Oh man worth a stop! Parking is a bit of a pain, and its a bit out of the way if just passing through, but worth it. We tried 6 different types of savory kolaches. Each was above average to great. the breading was soft and had a touch of sweetness. My favorite was the hatch sausage. The bacon and cheese with Jalapeno was good, but it was above average spicy. My least favorite was the pizza kolache it was good flavor, but very greasy. There is no inside seating, but there is a few tables outside on the sidewalk. Would highly recommend and return.

Easily one of the best places in Texas to grab some kolaches with their sausage, jalapeño, and cheese being my favorite. They're the only place nearby that I've found that uses quality sausage instead of hot dogs. I keep meaning to try their fruit and cream cheese kolaches as well, but every time I buy a dozen and bring them to work they're all gone before I get a chance. Their staff is always super friendly and I always feel welcome when I walk in. I have absolutely no complaints about any of their locations and I really recommend this place to anyone that gets a chance to stop by.

IYKYK! I've been a fan of Dos Gatos since my time at Texas State University *cough 14 years ago cough*. It had been several years since having a chance to return and I was happy to see/ taste that their kolache's were as yummy as I remembered. I tried a new kolache that I hadn't before- (pecan and cream cheese?) DELICIOUS! Pro tip- they sell day old kolaches, in an assorted bag, for half price!

Parking was ample as there is a side parking lot which it was full. Once inside the line wrapped around and there were many options. Ended up with a game and cheese kolache and coffee. They heated up the kolache before serving. As this was done before leaving the ordering area, it made sense why the line took a few to move. Service was friendly and great recommendations. I'd like to go back to try other kolchaes and they have a couple food trucks in the outside area if you wanted something more substantial.

It is a bit spicy...but I had to try it. Probably will not get that one again. The place is large and spacious (indoors and outdoors) and could be really great for groups. It has a large patio in the back that's used for Live music. They also have food trucks, one of which, is Paris BBQ. Therefore, you could listen to Live music have dinner or just have a adult beverage. They also feature comedy shows which is pretty cool. Their monthly calendar is posted on the wall. In addition, it is important to note they are on the pricier side. Sam, my server was super friendly and joyful. He steered me the ideal selections. Definitely will return in evening...

NOTES: - Reservations: no... walk in only - Parking: a few spots in front but free street parking nearby as well - Online ordering: available on their website through PopMenu for pickup - Closed Wednesday and Thursday THE HIGHS: - Arrived around 8:00 am on a Sunday morning and got seated right away - Coffee was decent... not the strongest but good enough - Workers were all very nice THE LOWS: - My poached eggs on the Country Benedict were cold... it seemed like they had sat for a while before being served (the sausage and gravy weren't hot either but they at least had a little warmth) - I wanted to get some items from the bakery but after being so disappointed in the breakfast I passed THE PRICE: Reasonably priced for the portion size - 2 Coffees ($3 each) - Country Benedict ($15.25) - Holstein Schnitzel ($18.75) - German Pancake ($6.75) - Opa's Smoked Sausage Link ($5) BEST BITES: - Opa's smoked sausage link (flavorful and juicy) THE VERDICT: This was my first visit to Old German Bakery & Restaurant after seeing it recommended online by so many people but I left wishing I had eaten breakfast somewhere else. Maybe the bakery is better than the breakfast but I won't be recommending it to anyone I know visiting Fredericksburg.

A warning: If you eat Weinerschnitzel in Vienna, you will be ruined for life on most of the…read moreversions you find elsewhere. But I was stupid, and hungry, and ordered what looked like the specialty of the house at Eve's Café. In fact, it looked like what they called a Wienerschnitzel was the basis for all sorts of schnitzel variations with different toppings and gravy. That should've been an extra warning for me. To be fair, the description on the menu said that what you would get was a pork chop, and that is what I got. It was a little bit tough, which I suspected in advance, watching the people at the next table, sewing on theirs. The breading was weird in a way that's hard to describe. It was somewhat over-seasoned, a little bit hard, and left an aftertaste that was slightly chemical. An even worse sin by Texas standards, it was small, as in the recommended meat portion size for healthy eating, about the size of my hand, minus the fingers. My side of onion rings had the same breading. And even though I am generally a gravy hog, I didn't especially care for the brown gravy that came with my meal. The German dill salad probably had some dill in it somewhere, but it was all drowned in so much mayonnaise-based dressing, I couldn't really taste it, and the whole thing turned into soup before I finished. This all really sounds terrible, but it wasn't actually terrible. I ate all of it except for the soupy salad, but it just never rose beyond competent, when I had gotten my hopes up for some good German food. As I looked around at what others were eating, I really wished I had ordered one of the fabulous-looking sandwiches, burgers, or bratwurst. Those are harder to mess up. The restaurant itself has a nice location on the Square in Lampasas, and a charming vibe. The Thursday lunch crowd was good sized so it looks like a popular local place. The service was very friendly and pretty quick--maybe little TOO quick, as if my schnitzel might've been waiting for me under a heat lamp. Once I'd finished, I was still a little hungry, and considered ordering a slice of their Black Forest Cake. But I have had Black Forest Cake in Bavaria, and I simply couldn't bear another disappointment.

So this place was recommended, so I had to go. The restaurant is a small establishment, with…read morewonderful vibes. The inside was old fashioned, kind of a western twist. Any ways the waiters was friendly and welcoming. She took our oder quickly and brought us libations. The food looked good and tasted outstanding! The meat was soft and the brown gravy was on point.
