Dr Hong was my OB & delivered my 1st baby. She's very knowledgeable & kind. She's a very busy Dr, so you have to be patient. She loves to care fully for all her patients and makes sure she makes every delivery for the babies. I was so scared because I had to have a C-section but she made it comfortable & not so scary. I trust her & would love to go back if I ever have another pregnancy. The office is usually busy but they're kind and patient with everyone. Dr.Hong is exactly who you want as your OB. She is kind and compassionate, thorough, prompt, and efficient which is incredibly impressive for an OB office. Dr.Hong delivered both my son and daughter with a 5 year age gap and was available for every concern, worry, or random question I had. She took all of my Inquires, pains, and feelings very seriously and gave me peace of mind after every appointment. She never missed or had to reschedule an appointment, and was available the entire time for the delivery and follow up appointments in hospital for both of my children, I don't know how she does it! During my pregnancy, she was knowledgeable about every trend and wives tale i threw at her, and was able to help me focus on the most important aspects to create healthy babies and habits. Her knowledge and feedback/instruction during delivery and the time leading up gave me the confidence and ability to deliver with little to no complications safely and smoothly. Dr.Hong communicated perfectly with the hospital staff to ensure all measures were taken to keep/follow my birth plan while keeping babies safe. With my first, she was also wise enough to let me know, new moms tend to focus on the delivery, and it's really the time that follows that is the challenge. Communication - Staff is hit or miss. Some are really great, whereas some communication fell thru the cracks. Bedside Manner - Dr. Hong seemed really busy which is fine. Although whenever I asked questions, it was answered crassly and short. I can only assume the questions may have came off challenging rather than understanding. Either way, this shouldn't happen. Another factor in this low score is Dr. Hong called me at 6pm to inform me of my test results and next steps. I could barely ask any questions as she was rushing through the call. Cleanliness - Not as modern. Expect different methods and tools used. Personally, I would not recommend anyone to come here. I am a recently new patient with Dr. Hong, a first good sign is that her office is always busy! When you step into her office it looks a little dated, but come to realize that it is constantly busy with patients and her staff are working hard continuously! I went to get my Nexplanon Implant (birth control) removed & replaced in the same visit and she was very knowledgeable and fast! The office also ordered my implant within two weeks! Which was quick! This is my third time getting it and she was quicker than the doctors at Kaiser to remove it and replace it! She is very experienced and even though she works fast she is thorough! Terrible experience! Came in the room without knowledge of my medical records (while sharing the same premises as my pcp). No pedagogy at all when she came back exclaiming that I had "HUUUGE!" fibroid (first time hearing it, nice way to learn that). And then proceeded to the most uncomfortable, unprofessional examination, poking relentlessly my fibroid to demonstrate the pain it procures (in case I hadn't noticed yet). No warning about going in or whatever she was doing when doing it, no nurse present in the room, no material what soever aside from the bare minimum to perform one the most painful pap smear I ever had. Her explanation about what I should do for those fibroid were seriously the most abrupt and minimalist. This one star review is for the front staff office named Blanca. I made my appointment awhile ago for 11/14/22 at 4:15pm. I did not make any phone call to your office to reschedule my appointment, which your staff Blanca wrongly accused me of. Blanca said I personally called your office on 11/14/22 to reschedule my appointment and that conversation lasted 15 mins. My call log on 11/14 did not show I made any call. I do not have dementia so i am 1000% sure i did not make the call. I even took time off from work for this appointment. Blanca was wrongly accused me with something I did not do and did not own up to her mistake. I understand people make mistake and I would gladly accept an apology and reschedule at the office yesterday, however , Blanca's attitude and manner toward me yesterday was highly unacceptable. She put words in my mouth and shooed me out of the office without trying to solve the issue with a patient for even 1 split second.I am a patient and she made me it seems like im at fault and dont bother to solve it.I was speechless and shocked at the service I received at the office. I'm very disappointed in this establishment. I made an appointment over 1 1/2 months ago for their first available appointment in August. It is very difficult to find an available appointment to an OB/GYN these days. My insurance referred me to Dr. Hong. I called to make an appointment and at that time I specifically asked the front desk if they took my insurance for which they said yes. Unfortunately, I have a job with a little flexibility in getting weekday afternoons off and it took a lot of effort to adjust accordingly. It took Dr. Hongs office 1.5 months to figure out they don't take my insurance and cancel last minute. Now I have to find another OBGYN and wait another long waiting period to be seen as a new patient. When trying to explain this to their staff they continually talked over me and were very unapologetic. Very frustrating and unorganized establishment. read more

OFFICE: -The office is located in what seems like a relatively new building. (Some of the other suites were still empty.) It's not old and dingy like some other offices I've been in. -The lobby area is spacious with plenty of seats. -The exam room was nice and tidy. A curtain separates the exam room and the actual door of the exam room so that it provides extra privacy and prevents accidental walk ins. FRONT DESK: The lady that took my call for my initial appointment was helpful. On the day of my appointment, the lady that worked the front desk was friendly as well. One thing I noticed (and like!) about this office is that there is diversity (Asian, Hispanic, African-American employees and patients). To see such diversity all in one place is rather rare here in SGV. Definitely refreshing :) WAIT TIME: The wait time was about 20 minutes. Not too bad considering the fact that I had to fill out paperwork. When I was brought into the exam room I would say I only had to wait about 5-10min before I saw the doctor. DOCTOR: Dr Hong was very polite. She was very informative. When she was in the exam room with me, she did not seem like she was in a rush to get me out of there. She answered all my questions. I have no issue with the OBGYN Dr herself but the staff's professionalism is terrible. They cancel my appointment 5 hrs before on the same day and reschedule me 2 week out.I took time off work just to go see the DR since they don't open on weekends and they did not have the common sense/ decency to call me up and cancel/ reschedule with 24/48 hr notice. I'm not asking for much here, just let me know so that I can rearrange/change my PTO for the DR appointments. Time is $$, and they are wasting mine. I had an unexpected and unpleasant visiting experience while I was accompanied with my wife. It is understandable due to the COVID-19 that the space only permits a certain number of patients and visitors. My complain here is how to deal with the family member. I actually really liked this doctor. The two stars are for the billing experience. What I had an issue with is the billing associate, Annette, who wouldn't listen to anything I had to say to provide context for a billing error, proceeded to speak over me and tell me to let her finish instead of addressing my direct questions. After a certain point dealing with her, I had had it. I called back later to get an email address so I could ask my questions in writing. Words cannot express how awesome Dr. Hong and her team are! Her visits are quick, but to the point, so make sure you bring questions and forms with you, so you can ask/present them during your visit. I was pregnant with twins and she answered all my questions and completed all my forms in a timely manner. It's a lot to do w/trust too. Although we only had 5 doctor visits with her, she did a wonderful job delivering our twins and performing the C-Section surgery. I felt like we were family as she visited me everyday starting from Day 1 at the Hospital. The twins are in such wonderful care and she reassured and held my hand the entire way. She delivered the twins at the Arcadia Methodist Hospital. The initial visit usually takes longer than usual because of the many forms needed to fill out, but usually the wait is not too long (never more than 15 mins). Even for my case, as I needed an ultrasound at every visit for twins. Dr. Hong is soft spoken, and direct and she will give you her honest feedback from her professional experience. I strongly recommend her if you are considering or looking for an OBGYN. read more

Dr. Dorothy Hong is the best. I had no experience and no knowledge about how to deliver a baby. It's my first time pregnancy and high risk due to my age and gestational diabetes. Of course, I was nervous and worried a lot. Dr. Hong is very experienced and kind, listened all my concerns and gave me the best solution. I had vaginal delivery successfully and smooth. I arrived labor and delivery department at 3am. I delivered baby girl at 4:21am. Please listen to your Dr. Hong and followed all her advices. It's trust relationship. You may not have a choice due to insurance to come to Dr Hong...but if you do have that luxury, I would AVOID her at all costs. For such a sensitive and intimate specialty, Dr Hong lacks basic bedside manners, compassion and patience. It was my first visit and in the middle of my brief explanation of why I came to see her, she impatiently interrupted me by telling me what I needed to do and how to do it. Had she let me finish talking, she would have learned that I had already tried those options and was there to seek further medical information and advice. She pretty much rushed me out of the office with more questions than I came in with. She stated that she wasn't knowledgeable about the topic I was asking about and that she would need to do further research. I actually had no problem with that and appreciated her honesty...but to this day, I haven't heard a peep from her...and it's been a while. Even when she called to leave me a message on my test results, you could tell she wasn't sure who she had called and why because she was scrambling and stumbling over the information. Even in that message she could have provided me with the results of her "research" but... nothing. I get that she's very busy (I had to wait over an hour past my appointment time)...but I patiently waited, the least she could have done was given me the same courtesy and respect with her time and attention. Horrible...horrible experience. Even her nurse apologized for the short time the doctor spent with me. I highly recommend that you find another doctor if you can. read more

This review is long overdue. Had an appointment in November of last year at 3:30pm. Came here at about 3:35pm. Sign in and notice 3 other name right above mine had the same appointment time. Wth...how are you going to quadtripple book the appointment? It's 4pm and I was still sitting waiting and have not heard the nurse call my name. The prior month when I came here for my check up, waited about half an hour. Finally the nurse called me in. Got send to the room and waited again for at least another half an hour before Dr.Hong show up. Felt like she was rushing me out. I expected her to explained to me about my numerous blood tests that I took the last time. She only told me I had bacteria in my urine and wrote a prescription for it. Be warned that you might get bill for ultrasound service. The first time I came here to check if I'm pregnant. I was about 2weeks. Dr.Hong stick some kind of ultrasound stick up my Vijayjay to find the baby. A couple months later when I show up for my check up, the receptionist gave me a bill. The staffs in this clinic appears to take long lunch hour, 1.5 to 2 hour lunch. I came to the office around 12:30 and no one was in the office. I stood outside the door calling and the answer machine does not state they were out to lunch. I went home and called them and no one answer. I continue to call til 1:30ish and still no answer. Next day I tried to call and no answer. I thought the clinic was shut down or something. A couple of days later I called after 2pm and finally someone answer. Also, the Asian receptionist is rude. I could be standing in front of her for 5min and she does not acknowledge it. She seem to cater to chinese speaking patients only I have decided to switch ob/gyn. Currently, I go to Cedar Sinai. Very late review but I feel I have to be honest! When I was 6 weeks pregnant I started hemorrhaging, when she checked me in her (3 second) ultrasound she said she didn't see a baby or heartbeat, she immediately started scheduling a D&C so I begged her to please give it some time before we make such a permanent decision! She immediately said well you'll probably miscarry this weekend anyways! With no emotions until I broke down crying.. we waited till I was 9 weeks and there my baby was, with a strong heartbeat, Dr Hong said where was that baby in the last ultrasound then told me right after well if the baby stays "it won't be healthy".. thanks to Dr Hong I was depressed my whole pregnancy, she never wanted to run tests only the ones that are mandatory and trust me I was the one on top of her for them! I couldn't tell if I was treated this way because I am overweight, not Asian, was almost 35 or if this is her personality!? She treated other patients so sweet but me barely checked me, she even made the comment wow I can't believe you made it when I turned 39 weeks pregnant, well I had a beautiful HEALTHY baby, and I thought this nightmare was over but nope.. this was my fourth child and never once did I ever experience this horror, I don't know what she did but when they went to pull out my staples from the incision the hole she cut was still open, she panicked and called the nurse to assist her and started packing my wound with gauze and made the mistake of telling my mother and I that I was her fifth post operation that has this and that it must be from the heat outside!?? This made absolutely no sense to me because I've never had this issue! She also left me to take care of an open wound to myself! I am happy it is over and I NEVER leave a review but if I can say my truth I WILL! I only came to this office because the OBGYN before was DR Grady and he was amazing!!! He delivered all my three children before and I thought she would carry his legacy but I was 100% wrong. read more

Overdue review. If you are not pregnant, feel prepared to feel like a second-rate patient. I came in for a consult on an ovarian cyst and it was immediately dismissed. Dr. Hong rushed me through the appointment and when I came back for a pap smear, they called me back because apparently it wasn't done correctly. I didn't go back. I literally burst into tears in her office because I tried to explain that I was experiencing symptoms of endometriosis and wanted her to at least consult with me on that but she dismissed my worries and didn't elaborate. I was so frustrated that I didn't feel like I was being heard. As a young woman, I was looking for a compassionate doctor with a good bedside manner that was open to discussing other women's issues other than pregnancy. I did not find that here. By the way, be prepared to wait up to an hour+ even if you get to your appointment early or on time. read more

She was not that nice and didn't show care until it's closing to my delivery date. She was my OG about 2 years ago. She didn't tell me my blood test's result of seriously lacking of calcium until like 3 months later, which after I had to do root canal and suffered lots of pain from my teeth hurting. she informed me easily:" oh, by the way, I did 't notice your calcium level was really low, you need to take 2000ml calcium per day"... what, if she told me in time, I should not have to suffer so much pain. I was weak when I was pregnant, and worried about changing to another doctor that I didn't know, might even worse, so I stayed with her. Her front desk was not polite most of time neither. The only 2 stars I give here was her attitude turned better when the time is closing to my delivery date, I guess it might also because the delivery date is the real time for her to make the big money, she didn't want to lose. I love the Doctors here. Dr Hong was fantastic! She is caring and detailed. I don't feel rushed with her. I would return over and over and over again. Will I? No...why? Because of the office staff. I had huge problems with billing while I was Dr. Grady's patient. Huge miscommunication and confusion. I was charged so much and too much. I tried to get to the bottom of it and the person that was in charge of billing kept giving me different answers. So I decided to go to Dr. Hong next time to avoid the issues. Well, it is the same person who does her billing. UGH! I went in last February. Paid a co pay of $55 dollars. I have received two bills stating I owe $52. I called in and they say they have NO RECORD of my payment. Geez people! So I had to find the charge in my bank statement and sent it to them to prove I paid my copay. This is a sign...I need to move on. As much as I like the doctors here, I can't deal with the financial stress of this office. The first time I was having issues, I was late in my pregnancy. I cried multiple times because they were stressing me out and not giving me the same answer every time. I started taking notes when I spoke to them because they were changing their stories. So annoying and not a good prenatal experience. Sorry Dr. Hong and Dr. Grady. You both were great did an amazing job during my c section. I had complications and they kept me and my baby safe. This place is ridiculous. First of all they say they open at 8am and they don't even answer their phone at that time. What kind of business and most importantly medical practice is that! They make you wait two weeks for an appointment just to call you the night (6-7pm) before after all other offices are closed, from an "unknown" number (which who answers unknown numbers especially from a business) to tell you after receiving a referral to see that doctor that they are not "contracted" by them. Makes no sense! I'm pregnant over 8 weeks and have not been seen because they told me that Dr.Hong do not see patients after 8 weeks (really? What if something is wrong during that time) just to tell you the day before they can't see you. Please people do not be fooled by the "good ratings"on here.
