You go to @malcolmyardsmarket in Minneapolis (nestled close to Roseville just off of University and 280) This is such a different experience where you have so many options to order from with major ease. Check in and get a Market Card then walk around to find what sounds good. I've always thought this is the perfect place to go when you... -can't figure out what you want to eat -when you're meeting up with friends or coworkers -going on a first date -want adult food but also have a kiddo along. The Market has a beer wall, a full bar and multiple food vendors to order from. Over time new vendors take residence of the spots though there are some that have been around a long time. It's fun to get favorites and try new things. I'd suggest you go with the mindset to try different things and share with who you're with to find your favorites. They also have many areas to grab a seat and visit inside and outside. As well as special event space to rent. There is often activities at the Market so make sure to check them out if you're looking for more than a meal. This is a fun place with lots of food options and a great vibe! When you check in you'll get a card that works at all the vendors and at the beer/wine/seltzer bar and at the end of your visit you can check out or drop your card in one of the drop boxes and your credit card will get charged. The cards can hold up to 10 people if you want to split your bill. So many tasty food options that you'll want to go back multiple times. I love a good food hall! I've been to Malcolm Yards years ago and I see that they've had some turnover since I last visited. I met up with a group of my cousins right as it opened and it's nice because they have a big parking lot in the back and everyone can get what they want. I went to WSK, Bebe Zito & Boxcar bar for a drink. My cousins visited some of the other booths. The food was good overall. They do use a card system where you have to link a card to a market card and then when you leave you drop it in a box or you can close out. There's plenty of seating. They keep the tables clean! You get a Malcom yards card to scan at the bar or at the vendors to add to your tab. There's a pour your own beer wall or a bar to get beverages to accompany your food selections. There are many good food options to try and new food stands filter in occasionally to add new offerings. There is lots of seating but it gets really packed peak dining times or after gopher games. Despite a large parking lot it can also be difficult to find a spot when the food hall is busy. This just shows how popular this place is! The food was good, and the portion size was decent too--no complaints there. There were various food stalls, the ones that I ordered from were Momo Dosa, Bebe Zito and Martes Tacos. First time that I tried Bison Momos, the Tres Leches Snickerdoodle which was featured in food network and Animal Frossting ice cream scoops was delicious and the street corn all were unique foods from various food stalls. Super nice place with a terrific variety of food and drink options, with everything from burgers to deli sandwiches to pizza (excellent) to East Asian, Mexican and ice cream. It was busy when I arrived, but there were still plenty of seating options inside and out. Free parking was also a plus, and thankfully because the bill can add up quickly here. This was its only downside for me, how expensive it can become. I poured myself a 12oz sour and it was over $21. If you added a $30 pizza then you can see the slippery slope. Food was super tasty, though. I would have tried every place there if time allowed. The pour-it-yourself beer wall was nice with a variety of options (stouts, ipas, lagers, sours, etc), and they tell you the price per oz, so you generally know ahead of time what you'll pay. My first time visiting and was really surprised on how large it is. Lots of vendors and alcohol options with the bar and beer wall. Using the "Yard Card" is convenient but the tally surprisingly adds up quickly! We had food from Momo Dosa (Keema Dosa) and Wrecktangle (gluten free crust) Pizza. Food from both vendors took about 20 minutes and they text when order is ready. There was plenty of seating and the staff is really great about cleaning the tables between guests. My biggest issue is the parking situation. Not enough spots. So many cars were circling, and this was a Thursday at 5:30. I can't imagine what the traffic situation is like on a Friday evening or Saturday afternoon. read more

I love Malcolm Yards for a nice casual/quick lunch. So near my grandma's house, so nice to take her there. I love the huge selection of foods to get. You can take a huge group and all find stuff you like to eat. The food itself is always so high quality from all the places I've gotten. I did have 2 suggestions from last time I was there: 1. No coffee place? Seems like a major market miss. I was there at like 11am and though the bar did have simple drip coffee, it seemed like a place for fun coffee drinks would be a great addition :) 2. The doors going into the Yards from the handicapped spaces in the parking lot didn't have the buttons to press to open the doors. We parked in the non dirt parking lot (closer to University) in a handicapped place. There was another person in a wheelchair coming in at the same time as us from the parking lot, so that made me even more aware of the inaccessibility. We had to hold the door open for both my grandma and the person in the wheelchair. Obviously not a big deal to do, but if either of them had been alone they wouldn't have been able to get in. Big accessibility issue that seems like it would be an easy fix, so wanted to mention it :) read more

I hadn't been to this place in forever, mainly cause of the way their system for payment is set up. They've added a few places since I was last here so I thought I'd give them another go. If you haven't been, you give them a credit card at the door, they hand you one of their cards and then proceed to use that till you leave and it charges out later. This process just doesnt sit right with me. I do love that they have multiple great places to eat and plenty of drink options. Their own parking lot so dont have to pay for that. You can self "pour" (don't want to use the correct word ;) the amount you want from a choice of beers and cider. We managed to try a few local beers by just pouring a few ounces. The bison momos were delicious with the spicy sauce; very nice flavor (Indian dosa place). The Argentinian empanada (beef) was made very close to the ones we had in Argentina. Had a small event in the boxcar lounge space, our contact Laura, was great to work with, easy communication and very helpful throughout the entire booking process. This space is beautiful, industrially themed interior with Yard Cards that are used for food and drink purchase across their different vendors. Food options were plenty, Asian, Indian, amaerican, Italian, so many great options. Drinks were great as well with an option to self pour on their pour wall. We went on a Wednesday evening and man it was pretty busy but low wait times which is nice. Okay food - I had the Korean Short Ribs with hummus base - delicious! Basically a huge space that you walk into, put your credit card on one card that can be applied to all of the options inside, and you can order from a bunch of different vendors with all different types of food/drink/desserts, along with taps on the wall and bar in back. I happened upon this market after having a hard time navigating to another market option (construction in Minneapolis is a topic). I liked the option to start one tab by way of an issued plastic card that you could use at each vendor. The space has an industrial feel to it and had plenty of seating. There was trivia going on at the time so, I'm sure they host events from time to time. There was a full bar within and several worldly food options. I was also into the music they play over the speakers (Gen X/ Millennial vibes). I opted for the sushi/ ramen spot (Bagu) and got the poke bowl with tuna (tuna is an up charge to sub out the salmon). They went a little heavy on the seasoning and what I think was spicy Mayo on top. If that's not your thing, ask for it on the side as I wish I would've. When you first walk in you go to a check out stand and they give you a card that acts like a credit card to use at any food station or the tap wall. It had the feeling of a higher end food court with lots of different options. I had a difficult time deciding what to eat because I wanted to try everything! I ended up ordering from Martes Tacos and got the Pork Carnitas taco and the Chicken Roja taco. The tacos come as singular orders, but they pack them well with ingredients, making them quite filling! This place is such a gem! It's a modern food hall with a cool, laid-back atmosphere and tons of seating--everything from shared long tables to cozy individual spots. Perfect for groups or just grabbing something on your own. The process is super simple: you get a card at the entrance, load it with money, and then you can order from any of the restaurants inside (or all of them if you want to sample around--highly recommend!). It was so nice not having to pay at each place separately. They also have a great bar with beer, wine, and cocktails. Cool events are always happening. Like the sauna village out back, trivia, or comedy. You will need to come back again and again due to the temptation of all the sips and eats and your stomach having a capacity limit. Lot parking in the back can be tricky on busy days, but it is free. Just be patient or go on a weekday evening if you don't want to deal with it. In the summer there are cool bonfire spots outside to hang out too. The acoustic bounce used to be super bad in here but it def has improved. The food vendors are top notch. If you've never navigated this food hall experience know that you have to stop at the check in to assign your credit card to a plastic beep boop card that can be used at the vendors and self pour wall. Once you've used your beep boop card at a vendor when you order, they will take your phone number and text you when to come get your food. When you are done, drop that plastic card off where you originally checked in to get it in a clear box that indicates to drop cards here. read more

I love this place. Its the perfect spot to go with friends, it has everything you may be craving in one spot. Everyone can get what they need, and return back to the table to sit and enjoy together. They have indoor and outdoor seating, its really big and Ive always found a table. Theres free parking and plenty of it. They have mocktails and cocktails and a bar to get beer, etc. Prices have gone up a little but I am always happy with what I get and my experience here. This was an amazing place a repurposed trail yard into a mini food echo culture with amazing eats at every corner. They have ample free parking behind the business and lots and lots of options for food from Asian to burgers to Italian to Fusion things and everything in between. It's a little bit pricey because they have an added gratuity that's automatically tacked on which hopefully covers the fees which I believe it does of the servers and people that clean up for your dishes and keep the areas clean. Everything is general seating so you go get your food and then you're texted when you get your food is ready and then you sit at tables that you find which is a nice way to do it. Very family and group friendly and it's a nice central location if you're going to go out to watch a show in downtown or watch an athletic event at the university of Minnesota. My family and I came here (we are a very large group) and the biggest hits by far were the Korean style fried chicken, and the Martes nachos. Each food stall sends you a text when your food is ready for pick up. For some reason, I was receiving my texts about 5-10 minutes late this time. The inside and outside areas offer plenty of seating. Inside there are several food vendors to choose from and you can order from multiple. This time I got the chipotle sweet potato and roasted nabo sueco tacos from Martes. They were between $5-6 each, so not bad of a price. These tacos were so delicious, I didn't want them to end! I was so glad I went and tried these, but you can't go wrong with the other vendors either. The empanadas at Del Sur are amazing!
