Never finished alterations that I paid for up front. Bought wedding dress for daughter from Doreen Leaf Designs nine months earlier, paid in full. Understandable months-long process for dress to arrive; daughter then went in for fitting and alteration process. Paid up front and in full for the alterations. BUT, after picking up the "final" product, found that the alterations were NEVER DONE. Now, a series of attempts to get the shop to complete the paid-for alterations have failed. I called the day after I picked up the dress, and several times after that for more than a week. Today, the lady told me they will not make any attempt to correct incomplete work. Of course, since I paid in full up front three months earlier for the alterations, the credit card company can't help me out. AND Doreen Leaf Designs is closing its doors. They took my money and ran! read more

Service was great when trying on the dress. The dress came in a lot later than expected which is not uncommon right now but the problem was with alternations. The dresses came in very close to the wedding and they were unwilling to work with me to be able to get me fit in their schedule for an alteration. Keep in mind these dresses were placed on time and were supposed to be in two months before the wedding. They came in 3 weeks before the wedding and needed me to come in 3 different times to get the dress altered. One time to come fit the dress, another to meet with the tailor (an hour long appointment), and a third time to try on. They are also appointment only to pick up so they could not even get me an evening time (after work) to be able to pick up. I had to have someone else pick up the dress at a time that was convenient only for the store. Customer service is at a zero here. read more

A large group of us went this past Saturday with my best friend to begin the daunting process of selecting a wedding dress. There were at least 10 of us, a "Say Yes To The Dress" no-no! The girl that helped my friend out was great. She let all of us, annoying as it must have been, look at the dresses. Then once my friend had selected at least 8 (there was no maximum like other places), she began trying them on. I liked how every time Julie, my friend, tried one on that was a possibility, she always turned off the lights to show her how it would look during the reception. Then she had her do a walk out in the main showroom to show how the dress would move, etc. This girl really did a great job with all the peanuts in the gallery I must say. Plus she said they give you $100 off your veil if you buy a dress there, and 20% off bridesmaid dresses. I was expecting this place to be super expensive based on their reputation, but there were numerous options for budgets between $600 and $800. Definitely would come back for my own in the far distant future. read more

Doreen Leaf does a great job getting your business in the door, but one they've done that it's a disaster. I am 31 years old at the time of writing this review. I am a registered wedding officiant. I have been involved in over 2 dozen weddings and wedding parties(that's 24+ for those who aren't stellar at math) and this was my worst experience I've ever had renting tuxes and buying bridesmaids dresses. We were all measured back in December of 2015 for my brother's wedding that was on a Friday in June 2016. The rehearsal dinner was on a Thursday evening. They couldn't accommodate us to have tuxes delivered on a Wednesday and thought it was convenient to pick up tuxes an hour before the rehearsal dinner. Not only did they refuse to accommodate us, but the staff argued about what they could and couldn't do. I've worked in retail and specifically know people that work for other bridal shops. It is possible for you to get our tuxes ordered a week in advance in order to get them in for a customer that needs then on a Wednesday for a Friday wedding. Without charging us for a 2 week rental. And without then complaining to other members of our wedding party about how we were making a big deal about how bad your service was (and the employee had no idea that the person was part of our group.) They also did a terrible job making sure everything was the right size we had many issues with coats and vests. The quality of the stitching for things looked awful. You could see where things were stitched where you shouldn't see it. Customer service is key, and this shop needs to read The Energy Bus to lean about attitudes and hope you should treat people. read more

Well.. I went in this Sunday just expecting to do some looking (my wedding is a year away). Im not a typical bride and I wasn't looking for that steryotypical, poofy, bright white ball gown. I went in assuming id have to get something custom made or have to buy a dress and make drastic alterations. To my surprise they had a dress that caught my eye. It was one of a kind and so unique! My consultant was wonderful. I was a walk in and even though she had another appointment she still made me feel special. I only had to try on 2 dresses before finding the one! For a one of a kind gown, the price was an unbelievable steal! I only had to put half down plus tax and can make payments up until I need alterations. They made it seem my alterations would be simple (taking it in, hemming, adding cups and beading). Im excited to see the final product when I choose the beading I plan to add! Overall wonderful experience! Don't let one bad review keep you from stopping in. The staff is professional, courteous and have been nothing but accommodating. read more

Just want to give a huge thank you and "You saved the Day Award" to Dorean Leaf in Hartville for saving our family from a real mess. We went to pick up my husband's tux at a West Akron Mall tux shop. What a nightmare. It was not the tux we tried on and did not fit. Looked terrible. I was near tears. They could have cared less. No explanation as to why they had substituted the shiny tux for the one we had picked out. I was beside myself. When we got home, I called Dorean Leaf in town and spoke with Elizabeth who told us to come over and they would see what could be done. In 30 minutes they had him fitted and out the door with a tux that fits and isn't shiny. This kind of kindness and outstanding service should be recognized and I just wanted to give them a big thank you in public. read more

Doreen Leaf had really bad, condescending customer service. They made several mistakes; which wouldn't have been so bad, if Doreen Leaf had not waited till the last week before the wedding to let us do the final fittings. I found out two days before my sister's wedding that they had ordered the wrong pants for me, and had hemmed my son's jacket incorrectly (too long). It was so bad that we were scrambling the day of the wedding trying to get everything set right with them. Weddings are stressful enough without this sort of shenanigans. This wouldn't have been so bad; however, the management at Doreen Leaf treated us with the utmost contempt and derision; as if we were inconveniencing them by asking them to fix the mistakes they made with the tuxedos and dresses we had purchased/rented from them. They are truly awful. tl;dr: Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

BUYER BEWARE. I found my wedding dress at Doreen Leaf, and so my bridesmaids could get a discount, got their dresses thru them too. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF THE WEDDING PROCESS. My wedding dress came in without a hitch, but when I went in to talk about alterations, they wanted to charge me $500 for a basic hem, taking in the shoulders and bust a little, and adding a modesty panel. Strike one. My dress had no lace or embellishments, so was a pretty simple alteration. I took my business elsewhere where they did the same alterations for $163. When Doreen Leaf gave me my dress, it was more wrinkled than a plastic bag. Strike two. They waited to order the bridesmaids dresses till everyone had their measurements in so they would all come from the same dye lot. The dresses were ordered in plenty of time, but when they came in, it turned out they were DIFFERENT COLORS. Stike three. Doreen Leaf didn't catch it till half the dresses had been picked up. Strike four. They refused to appologize, claiming no fault, and said they would send them all back and try to get them in before my wedding date. They said they would give my girls "free alterations" for all the hastle. The dresses came in the two weeks before the wedding. My girls went in for alterations, and picked up the dresses just in time for the wedding. To our horor, when they got dressed ON THE WEDDING DAY, we discovered that Doreen Leaf didn't hem the dresses like they said they would, they just IRONED THE HEM UP. Strike five. Whenever the girls sat down, the hem would unroll, and by the time they were ready to walk down the isle, half the dresses hems were unfolded. DO NOT GIVE DOREEN LEAF YOUR BUSINESS. They are the worst vendor I have ever worked with. Not returning calls, not revealing all the policies, not owning up to their mistakes, and lying. I am discusted with this "company". Please don't make the same mistake I did!!! read more

I had been searching for the perfect bridal gown for weeks when I found out I had to travel to Ohio for work. I called and set up a Tuesday evening appointment, and had the undivided attention of my bridal consultant, Ashley, for over two hours. I really felt like she listened to what I said I wanted and was very helpful in choosing styles which flattered my figure. I was in the store by myself as I was traveling for work, but the rest of the staff still made it a special experience by offering input and helping me narrow my choices down. They have such a wonderful selection and great staff - I'd HIGHLY recommend a visit here if you are a bride in the area! read more

I went this weekend to look at wedding dresses. We called on Friday afternoon and asked for an appoitnment first thing Saturday, realizing that it was such short notice they might not be able to accomodate me. They did however fit me in and gave me no attitude about it. They seemed to be happy that I called and eager to assist me. My maid of honor and I showed up right as the store opened and met with our assigned consultant, Nichole. Nichole was very friendly and very easy to talk to. I explained my concerns, being a plus sized bride, and expecting some weight loss prior to the wedding. Nichole helped us pick out several styles, in sizes that actually fit - so I was actually able to try them on! I was very impressed with how many options that I had. I was able to try on at least 8 dresses! When I found a dress that I liked, Nichole went and picked out matching jewelry and head wear for me to put on so I would be able to get an idea of how it would look all dolled up. When I found the dress that I liked, I was informed that because it was the floor model and that if fit me perfectly, I could buy it that day and get a significant discount (heck yeah!). I had another appointment at another shop that I wanted to go to before making any commitments so I explained this to my consultant who was completely understanding. She sent me on my way and wished us well! We returned a few hours later and bought the dress. Nichole did such a great job making me feel like her #1 customer. I had a fear of wedding dress shopping because of my own body image but I left the store feeling good about myself and good about my purchase. read more

Rita was awesome at helping daughter find her favorite wedding dress so far. After awhile all the dresses were running together as they were similar in style, fit and flare. We asked her to pull dresses that were outside the box and she did. Will be returning to try on her favorite and any others Rita thinks could compete. Suspect we might have found the dress there. I went to Doreen Leaf for my bridal gown, my bridesmaid dresses, and my birdcage veil. I initially worked with a girl who longer works there. It's unfortunate that I can't remember her name because she was wonderful. She made me feel so comfortable, especially with all my bridemaids' requests. The only bad experience I had (which technically happened to one of my bridesmaids) was that the wrong dress style was ordered for her. Doreen Leaf was able to custom make a dress in the correct color to make amends, and didn't charge my bridesmaid at all. The worked very hard to make it right, and they did! read more

So first off if you are plus size don't waste your time here. My sister decided she wanted to get the bridesmaid dress the same place she got her wedding dress. So I was fine till I walked in that place and was made to felt like crap bc I was not a size 8-12 and I also have a large chest. So going on my sister picked a dress and my other sister ( who is also a plus size) went to try on the dress to see what we thought. Well neither of use could fit in the sample and was told to just order it bc that is what the bride pick and they don't have anyway of us being able to try the dress on. The person who was helping us was really Rude and inconsiderate of the fact we were about to pay $300 for a dress we had no clue if it would fit. Then we asked her to take our measurements and was told we have to order the dress before they would measure us. So going with what my sister the bride wanted we ordered the dresses which I had to pay more for bc of plus size. So it gets worse. NEVER get alterations done there. I could have done better. The Seamstress dose not listen to anything you say and rushes through. My dress was Hemmed, taken in on the sides and the straps brought up, then adding some fabric to the front to cover my chest some. My dress looks like high school home Economics class project. The straps are in even, my dress is still to long. The fabric added looks off and is not symmetrical. I just want to cry over this dress I ended up paying over $400 when everything was done and I now have to go to a professional seamstress to get my dress done correctly. Thought we would get better personal experience from a more boutique like place. Had rude customer service throughout the whole process. My bridesmaids called me numerous times telling me the person on the phone was rude and I had the same experience multiple times as well, as the bride calling to check in. My bridesmaids dresses were not completed by alterations until 5 days before my wedding, and one did not fit my one bridesmaid still, where we waited over two hours to re alter because of the time crunch we couldn't leave the dress and come back in . We addressed our concern about rudeness to managers... And I was told over the phone that we would , "just get over the miss communication." And there is nothing they could do at this point.As a bride, less than a week away from her special day... I would feel that you would try to be overly nice and accommodating. My mother tried talking to the alterations manager about her rudeness over the phone and she said at one point....I'm done with the convo and walked away. Over all very disappointed with my experience here, which is a shame because I love the dresses we chose for the bridesmaids. Just wish a bride could feel good about the whole bridal experience. This above was all before my wedding .... So imagine how I felt, that the girls got their dresses only days before my wedding to notice 15 minutes before I walked down the isle that one of my brides maids dresses read SAMPLE on the outside bottom of her dress. Yes SAMPLE, I am praying that this did not sure in photographs ( as I have yet to get them back) but we were shocked, by finding that my bridesmaid had a sample dress and that you could clearly read the word sample on the outside of her dress!! But as before, I'm sure management would not do anything as they kept telling us to just get over the first thing and move on and that their was nothing that could do. I had a great experience looking at wedding dresses here. I was keeping to a strict budget and the staff were very accommodating and helpful from booking the appointment through the dress selection. We worked with Jackie who was incredible. I came in with an idea in mind, couldn't fall in love with those dresses once on my body, and Jackie listened and pulled a couple dresses based on my feedback. She ended up picking the one I fell in love with. I appreciate not being pressured to extend my budget and I appreciate how thoughtful Jackie was with my feedback. I haven't gone back to formally purchase the dress yet for personal reasons but when the time comes I would look forward to giving them my business. read more

I was looking for a wedding dress and emailed one of the workers weeks ago asking if they had what I was looking for and they told me yes they did. So I traveled a little ways to looks with high hopes and then when I walked in the owner greeted me and asked what I was looking for and so I told her and she gave me a dirty look and pointed me where the dresses were and went into the back room. She did NOT offer to help me find a dress or recommend anything. She did not help fit me into a dress once in the fitting room and was rude to my mother. I felt very discouraged to be there. My sister is getting married this Saturday and we have had nothing but issues and problems with the bridesmaids dresses since we ordered them. The customer service was nothing but RUDE the entire time. One lady even walked out on my mother mid sentence telling her she was done with the conversation and headed to the back. I could never get a straight answer about when my dress would be ready, how much it would cost, or if they had even ordered it on time. Nikki, the seamstress, did a very bad job altering my dress. Day one of our experience with Doreen Leaf went well (our bride found a beautiful dress and bridesmaid dress options were great) and the positive review ends there. Our Matron of Honor needed her dress for another wedding 4 months before our bride's wedding and Doreen Leaf was well aware of this, but still didn't place the order for her dress until almost 3 months after we were all sized and down payments had been placed. The seamstress made it seem as though the 'rush' on the alterations once the bridesmaids dresses finally arrived was inconvenient, although her associate's late order was, in fact, the cause of the rush. Other bridesmaids were told that their plus size fee was to be disclosed upon pick-up, without any indication of how much that fee may be ($50? $100? Who knew?). 2 of these bridesmaids ended up taking their business elsewhere. And now we're back to the bride, who, as I've already said, found a gorgeous dress at Doreen Leaf. The seamstress, again with very little customer service attitude, made the bride cry throughout her entire first and second fittings because she had gained weight. The seamstress all but called my best friend fat as she shamed her into feeling guilty about creating more work for the seamstress, as she had to let out the bust about 1 inch. If the hassle of the bridesmaids dress fiasco wouldn't have been enough, this final straw made the damage done by Doreen Leaf irreparable. The wedding was beautiful, but absolutely no thanks to Doreen Leaf for anything! I urge you to find a different local shop to support. read more

My teenaged daughter wore a dress from Doreen Leaf this weekend in a wedding. The dress broke BEFORE the wedding even started. The clasp broke that held the dress together. Therefore the zipper would not stay up. Less than 10 minutes before the bridal party was to walk down isle, I am safety pinning the dress and trying to sow it enough so that it will stay up. For the amount of money that this dress cost, there is NO reason why the dress should have broke. Very disappointed!! Just called the shop to let them know what happened and I was told that "the hook & eyes break all the time and that this is a very common problem." I was told that the manufactures go for "esthetics and not functionality." Calling the shop only added to my frustration. They took no responsibility at all and pushed the blame onto the manufacturer! read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a bridal shop. First of all, if you are larger than a size 6, none of the bridesmaid dresses will fit you. They have the smallest selection I have ever seen as far as size and color goes. There's also hidden fees all over the place. The girls working at the store are snooty and unintelligent. The owner Kathy is very very nice and helpful, but that's as far as customer service goes, there. Honestly, go somewhere else. The worse experience ever. On our first visit after we ordered the dress we was rudely told we could not bring the dress back into the store if we did not get our alterations done there. When we picked the dresses up more than half were the wrong size. The mens tuxes were the wrong color/size and made us pay extra to fix them. So if you want your wedding ruined go here! read more

Doreen leaf was my first stop wedding dress shopping and I found my dress after trying on a couple of others in the store. I was in love with my dress!! I had heard nothing but awesome things about Doreen's and had even shopped there before for another wedding. We got the dress and had it stored for such a great price, I was a happy bride! My first fitting went well she made me feel so comfortable and that she would take great care of my dress and make it look beautiful. They had my dress for about a month and a half after I was told I would be called within a month. I finally called to check in with them, when I went back for my ((FINAL)) fitting the dress was a mess, nothing fit me (not sure what took so long) and at this point my wedding is a week away, as a bride I'm worried and upset and frustrated that I wasn't called sooner. I had to go back again to have the dress fixed. The alterations consultant insinuated that I had gained weight and that is why my dress did not fit (I had not gained any weight, they simply had not done the work they should have to begin with and she was angry when she was called out on it.) In the end she did get the dress right but the hassle was not worth it especially since we were paying half the price of the dress in alterations. We are paying customers and she only wanted to argue with us and then to insinuate a bride has gained weight really put us over the edge. I would say its a great place to find a dress but if you need alterations think twice. read more
