I didn't get the lady's name at the register but I was watching her interaction with customers and she was very friendly and had a soothing tone of voice and kept calling people "my love" and to me she said "sweetie". I personally liked this because I felt very welcomed and taken care of. Onto food - I have ordered a super burrito in the past and cannot recall it much. It was a decent size but I think I still prefer the burritos over at north Guads. This time I ordered asada nachos and a tamarind JARRITOS which cost me about $21. I normally don't finish nachos but I think it was a combination of how good it was and how hungry I was that I left no crumbs. I liked the chunky tomato slices, could have used more cilantro, but the meat ratio was perfect. Would 100% get again. read more

As a Latina from LA it's been hard finding a good taco spot but so far the burritos here are the best I've tried in the Davis area, you get a good portion of meat and condiments in the burrito plus, they'll throw some tortillas chips and salsa on the side. read more

We stopped by to grab some tacos before visiting the beloved DMV on pole line a few block away. The service was friendly and our tacos were solid. overall everything was fine. the employees were nice and did great even though it was SO busy when we got there. I got carne asada fries and my only complaint is that it came with beans and they were cold. on the physical and online menu it never mentioned beans but i was hungry and i knew it would take a little bit longer to have it remade but my sister got the al pastor super burritos, she said the beans were also cold so they weren't that good but the burrito was fine. it seems a lot of mistakes were being made bc while we were there we literally saw 3-4 tables send their food back. the horchatas were bomb tho! read more

Delicious!!! This is my favorite place for Mexican food in Davis for sure. I've been coming here for years, ever since I started school at UCD, and everything is delicious here. The service here is the best; the owners are so kind, warm, welcoming, etc. Maybe I just have a soft spot for them because they call me "love" every time I stop by. So sweet!! The food here is amazing, there's love in every bite for sure. My go-to order is the carne asada fries with extra asada, and a large horchata to pair with it! Their horchata is my absolute favorite, I don't prefer mine with too much cinnamon so theirs hits the spot perfectly. They also have the BEST green salsa in town! So true, the customer service here is super sweet :) I ordered the chicken Taco salad to go, and before I made payment, the nice lady let me sample their fresh batch of horchata. I love the cinnamon flavor, and it wasn't overly sweet, so I caved in and got a drink to go. I appreciate that the cup was generous of horchata and not overly full of ice. This was by far the best chicken Taco salad I ever had. The shell is flaky and crunchy; it wasn't greasy at all. Layer upon layer, this salad was full of flavorful rice, perfect beans, tons of tender chicken, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, tasty guacamole, topped with cream, and shredded cheese. So delicious! It's a generous serving, easily two people can share this :) Great food, great horchata, great service, free parking out front... what's not to like? read more

Food is always delicious but pricey for Mexican. A family owned business where all customers are treated like family. They do get very busy around dinner time and don't always answer their phones, so be prepared to go in person to make your order. I discovered taqueria Davis by accident. I was on my way to another recently discovered Mexican restaurant, and when I arrived, they were closed for repair by PG&E. Still in the mood for Mexican food, I did a quick yelp search, and discovered that Taqueria Davis was fairly close. There is plenty of dining option tables to choose from, but we ended up getting food to go. Portions will not disappoint you. Prices are what you would expect in a larger restaurant, but certainly appropriate for what's offered. The one disappointment, is that they do not offer chips and salsa, unless you pay for them. Maybe it's me, but it's that one thing I always look forward to when I have Mexican food is good chips and salsa. My stuffed burrito was tasty, but nothing spectacular. I love the fact that they have options for beans, and they are all vegetarian. The grilled chicken in my burrito was a tad bit dry, and I wished that the rice was a little bit more flavorful. My burrito was ordered wet, and they were generous with the sauce and cheese, which really helped enhance the flavor. It's a family owned and operated business, and they definitely cater to the college crowd. They do offer discounts for UC Davis students, which makes this place super reasonably priced. This is definitely a place to go and hang out and enjoy a meal, but not a date night spot. There is ample parking that is free. read more

Delivery from them twice now, I think, and both times it was good. It wasn't the best Mexican food in the whole wide world, but it was definitely very good. Everything was fresh and tasty. I definitely enjoyed the enchiladas and the soft shell tacos, plus the super burrito was truly massive and lasted me for 2 1/2 meals. The prices are reasonable for how much you get, so I do recommend this place. The add a bit more, perhaps to the refried beans. They were pretty bland, but they were also fresh and tasted fine, especially mixed with the sauces that they provided with the order. I will definitely order from them again read more

Really good burritos and even better salsa for it! This is one of the few places where I love both their green and red salsa! My boyfriend used to come here all the time when he was in grad school, so he finally introduced it to me when we drove through Davis. My usual favorite meats are cabeza and lengua, and I was very happy to hear they had cabeza here! We both got the cabeza super burrito. The meat was really tender and really good. It is such a big burrito - definitely can be two meals but I finished the huge thing in one sitting since we didn't want to bring leftovers on our trip. I food coma-ed hard right after but man was it worth it. They also include chips with their burritos and their chips are really good! All in all, I really enjoyed this place and I look forward to coming again next time we're in town or driving by. Oh also, they have good service and are very friendly! Couple things to note: - They're open for indoor dining! This was actually my first indoor dining since pre-pandemic. It felt clean and there's only 4 tables currently in use, pretty spaced out. - They also have a restroom to use, shared with their neighbors in this small strip mall. A sweet mom and pop shop with some really good food! The service was great and the food delicious. My wife ordered a quesadilla and I ordered a large burrito. Both were delicious. I was very close to getting mine smothered and I think it would've been delicious but probably just a little bit heavy for me. Only drawback was there were a lot of flies but I think it's bc they just wanted to get in on the great food. Can't blame them but maybe some fly catchers or snatchers would go a long way. Hi Taqueria Davis Owners, I am writing this specifically for you so it can hopefully be helpful (and if you respond I am happy to give 5 stars or take the review down). I called to order catering for a party for 40-50 people. I was told it was either $14.5 for 2 tacos per person, and $17.50 for 3 tacos per person. I then asked how much the tacos were and was told $2.90. That means it would be $5.90 for 2 tacos and $8.70 for 3 tacos. She then told me it was because of the rice and beans, which means we'd be paying $10 PER PERSON for rice and beans and chips (the cheapest commodities you guys probably sell). I throw parties all the time, and I would seriously consider rethinking your catering pricing. Then the lady who answered the phone that she needed to help customers and didn't have time to talk. I was about to literally order $500+ worth of food, and had been talking to her for 3 minutes and 17 seconds at that point. I told her that was fine and she hung up on me. Long story short, I want Davis businesses to succeed, but this was a pretty awful experience for someone who has historically loved your Mexican food. Maybe have a manager handle catering calls and take a look at your catering pricing so it isn't so wildly different than your actual menu prices. People expect a discount when buying in bulk -- not price gauging. I could literally have a taco truck come to my house for less money than it would cost to cater tacos from you guys. Almost $20 per person for tacos is insane -- even in this economy... Hope this helps. read more

When my friend requested tacos, my first thought was this local Davis favorite that remained on my "to try" list for years. My first time did not disappoint! I ordered the chile relleno burrito, which came stuffed with beans, rice, guacamole, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, and the star of the show: cheesy chile goodness! The flour tortilla was really tasty. My friend liked her chicken soft tacos too. The chips were a little chewy by the time I got home, but that's understandable with a to-go order.
