I was here earlier today. It's not a humongous store, but it has all the basics. My partner and I enjoy coming here, especially to get milk when we run out (way cheaper than the food co-op's milk). The employees are also very nice to us. Will be back soon. =)

Came here for the first time based on word of mouth thru a friend. Had the carnitas tacos, cheese and jalapeno tamale with beans and rice. Great deal overall. Pretty good to ok tasting. Nice staff in the market. It's part of the grocery store, so we ate outside in the car. Worth the try.

I've lived only a block away for the past 5 yrs. why didn't I come in this place sooner??? Looks and location can be deceiving I know better than to judge a book by its cover but this cover looks kind of rough. Glad I ventured in because I found a gem in the rough. Great Mexican deli menu tamales, tacos, burritos, very authentic Mexican market place is always packed with people and extremely friendly. My new market I've been here 3 days in a row now and will keep coming back

We were in the area and I've been craving tacos! Walking in here made me feel like I was back in So. Cal. It is a small market but they had everything I wanted! Fresh meat, small produce section, cooked food, and your essential Mexican goods. We picked up some carne asada, ceviche, pico de gallo, chicharones, and a couple tamales. I am a happy camper! The workers here are very nice as well. Parking in the back! Only negative are the solicitors outside! Boy does Michigan have a lot of them. Update: we made the tacos and it was delicious! It was very flavorful. I didn't care too much for the tamales though.

I met a nephew for dinner, a monthly get-together, but arrived earlier so heading into Hua Xing for some browsing. The market is right next door to their restaurant. My eye caught a set of Bamboo Steamers, designer Chop Sticks & long wooden skewers. Asked if they handled any Dim Sum items and was directed to an entire wall of freezers that contained SIMPLY PUT EVERYTHING! We started loading my shopping cart with all these goodies! Now in retrospect I should have purchased the frozen items after dinner, but got over excited and dropped the credit card. 50 minutes later, post dinner, I drive home just in the nic of time while all were still frozen. Plan to test my steaming skill set tonight - hot chile oil, soy sauce & sweet chile toppings are ready on the kitchen island. BTW - their 'Ambiance' is PACKED with every possible item you would ever need if you were a Master Wok Chef. Ya gotta check this spot out in Ann Arbor

I also found out that you have to have a minimum of $10 otherwise you can't use credit card.

Plus dedicated aisles to dry goods like sauces and noodles, chips and crackers, sweets, beverages, etc. they also have a butcher counter (cannot speak to the quality of that but it looked good) and a produce section with both more traditional produce you can find in most stores in the US as well as some imported treats like pears and such. I also noticed some imported dairy aisle staples like milk (soy and otherwise), eggs (chicken and duck), and yogurt. Prices, especially for a store that mostly carries imported goods, seem pretty reasonable, though I honestly didn't end up purchasing anything (it's hot out and I wouldn't be home for a while). But now that I've been I can definitely see myself coming back again for a more dedicated shopping trip in the future.

As I perused the small but mighty aisles of the shop it became very clear to me that I know very little about African cuisine. And I'm so glad they've opened so close to me so I can visit and learn along the way. When I stepped inside I first noticed the freezer coolers to my right. They carried a variety of meats and seafood--whole fish, cut pieces, filets and more of grouper, goat, lamb, beef, poultry, snapper, crab and more. as well as frozen veggies like okra and . Not a ton of prepared foods but loads to help you make fresh meals at home. They also have a butcher counter in the back. I didn't interact with that a lot but while I was there I did see a customer get a large piece of some sort of beef cut sectioned off into smaller pieces. They also have a small selection of produce and a cooler of beverages in flavors like banana, tamarind, etc. The majority of their imported selection comes in the form of their shelves of dry goods which include a variety of grains, both in smaller portions and bulk. Rice, beans, corn flour, cassava flour, yam flour, Gari, and more fill one entire shelf. I made note of all of them and immediately looked them up when I got home to learn more. They also have pantry staples like peanut butter, spices like pepper, whole nutmeg, suya seasoning, bay leaves, mango seeds, kuka (baobab tree leaves), plus snacks like plantain chips, kola nuts, kuli kuli, etc. Big jugs of cooking oils and a fairly large selection of powdered milks, ovaltine, cream of wheat, and ground corn mixes. They also had several varieties of chalk, clay, and limestone which I was also not familiar with in an edible context but it's apparently popular amongst pregnant women for managing nausea and digestive issues. I learned so much just checking out their shelves! Of course, Africa is a huge continent with differences between the cuisines found in different countries and regions so I can't speak to if they specialize in one region more than another but it seems like they have, at the very least, many staples that can be found in homes from North to South, East to West. And if you're just learning about it all this is a great starting point.
