Soon after our daughter's engagement, we found ourselves looking at a destination wedding in Florence, Italy. Working with Doris was truly such a pleasure. When I first met her, I had a completely different look on my flowers. Different colors, different theme, different everything. I met with her and realized my choice wasn't really "me" and what I was going for. I honestly thought she'd be upset (I felt bad that her team took the time to make such a gorgeous mock-up) but at the end of the day, it didn't feel right. After a few days, I showed her pictures of what I wanted...the most beautiful toffee color roses ever. I knew this was it (it was like finding that perfect wedding dress!) Doris was very honest with me from the start. She really wanted to make this happen for me but told me from the start that this specific rose color was VERY hard to find due to farm shortages during a global pandemic. I called to make a wedding floral consultation and the person who assisted me was so pushy saying that I need to pick out my bridesmaid dresses first before coming in. Seriously, the whole purpose of me going for the consultation is to see what price they will give me. It's not like I'm going to hire them right on the spot. I have a very busy schedule and even though my wedding is one year away I would also would like to check out other florists as well and get quotes. I tried explaining that I know what colors I want my bridesmaid to wear, and they didn't want to hear me out. Geesh, so I can only imagine how the consultation will go. They came highly recommended from the venue where I will be having my wedding and a friend of mines. The person I dealt with really annoyed me and left a sour taste in my mouth. I kinda balked at the cost based on the arrangement. 2 lilies. A few roses. A few Gerber daisies, LOTS of cheap filler. But I tend not to protest. Paid. As I was leaving, someone else checked out. Doris the Florist was recommended to us by Bridgeview Yacht Club, and they did NOT disappoint! We initially worked with Doris - she was amazing. We had a TON of different ideas for bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces.. we were all over the place.. and she said "Tell me every idea you have, I'll come up with something." We did just that, left the appointment, and just prayed that she'd nail it... she did!!! Her vision was exactly what we hoped for. We ended up going in a slightly different direction with our wedding and ended up having to change the vase, but that was simply a décor change we made. When we came back for our final appointment, Doris had an emergency and we were seen by Larissa; I was nervous because of how much confidence I had in working with Doris, but Larissa was equally amazing and was able to understand all of the small changes we decided to make (also to better fit the venue choices we made). We once again had to leave with nothing but faith that it would turn out okay, which was fine at this point because at that point we so much faith in their skills. When we arrived at the venue the day of our wedding, not really knowing what to expect, I wanted to cry when I saw how beautiful everything was: the flowers, even some of my slightly strange requests, were FLAWLESS. The centerpieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres were absolutely stunning, even the roses put on the chairs for our dads were lovely.
