lei with tea leaves, cute little wooden turtles, and sea shells from Bessie's Lei Stand (#5 I think) for $20 with my card. read more
