After checking in at the ticket booth and informing the attendant we were here for the Capybaras with babies encounter at 1:15pm, we started to explore Long Island Game Farm which is home to many exciting, exotic, and local species. We saw a tortoise, alpacas, llamas, miniature donkeys, deers, sheep, goats, cockatoo, camels, emus, and so much more. These animals have been rescued, rehabilitated, or re-homed. The capybara encounter includes general admission to Long Island Game Farm. I had booked the encounter online about a month ago for $100. The tickets sell out quickly. About 1:15pm, we headed to the capybara area and was greeted by the zoo owner's daughter. She gave us some instructions and opened the gate for us to meet the capybaras. We were able to feed them carrots and lettuce and pet them. There were 2 older capybaras and a few younger ones. I took many photos with them and they are so adorable. The capybaras were walking around or in the pool. The zoo owner's daughter was available to answer any of our questions and was very friendly. The encounter finished about 1:50pm. Long Island Game Farm is such a fun family friendly place and I would definitely be back to visit the animals. Included in admission, we got to be so close with the deers and goats. It is located in Manorville, NY and a bit of a far drive from Queens/Nassau, but definitely worth it.

Also the owner lied and said I never contacted the gym when I called for a month straight no response. I feel the response from the owner was nothing but victim blaming and slander instead of taking accountability. The gyms only concern is money and purposely ignores your request when you want to cancel to get an extra month or two out of you.

We moved at the end of the summer and she misses Gym Nest very much. She tried out for our new local gym's Xcel Bronze team. There's a clean bathroom toward the back of the lot, complete with a shower. So, after you get all nasty from kayaking in the sun for a couple hours, you can clean up and change into dry clothes. The staff was super. Very polite and helpful. From the dock, you pull past docked boats, and right out into the river. It's a gentle ride. Very little current. And it's a no wake zone for a decent distance. Perfect for beginners. The 2 routes they recommend are 1. Into the bird sanctuary, or 2. Past a bridge (route 105?), round an island, and come back. They recommended doing only one of the 2 due to time. But we were able to do both and come back with plenty of time left of our 2 hour trip. A great introduction to kayaking.

We arrived 1/2 hour late, and they were able to hold our equipment and it made no difference in our reservation... 4 hours began at the time that we stepped out of their office. They have a restroom for the public in the next building over, which was kept clean and stocked. A gentleman helped us into our kayaks and sent us off. The river is beautiful, though because it's quite wide, you need to share it with yachts and boats of various sizes. This creates some waves, and they can be a pain in the ass. In general, people on the water are cool with each other, but there are some (maybe it's a Long Island thing) who feel so superior in their big beautiful boats and treat you like a pipsqueak in their way. As I was all the way to the right side of the river, while returning to the dock, a boat came up behind me. I turned around, looked at the guy driving, and he made a hand motion to say "move over to the left." I thought I was blocking his way into his dock, but he passed me by and kept going straight! Like WTF? That has nothing to do with L.I. Canoe Kayak Rentals, I'm just commenting on the experience in general. To add to the experience, there are some really nice spots with exposed sand (when it's not high tide) that you can hang out along and explore nature. There's a bird sanctuary as well... which wasn't really that impressive, but that may have just been my timing. When we returned to the dock, we pulled in our kayaks and there was no one present to help us out. A couple of ladies pulled their kayaks in, and one needed help getting out, so we provided that help ourselves. I wasn't so impressed about that aspect of this business, though I realize it's probably a lot to ask for them to have someone standing on the dock all day to receive people who are returning. It wasn't a cheap trip, but I'd likely return. I will probably check out some other places first though.

It is the longest walk through the woods ( about 30 minutes) up and down hills and around a small body of water. . Only $25 bucks. It's all to benefit the kids at the camp.

There appeared to be people living out of a trailer nearby with trash piled all around it, constant fighting and screaming at each other, loud rap music at all hours, and people coming and going throughout the night. The woman was also constantly yelling at her dog, which was upsetting to hear. I honestly wish we could have gotten a spot farther away from them or visited on different days because it really took away from the peaceful camping atmosphere we were hoping for. That said, the campground itself was good enough that I would probably camp there again and just hope for better neighbors next time.
