Sausage and sauerkraut kolache. This one was really good... Add mustard

Great kolache spot in San Marcos, Texas! There are two locations... The other is by campus... The bread here is a little different from the kolaches I've had in Houston... It seems more like a type of dinner bun than a pastry... It's still delicious! Ordered an assortment of kolaches and had a cup of black coffee. Good stuff! The line was to the door and you couldn't see what was available until you reach the counter. I wish there was some store of signage or menu posted up which would probably make the like go a little quicker...

Oh man worth a stop! Parking is a bit of a pain, and its a bit out of the way if just passing through, but worth it. We tried 6 different types of savory kolaches. Each was above average to great. the breading was soft and had a touch of sweetness. My favorite was the hatch sausage. The bacon and cheese with Jalapeno was good, but it was above average spicy. My least favorite was the pizza kolache it was good flavor, but very greasy. There is no inside seating, but there is a few tables outside on the sidewalk. Would highly recommend and return.

Easily one of the best places in Texas to grab some kolaches with their sausage, jalapeño, and cheese being my favorite. They're the only place nearby that I've found that uses quality sausage instead of hot dogs. I keep meaning to try their fruit and cream cheese kolaches as well, but every time I buy a dozen and bring them to work they're all gone before I get a chance. Their staff is always super friendly and I always feel welcome when I walk in. I have absolutely no complaints about any of their locations and I really recommend this place to anyone that gets a chance to stop by.

IYKYK! I've been a fan of Dos Gatos since my time at Texas State University *cough 14 years ago cough*. It had been several years since having a chance to return and I was happy to see/ taste that their kolache's were as yummy as I remembered. I tried a new kolache that I hadn't before- (pecan and cream cheese?) DELICIOUS! Pro tip- they sell day old kolaches, in an assorted bag, for half price!

I did all three. I started out with a Franzbrötchen, a German style cinnamon roll, and a cortado. Both were a great start while waiting for one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had in a while. The sandwich I chose comes with bacon, beer cheese, fluffy eggs, and Russian dressing on a beautifully toasted Bavarian croissant. I also had to try a side of their duck fat potatoes, fried golden brown with smoked duck fat, whipped confit garlic butter, and fresh thyme. This was an excellent meal with great service, and I would highly recommend checking them out if you're ever in the area.

You can order from the counter or you can sit at a table and scan the QR code. I scanned the QR code from the bar and ordered my items. I waited an extremely long time for the coffee and danish to the point where I finally got up and asked somebody if they got my order. That's when they shared with me that their internet went down and they were finally getting all the tickets. They were all standing behind the bar, observing that nobody was getting food or drink and not working on making anything. At some point you'd think that they would've made an announcement or asked us if we ordered something. Taking initiative to let us know the service was down would have gone long way, instead we were all left wondering and waiting.

It is a bit spicy...but I had to try it. Probably will not get that one again. The place is large and spacious (indoors and outdoors) and could be really great for groups. It has a large patio in the back that's used for Live music. They also have food trucks, one of which, is Paris BBQ. Therefore, you could listen to Live music have dinner or just have a adult beverage. They also feature comedy shows which is pretty cool. Their monthly calendar is posted on the wall. In addition, it is important to note they are on the pricier side. Sam, my server was super friendly and joyful. He steered me the ideal selections. Definitely will return in evening...

A warning: If you eat Weinerschnitzel in Vienna, you will be ruined for life on most of the…read moreversions you find elsewhere. But I was stupid, and hungry, and ordered what looked like the specialty of the house at Eve's Café. In fact, it looked like what they called a Wienerschnitzel was the basis for all sorts of schnitzel variations with different toppings and gravy. That should've been an extra warning for me. To be fair, the description on the menu said that what you would get was a pork chop, and that is what I got. It was a little bit tough, which I suspected in advance, watching the people at the next table, sewing on theirs. The breading was weird in a way that's hard to describe. It was somewhat over-seasoned, a little bit hard, and left an aftertaste that was slightly chemical. An even worse sin by Texas standards, it was small, as in the recommended meat portion size for healthy eating, about the size of my hand, minus the fingers. My side of onion rings had the same breading. And even though I am generally a gravy hog, I didn't especially care for the brown gravy that came with my meal. The German dill salad probably had some dill in it somewhere, but it was all drowned in so much mayonnaise-based dressing, I couldn't really taste it, and the whole thing turned into soup before I finished. This all really sounds terrible, but it wasn't actually terrible. I ate all of it except for the soupy salad, but it just never rose beyond competent, when I had gotten my hopes up for some good German food. As I looked around at what others were eating, I really wished I had ordered one of the fabulous-looking sandwiches, burgers, or bratwurst. Those are harder to mess up. The restaurant itself has a nice location on the Square in Lampasas, and a charming vibe. The Thursday lunch crowd was good sized so it looks like a popular local place. The service was very friendly and pretty quick--maybe little TOO quick, as if my schnitzel might've been waiting for me under a heat lamp. Once I'd finished, I was still a little hungry, and considered ordering a slice of their Black Forest Cake. But I have had Black Forest Cake in Bavaria, and I simply couldn't bear another disappointment.
