Had a Southwest pork burrito and the smallest margarita ever. The burrito was decent, it had some (minimal) flavor and it was definitely juicy. The margarita was about average, but it was TINY! We stopped here for lunch on our way back to the Bay Area from Tahoe, and it was such a nice meal! It's not far from the freeway, which makes it an easy pit stop. My friends and I dropped by here for dinner after snowboarding in Tahoe. What really amazed about this place was the customer service. The cashiers were super friendly and food came out super-duper fast. Speedy Gonzalez/Roadrunner fast. It was almost like the staff members were able to predict your order even before you ordered because food came out pretty much the moment we sat down. I ordered the Southwestern Chicken Burrito with mild sauce inside. It comes with a free side of chips. It was a pretty hefty burrito, so I only ate half and saved the rest for another day. This order can definitely be shared between two girls. The flour tortilla was soft and the inside of the burrito was tasty, but what I didn't like is that the inside of the burrito was a bit soggy. Soggy burritos are a no-no in my book. If they can fix this sogginess issue, this place would be miles higher than Chipotle, but right now it's only a bit better in my opinion. Secondly, the mild sauce was not spicy at all. I was expecting a small kick to my bites, but there was nothing. Lastly, another great thing about this place is that it is vegetarian friendly. Honestly my favorite restaurant in Davis! I think I could eat the Santa Fe Nachos with grilled chicken every day of my life and never get tired of them! Especially if you add their green salsa! It's really sweet but tangy and is the perfect addition to any dish! The shrimp burrito is also killer! My boyfriend and I usually split one of those and one order of the nachos and we are set for life! If your looking for authentic Mexican food, I wouldn't say this is your place. Though it's not real Mexican food, it's a gem within the Davis/Sacramento community. Friendly staff and food is delicious. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food they give you. I took my mother here for our mother-daughter lunch date, and she loved the ambience of the restaurant, as if you're dining in the southwest (bring your own poncho!). The plates, cups, decor, everything about the restaurant ties in with the theme. The dishes consist of the usual tacos, burritos, and nachos. I ordered the Southwest carnitas burrito bowl and my mother ordered the chicken Border burrito. Usually, other places skimp on the guacamole and you can hardly taste it, but let me tell you, Dos slaps you a huge mound! Generous, indeed! The carnitas were moist and flavorful, which made it very enjoyable. I even mixed up my bowl and used my side chips to scoop up a morsel, like nachos! My only disappointment is the salsa. Mmmmm! My housemate told me that her favorite thing to get at Dos was their Adobe Salad with steak. She said it was huge! When I ordered it, it was HUMUNGO!! I couldn't believe how big this salad was! There was so much on it! Definitely enough to feed two hungry people! There was a variety of topping on a bed of mix greens such as, black beans, onions, jicama, tomatoes, corn, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and probably a few other things I forgot. On the bottom of the salad is a warm flour tortilla if you wanted to wrap it and eat it. This was so good! I would definitely recommend getting their salads!! I would definitely come back and try another one of their salads! SOOO GOOD!! This place is good for big groups. Lots of tables and seating. They have a variety of salsas that you can help yourself to. Easy for big groups because you order your food at the counter. Staff was really friendly! I've been coming here since elementary school, so I've tried most items on the menu. I personally love their chicken tacos or nachos. The tacos are pretty plain and simple, but they're really filling. I also love their salads. They're huge portions so I would suggest either splitting it into 2 meals, or sharing it with someone else. My boyfriend always orders the border burrito, but he orders it in a bowl with mixed greens. If you're on a low carb diet, I would suggest doing the same! Dos also has some awesome salsas. I love their pico de gallo. The chips aren't free, but most of their entrees come with them. If they dont, you are able to order some on the side! This place is not the place to go if you're looking for AUTHENTIC Mexican food, but it's delicious nonetheless. P.s. This used to be my favorite burrito place while in college. Still one of my favorites 20 years later. We came back to visit with our kids. Pro: 1)Love the grilled southwest chicken burrito--perfectly grilled and aromatic; I have not found a grilled chicken burrito as good anywhere in San Francisco or Penninsula. My seven year old said, "this is the best burrito ever!" 2) I really like the college student environment--servers and cashiers are college students. Cons: 1) Not sure the salsa recipe has changed from 20 years ago. I used to love the unlimited Pico de Gallo but now the recipe seems different and not as refreshing--a pinch of canned tomatoes flavor now? 2)We also tried the Caesar salad--usually our go-to salad given our kids love it--but was quite underwhelmed. I thought I was smart for ordering my food on the phone. When I arrived, they said they didn't have my order. I verified that my credit card was charged and called again. They couldn't find the order a second time and eventually realized it was waiting for me on a table. I realize they are doing their best job. We got there right when they opened. We ordered two salads and their new Cuban togo. We patiently waited for the order. When we were waiting, we noticed they had a huge catering order. We figured that's why it was taking so long because the wait was longer than usual. We saw the people after us leave, then the group after that with their togo order. We still waited patiently until a family of 5 got their meal before us. I walked up to the male who looked like a manager and asked for our order because it had been a while. He didn't acknowledge me and walked straight to the kitchen. At first I thought he didn't hear me but I think he had realized he had forgotten about the order. It would've been nice if he said something before power walking to the kitchen. He retrieved our order from the window which looked like it had been sitting there for a while. Sure enough, we went straight home (3min car ride) and the Cuban was cold. The portion was also pretty small and it the meat was DRY. Never again. The two salads were fine but the guacamole on the Adobe salad was brown. It was really disappointing because they've never been this bad. But, I'm paying the same price for entrees as a full- service restaurant, yet have to seat myself, fill my own Drinks, salsa, cutlery, napkins, etc and the food is fresh, but not seasoned well, nor tasty. There is no flavor. The rice is sweet, the beans are blah, the salsa doesn't get spicy, the sour.Cream is like mayo (quote from my 7-year-old). We've tried several times and several menu items and I can't support returning. Service has been very good. For Davis, I prefer Taqueria Guadalajara and Taqueria El Burrito. I am a huge fan of the food here and have been for years, however, recently the quality in management has declined. I believe they hired a new manager, he's rather large (I can't quite recall his name), but he really likes to talk and it honestly turns me off. I want to eat, not chat. If I see him through the window I go to the other location. Regardless the food and atmosphere here are both fairly nice and pretty consistent. This location is hit or miss. Once we got all iceberg lettuce--didn't even know they had that and I'm definitely not a fan. Once all our chicken dishes had a stewed chicken instead of grilled. Both times we weren't given a heads up. When you're used to a dish being served a certain way for 20+ years and it changes without any communication, it's unhappy making. We certainly won't stop going to this location, but I'd like them to know that their loyal customers would like better communication if/when they have to substitute. read more

I love the idea of the food that Dos serves. I love the idea of a burrito that I can have stuffed with my preference of fillings. But that's just an idea so often left unrealized. Tonight I asked for a burrito filled with chicken, black-beans and cheese, any greens are welcome too. I cannot eat rice, and most salsa has a spice in it that causes me to wheeze. When we arrived home and I opened my burrito I found it stuffed full of red peppers, rice and a small amount of chicken. Rice is something I can't digest and peppers? I just don't like 'em when they are HOT. I missed having cheese on my burrito. I just don't have any luck with Dos, they seem determined to feed me stuff I'm allergic to, but hey, maybe next time I'll have a true allergic reaction or anaphylactic shock and die, and Dos will not have to deal with me any more. Between the cost of the inedible Dos burritos and the cost of Epi-Pen's, my spouse will be bankrupt as well as missing a wife. This is not the first time Dos has done this, putting avocado on the allergic to avocado plate, and Pico de gallo on the burrito that cannot handle spice, sour cream when asked to hold it. No special orders will be honored here. I will have to stop craving their lovely grilled chicken and their crispy crunchy salads. read more

This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Although I prefer their original location in North Davis, their South Davis location is just as awesome. The best Tex-Mex I have ever had. This is easily one of the better places to eat in Davis. While I was in school, I came here at least once a week. Since graduating, whenever I visit, no trip to Davis is complete without eating here at least once. They use the best steak ever in their burritos. So clearly, a steak burrito is a good option if on your first visit. However, I love their paella burrito, which is what I normally order due to its combination of prawns, mahi mahi, and chicken sausage. If with friends, ordering their steak topped nachos is a wonderful selection. Their chicken caesar salad is decent "healthier" option. You really cannot go wrong here. I frequented this establishment way too often when I went to Davis. That's not a bad thing, mind you, just an observation. Given that I continue to retrieve food from Dos whenever I make it back to the area, they are clearly doing something right. Actually, many things... The employees have always been friendly and attentive and I can't recall any mistakes with my orders. Overall, the prices are quite reasonable given the sizable portions one typically receives (many of the items also include tasty chips & salsa!). If you're looking for a recommendation, one really can't go wrong with the south western chicken burrito. It's rather filling, but the burrito can be a tad messy if you're a neat freak when it comes to eating (like me). Just load up on a knife and fork and you'll be good to go. Yum! In regard to the previously mentioned salsa, you have the option of a couple different types at the bar. They're all pretty good and the staff is usually on the ball when it comes to replenishing the salsa bar as needed. The little plastic salsa containers are also fairly sturdy. As one who almost always orders food to go, knowing that my car is likely to remain safe from any unexpected salsa-related mishaps is a big plus (*glares at that one restaurant in Milpitas*) Seating has always been fine and the lines to order were usually a minor annoyance at worst. The restaurant shares a parking lot with Safeway and numerous other shops, so parking is unlikely to be much of an issue if you don't mind parking closer to the grocery stores during peak hours. I've already been here three times in the span of four days because their salads are amazing!! The workers are really friendly and don't mind refilling the bottomless chips multiple times. The portions are ginormous!!! An order can seriously last you three meals. Even the "lite" portion, which is what I usually get, lasts a pretty long time. If you order a normal sized salad, be prepared to work on a garden... the portion size is that huge... I loooove food that are in big portions AND taste great! Go for the adobe salad! It's bomb. I love how the chicken has the charcoaled taste to it and has a nice portion of guacamole! If you get chips, get the green mild salsa. It's so addicting. I also ordered the salmon salad for the first time. It was pretty good, but not as impressive as the adobe salad. They only give you two pieces of salmon, which isn't enough for me, heh. Love, it even though it's not authentic mexican food. 1) Paella Burrito: Got a chorizo in there, a piece of grilled mahi, and shrimp, packed with cheese and rice. 2) Mahi mahi burrito: 2 pieces of mahi mahi in this baby. The shrimp burritios are to DIE FOR; shrimp grilled to perfection, stuffed in a big flour tortilla, with cheeses, sauce, rice, and lots of other deelicious goodness...... and everytime the hubby and I cruise to Davis or have time on our way to Sacramento, we always have to stop and then talk about old college memories......well the ones can we remember anyways! My favorite shrimp burrito place!! I tried dos coyotes 6 years ago and i have not found a better place. This is the only place i will ever go to for a shrimp burrito! They also have really good salsa. Every time i've visited its always fresh!! I have yet to try the other burritos. Maybe when im feeling adventurous i'll try something else. But seriously, you NEEED to try the shrimp burrito!!!! The staff is super friendly and give great suggestions.
