I must be honest. You cannot give estimates because honestly its a comouter and you never know whats wrong. The guy who had a working drive but died during cloning that makes sense if you know about computers because cloning puts a lot of stress on the drive. Secondly, computers are not cheap. 180 190 is cheap to fix a computer it really is. 300 to 400 even still is cheap. The guy Tim actually does a great job and did with my pc as im a super nerd. The guy managed to get my computer to boot back up and charged me about 300 400 bucks. That is a chunk of money but lets review. My pc was beastly and cost tons of money around 3 to 4k. The computer ended up dying anyways honestly no fault of his. If you bought a crap computer for 900, you should expect almost any work to to cost 400 to 700. If you buy a 9,000 computer, you can expect any work to cost around 400 to 700. This does not include parts. Parts are fkin expensive. Tech is not easy if you dont know and its massively time consuming. Anyone who was handed a small cost of 300 or less should bow to this even if the issue wasnt resolved. In essense it could take weeks to figure out wtf is going wrong with a computer. This cheap amount is close to the equivelnt of around 10 an hour if not a lot less. Computers are not easy and literally its not like "oh hey i open it up and instantly see whats going on!!" Software is also a different issue. There is billions of lines of codes, registries, software conflicts, knowing which correct drivers to install, figuring out i/os my god its immense. 10/10 id go here again because at least he can figure out what is wrong and isolate it which is far more than most can do for under 1500 bucks. Lets not forget you gotta have steady hands like a doctor. Computer repairmen are literally underpaid. Thats why there isnt too many stores. Thats also why when you by a pre built computer or laptop, you essentially wrecked yourself. But yeah dorks is amazing and all the negative comments sound like people who actually call customer service that dont wanna pay for repair or dont like the response even though the person they talked to bent backwards to help. read more

The most unprofessional I have ever met. Fist, I went to Dorks last week, and they were closed. A sign in the door said closed due to an emergency, cool, no worries. I went back this morning, 18 August 2020, at 9:30 am. The door was locked, but the man inside quickly come to the front and let me in. I was greeted by someone who is obviously off his meds. He gave a ton of excuses for why he could not help me. The phone rang, and he became aggressive with the caller. At this point, I stood up and said I would come back another time. The man then became irate and yelled obscenities while following me out the door into the parking to my car. He threatened to kill me, saying he was a Navy SEAL, saying I was un-American, and he would crush my skull, all while witnesses watched. These types of behavior are signs of a true un-American. This type of behavior is not acceptable here or anywhere else, especially when promoting a business. After doing a little research, it turns out this encounter was with the owner of Dorks! read more

I called the shop today with a question about the cost to replace a cracked touchscreen monitor on my laptop. I told the owner that HP would do it but I thought the cost was a bit high. He could beat the price some but since the laptop is under a year old he recommended that I wait at least a few months if I could (and yes the laptop functions correctly otherwise) when HP would release it's inventory of older replacement parts to a broader, and therefore, cheaper market. Unboxed my old gaming desktop after a few years of cobwebs and long story short had some issues requiring a new graphics card. While Tim had my computer for a few days, he not only found the issue and gave great recommendations on how to fix; he also deep cleaned the inside and optimized my OS.
