Finally had the opportunity to visit Dorcich Family Vineyards earlier this month and we had so much fun! The event was on a Thursday for Ladies Night and the turnout was fantastic! It was great to see so many women-owned vendors, great live music, and even a Botox station! $15 for a generous glass of estate cab sauv, which we ended up getting a bottle after as well. The Dad's blend was not bad either, but definitely on the sweeter side. The service was welcoming and friendly, which I really appreciated. Plenty of outdoor seatings with benches and umbrellas. I believe there's a section specifically for "families", perhaps for those visiting with young children. Overall, I can see this being a fun stop for a day of wine tasting in the Gilroy area and I can't wait to bring my girlfriends here next time! Cheers! read more

We walked in around 3:20pm on a Saturday. They have live music here so it was a bit more people here. $25 for Mixed tasting flight (4 wines) and Ankora flight (5) wines. $30 for DFV flight (5 wines). Owned by Croation owners. The red wines here are leathery, earthy, damp. It's a unique taste that we are quite accustomed to. We are used to bodl and fruity wines. Sauvignon blanc was light but fruity. DFV Mourvedre was good but also light and fruity. Monte bello cab was bold and good. The pours here a more generous side. It was pretty busy and after a few times of us getting up to get in line to get our next pours, our male server got the point and tried to come right when we are finished with each wine. He was really nice though. 2 bathrooms stalls. They allow outside food here. read more

Great informative wine tasting at Dorcich with Colleen as our server, and lovely outdoor setting. 2019 DFV Cab Franc was full mouthed & herbaceous forward with slight vanilla finish - this wine has gotten better with age. I want to start this off by saying that everyone has their own taste in wine, and one persons preference may not be another's. The service was great! I visited without a reservation during peak wine tasting time on a Saturday afternoon and was immediately accommodated. The wine was brought out promptly, even though they were clearly understaffed for the number of guests they had. The picnic grounds were spacious and well shaded, a must on a hot Gilroy summer afternoon. Outside food is allowed, and I even saw pizza being delivered while I was there. I am unsure if you are able to reserve them or if they are first come first served, but there were plenty open while I was visiting. Unfortunately I was not a fan of any of the wines. It is very rare that I have disliked a wine enough to not finish the tasting and dump it, however out of the 5 wines I tasted, I did not finish 3 of them. Two were okay, but the rest were not my style at all. Chardonnay was fairly bland and the reds were all more leathery and kitchen spice flavor based. Because I tend to like wines that are more fruit forward or have a black pepper spice, none of them really appealed to me. But, as I said before, those are my preferences and although it was not my glass of wine, it may be someone else's! read more

This was my least favorite out of the 3 wineries we went to this past weekend. I wasn't crazy about 2 wines...one of them being a "Carbonic" something. This was very flat and did not even taste like wine. Luckily we brought snacks and were able to eat them here and sip of a couple of tastings which were alright. My wife and I rode our bikes to Dorcich yesterday. Unfortunately, the road was closed and power was out due to a drunk driver hitting a telephone pole! Nevertheless, Katie and Leslie were so welcoming and generous with their time. They let us "unofficially" sample the Syrah, which was excellent. The grounds were beautiful, and the tasting room was among the nicest I have ever seen. What a pleasant surprise to meet such very kind and generous wine hosts! We will be back for sure!! read more

A good place to gather with friends and enjoy some wine! The picnic table area makes it a great spot to even bring kids/babies. The one big issue with this place however is the bee problem. Yes they have bee traps, but they are full to the brim, and bees are constantly around you whether you have food or not. It's pretty bad, and sadly does impact my scoring of this beautiful place! Laura was our wine tasting host. Her customer service was above and beyond stellar! She accommodated us without a reservation, was knowledgeable about the wines and the history behind the Dorcich Family name, and very personable. She let us do side by side tastings of the same wine but two different years. We really enjoyed our tasting with Laura, it was like chatting with an old friend. A little bummed that they were all sold out of their whites and that they had just had their last live music concert. That just means we will have to come back when they release more and when their live music starts up again. :) read more

Their service is consistently good. The wines are all quality. Their rose is so nice and I am very sad when it sold out for the season. There new spritzers are not good at all. I recently visited this winery with some girlfriends....I used to be a wine club member here but cancelled because honestly I didn't think the customer service wasn't the best. I just never really felt a warm welcome there. There is a blonde lady that is always working there and she just isn't welcoming at all. It's so unfortunate because we like to buy a lot of wine. Today we visited the winery with out a reservation ... we were given a time limit (one hour) even though they were not at capacity. Yelp website shows walk ins welcome - it doesn't say that you need a reservation. Either way it wasn't an issue ... we bought a few bottles but would have gladly bought more if we were able to stay a little longer. They were nowhere near at capacity... too bad.. Staying at the RV park 1000 Trails we thought we'd go for a walk and visit this winery. We often visit wineries in this area and have been club members at Fortino Winery for many years. My eight year old loves their crackers. It was late in the day on Saturday, not closing time yet and I noted that my eight year old was not welcome, confirmed as soon as I opening the door of this winery. "He's not allowed in here" or something to that effect. Fine. I performed an abrupt turn around to inform my wife, Jr is not allowed in this winery. Only the second winery we've ever visited to not allow kids but whatever. We did note the winery close by also didn't allow kids. As we were starting our walk down their driveway back to Thousand Trails, a guy driving a pickup truck rolls by, rolls down his window and say's "so sue me" and drives off. Spineless yes. I had said nothing to the staff inside. What would provoke either the owner (doubt it) or an employee to say such a thing? Why the drive by? With that type of attitude I can heartily say, "stay far away". There are so many good wineries in the area, why stop here? I will try to contact whomever the owner is and discuss why his employees would treat their patrons this way. It seems the business is doing well by the look of that truck. Great to see that the new vinter (from Piertra Santra) brought his talent for making excellent wines to DFV. We like big, full bodied red wines and the "DFV" premium brand definitely delivers. His wines are now coming available (after 2 years) now and are top notch. My favorites for great well-balance and deep flavored reds: The Cab Franc (a classic wine for this area), the Syrah, and a "ZSM" (Zin, Syrah, Mourvedre) blend called Crveno that was knock your socks off tasty. The flagship Monte Bello Ccab is always awesome as it has been for years. Wanted to see if the "Dad's Blend" is still as good/better than I remember... but there are only so many wines you can sample in one sitting! The Malbec was okay (won some awards), but we are spoiled by the Martin Ranch Malbec. So happy to see this winery has far exceeded my expectations with the new winemaker, Alessio Carli. Better than the ols Jason Stevens wines IMO. Now it's Aver (GSMs), Martin Ranch, and now Dorchich for our Goto wineries in that area... Oh yeah, my wife really enjoyed the well spaced tables for the tastings and, in this COVID-19 period, servers were masked, gloved, and changed out the glasses for each wine! The renovations to the outdoor picnic area are great and we brought cheese, meats, and pasta for a nice picnic next to the creek - beautiful afternoon. Next time we'll bring the pooch as the grounds are dog-friendly too. You need to reserve a spot, but Collen, the head of their customer service was super nice and let us move our dates and tasting flight preferences (they ask you to sign up before tasting). P.S. One in our party had the "light" tasting and will check this out next time, e.g. a white wine blend of cab-sav & unoaked chardonnay looked super interesting/refreshing! read more

Last weekend we were entertaining out of state friends and decided to go to Dorcich where we are wine club members , we took a picnic lunch, but because we were tasting the Flights they put us at a small table for 4 where we hardly had any room to place our food and the flight of wines. Because of this space was very tight. I asked if we could sit at the picnic tables in the grove of trees where there would be more space. Those were reserved for people who would buy either a glass or a bottle of wine. I saw at the most 2 people at these tables. So, because we were wine tasting we were deprived of space. Where's the customer service in that? Needless to say we were disappointed. So if there is a next time maybe we won't be honest and say we are going to purchase a bottle or glass? And to top that off, we bought 4 bottles of wine! read more

Whoa! I didn't think wines of such quality exist - of all places - in Gilroy. Try their Petit Verdot and "Monte Bello" Cabernet Sauvignon. Fantastic. Just as good as what you'll find in Napa and Pasa Robles. I also like the fact that they serve more than the usual zin, merlot and cab. Their "Father's Day" blend is also very good. Tasting is $10 per flight, waived if you purchase 2 bottles. The wife and I had a nice picnic outside the Tasting Room. It was a cool spring day so we fortunately missed the Gilroy punishing summer. We drove over in the smoke filled air on Friday 11.16.18. We had been meaning to hit a few places in the Morgan Hill area. When we arrived about 1PM we were the only ones there. Michael would be our pourer (is that a title?). The grounds were clean and as per the season everywhere the leaves were well into browning. The there appears to be plenty of outside picnic/seating areas. The tasting room was very clean and spacious with some items to purchase but not so many as to seem tourist trap or cheesy. Michael was absolutely great. He spoke honestly about the wines, the area, the industry, and the winery. Now sometimes that can be a bad thing. But in his case he was professional and educated in what he was saying and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We ended up taking home three bottles of a Zin that had such a pleasant nose and rightly I would agree with Michael to be Zin "light". We are usually a one bottle purchase as the adventure and tasting new ones each week is more important to us than case buys. So three of the same is saying something to the quality in our case. Would definitely recommend. Michael also gave us advice on where to hit next and his recommendation did not disappoint. read more

We visited this winery earlier today on a last minute girl outing. We did not think about making a reservation beforehand, we didn't think twice about needing to since I live in gilroy and wanted to support a local business. Upon arrival, 1 minute after opening, we were greeted by the possible owner, or close friend of the business with a bit of attitude about the lack of appointment. She gave us the impression that she would "fit" us in because they weren't busy. She did give us a time limit, knowing that our friend had not arrived yet and we were the first group to arrive. We sat in the sun and didn't have the most comfortable time. We felt rushed. We enjoyed their wine, but as we left, we didn't feel like we could go back and support their business. We appreciate businesses being open to patrons during this time, but we are not certain we will return. read more

It's been some time since I've been to this location. I came before when it was Jason Stephens but now it is Dorcich. I'm was very happy to know the grapes they used with the prior vintner are the same and you could definitely taste it. Not a huge fan of Merlot but I am glad Colleen recommended it. This is a beautiful family-owned vineyard nestled in a lovely location. The different tasting menu options suit everyone's tastes.

Here's an idea guys. If you aren't going to allow children, how about being upfront about it so families don't head your direction money in hand only to be turned away. One little sign next to the door to the tasting room which you can't see from the parking lot doesn't count. Are you ashamed of your own rule? Make sure Yelp and Google indicate you aren't family friendly. Hiding the fact two or three clicks away on your website also doesn't cut it. I had to go back afterwards just to see if I could find it. Sure, it seems kids can hang out outside in the patio area. But 1) it was 100 degrees yesterday, and 2) a private event had the entire thing reserved anyway so the solution was moot. Maybe a sign on the road indicating the family area was closed? Bottom line, you're doing a poor job advertising your restrictions. Please try better. read more

I came here on Mother's Day with my daughter and her husband. There weren't many seats available but we sat next to some nice people that invited us and even offered us some of their food. We were waiting for a table to open up. Soon as I saw a table, I went over and asked the server named Tiffany if I could take this table and she shouted at me and said it needs to be cleaned! And that you have to wait! I told her I didn't mind and that I even offered to pick up some dishes and she got very upset and told me that I should know better not to put dishes on the other clean table! She basically treated me like I was a child! I was shocked with this kind of behavior especially since I myself work at a winery and would never talk like that to customers ! I was very polite and offered to help her pick up some of the dishes and she continued to be very nasty and rude, my daughter got very upset and intervened and Told her that she was very rude and that she was shocked that she even worked at a nice winery like that! We just were so stunned on her behavior and how she could treat customers in that manner! She continued to be very rude to us and ignored us, so I decided to go inside and pay our bill and leave, I will not be returning to that winery ever again! read more

The wines were good and the service was excellent. We spent over an hour at the winery and enjoyed every minute of it. Our pourer ( I believe her name was Maria ) was very friendly and knowlegeble. She recommended some wines that we absolutely loved. Their Montobello Cab is just great. We also loved their Merlot ( we don't usually care for Merlot at all ). We will definetly be back! read more

We moved to MH in late September and have been wowed by how many wonderful wineries are such a short drive from our house. We randomly decided to go wine tasting at another winery that we joined the wine club at, but they had closed early, so we just happened to drive by Dorcich that was still open for another hour. While yes, they do not allow children inside the tasting room (most places that serve alcohol and no food follow this rule), they have a great outdoor seating area that they said we were welcome to have our 2 year old son run around. The wines are A-MAZING! Loved all of them! The man pouring our wines was super friendly, and we got to meet one of the owners who let our son see and sit on all the tractors and farm equipment they use. We love that it's a family owned winery, and that they made us feel incredibly welcome- even with our toddler in tow. We ended up joining the wine club and are so excited to come back! read more
