Had seen a few arrangements by Flowers by Mike before and when needing a florist for a recent event I decided to place a call and see about coming in and discussing what was needed. After a brief call we visited the Oceanside location and sat with the owner and staff. The staff was patient and helpful. After reviewing a catalog of photos of various arrangements we decided on three separate pieces. Ordered 3 pieces in total. The 3 finished arrangements arrived and each was beautiful (and arrived as discussed). The flowers were fresh and the colors were vibrant. The selection and quality of flowers was excellent. We were very pleased with the result. While there and deciding what to order, which was not an easy decision and I appreciate the patience of the owner and staff, I asked to see a selection of flowers to get an idea of the quality of flowers on hand. I was shown a selection of various flowers. Now while all flowers may look beautiful, I've been around flowers before and I know and recognize the difference between a standard or average quality and excellent quality of flowers. I called and spoke to Nina on the phone. she was very nice and answered all of my questions. I specifically asked for a fall floral arrangement for a wake. I am extremely disappointed in the bouquet that was sent for my godfathers wake. I was unable to be there and was hoping to have a beautiful bouquet sent from my family. what arrived was something I could have gotten from Costco. and Costco would've been nicer. read more

Not a large flower shop but also not your typical assortments of flowers you usually see like roses and daisy's. Staff is busy working filling in orders from what I can see walking in. Feels like a warm environment inside. Just not to much else of other options besides flowers. Selection of cards is limited and would have liked to see more. When Nina answered the phone and she was so pleasant and professional; right then I decided I wanted to work with "Mike's". She was very helpful, patient and sincerely genuine in getting my wishes met. I wasn't sure at first as to my preference. But with her guidance and recommendations; she helped me narrow it down and also kept to my budget. And their pricing and value is bar none. I have ordered many, MANY times from Flowers by Mike and never have i been as disappointed as i am today (Feb 14th). I ordered my wife a beautiful bouquet of Flowers and what was delivered is NOTHING like what was advertised. If anything, it seems like its a MINI version of what was promised by their website advertised photo. i cannot tell you how disappointed i am. what was delivered in not worth what i paid. i have placed an inquiry with them and i hope to hear from them soon. i will update this review, if possible, once i hear back from them and see if this was an error. UPDATE: Day After (Feb 15th) So after contacting Flowers by Mike yesterday we spoke to David. He was pleasant to speak with and very professional. He listened to our problems as we explained to him our expectations and where we felt this all went wrong. He immediately apologized for the lack of quality and offered to send us a new Bouquet. it was Delivered and WOW, it was a beautiful arrangement and exactly what we needed to see. I am a frequent customer of the East Rockaway location and I've had many many occasions within the last year that Flowers by Mike has been apart of. Every single time the flowers were spectacular. The most important occasion for me was my grandmothers funeral. Rachel and Freddy went above and beyond to make sure she had the most spectacular spray. I will be forever grateful. Check your flowers before you leave if picking up! This is for the Atlantic Ave/East Rockaway location. Placed an order 2 weeks ahead for a pickup. Flowers are picked up after standing around for a few minutes with workers showing no interest as to why I'm there. I look around to see my pre order is on the floor amongst other pick up or delivery orders. (mind you, the door is open and this place wasnt exactly that cool inside so that those flowers are temp controlled to stay fresh) I pick up the arrangement with my name on it, and motion to someone so I can show my receipt and leave. Arrangement is average at best, and not worth the $80 I paid for it.....and the roses had a slight wilt to them/brown edges on them. A couple days later... the roses are on their way full wilt! I see this as a rushed job and lack of care for the arrangements or the customers who are going to receive them. I've been here a few times before, but looks like they're either under new management, or new owner. Won't be back. read more
