    Soft butter dosa

Dosa Spot inside Newport Mall is probably the only decent place in the mall when you're really hungry. They also bring their food truck to our community once a week, which is a nice bonus. The food is flavorful and satisfying -- their coconut chutney is our absolute favorite! I usually prefer soft dosas, and they make them exactly the way I like. The filter coffee is also really good. The food doesn't take long time to arrive which is a plus and ambience is quite decent. Overall, a solid spot to satisfy your cravings without being heavy on the pocket.

I'd recently had the opportunity to enjoyed a yummy meal at The Dosa Spot; it's a new addition in NewPort's Mall (Jersey City). Their menu was attractive and tempting with so many varieties of dosa. I'd ended up ordering their Onion Mysore Masala Dosa. It was a short wait before my Onion Mysore Masala Dosa arrived. And I'd devoured it with thankfulness immediately. Their Onion Mysore Masala Dosa totally hit the spot. It was a bit spicy, but manageable. The dosa texture was crispy on the outside and had a nice softness to it that'd allowed your fingers to slowly tear it into small portions. Their was crushed potato filling located about 1/2 inch inside of my crispy golden wrapped dosa. I was totally impressed with how flavorful the potato filling was. I'd appreciated the spices and deliciousness of the red onion. This was my first time trying a Onion Mysore Masala Dosa. And because I thoroughly enjoyed the fluffiness and deliciousness of the Onion Mysore Masala Dosa I'd neglected to try the two sauces they'd served. Hopeful my review motivates you to explore the Dosa Spot if/when in NewPort's Mall.

The food truck stopped by our building to cater to residents for a few hours during dinner time. We were pleasantly surprised: large portions of delicious food served hot, fresh and fast - and for a reasonable price (by today's standards).

A good Indian restaurant to visit inside of Newport Mall. For me it is fixed that every time I'll be going AMC, Dosa Spot is a mandatory stop for me. Pure vegetarian, decent seating, quick and good service. The menu has a lot to offer and they also make vegan food. I ordered Vada dipped in sambhar. The vada was crispy and sambhar was delicious. That became my instant favorite at the restaurant. Secondly, I ordered Onion-Tomato Uttapam. Well cooked and tasty. The only drawback I felt was sambhar is limited and if you've to get more you've to pay, which is uncommon at most of the places. They serve a second round of sambhar for free. So if you're going for Idli-Vada combo the sambhar is very limited. Lastly, I ordered filter coffee. They have two options 4oz and 8oz. The coffee comes with sugar. The place is clean and following all necessary Covid related norms. All the best to the Dosa Spot team. Keep up the good work.

Onion Rava Masala Dosa - we were told it has potato masala, cannot find it though

My friend ordered Onion Rava Masala Dosa for me and was told it has potato masala. Online menu also mentioned potato Indian Dosa order finally came without it. Food is very good just not sure if it should have potato masala or not.

I always pass by this spot in the mall, and had been meaning to try it. The recent cold weekend was the perfect time. I ordered an onion mysore masala dosa and shared it with my boyfriend. It was huge, flavorful, and filling. I am not sure the raw onion was worth an extra dollar though. In the middle of our meal, my boyfriend got a mango lassi, and the pricing wasn't listed, so we were surprised at the high price of $8. It tasted mostly like yogurt, and the mango flavor was very subtle. Despite the rather high price, the food was tasty and I'm glad I finally stopped by.

We ate at the dosa spot food truck today and food was just amazing. Very authentic and tasty South Indian food. Taste was closest to what we used to eat in Bangalore. The owner Raghu was very welcoming. We are from San Jose which has a plethora of South Indian restaurants and this was better than what we ate in Bay Area restaurants.

After an hour of waiting for our food, the three tables around us who arrived after us already got their food and were nearly done with their meal. We ask about this twice, and each time the owner says all three tables "pre-ordered" their food. I was confused and asked every table if this was true and obviously it was not. Before leaving, we confront the owner about the inconsistencies in his story, but he just double downs on his lie, alleging that we don't understand how a restaurant is run. For some reason, he even started to yell at the busgirl who was trying to get him to apologize? In addition to holding us hostage for an hour and continued lying, he tries to make the racist point that Indian food is more sophisticated and takes longer to prepare than other types of Asian food. I feel there are certain standards in the NYC service industry given the competition, and this was a confusing and unacceptable experience. The food was admittedly good, but not good enough for them to have the attitude they had.

They've passed that torch to their sister restaurant, Adda. Not only has their menu changed, but so has the staff. And it doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, but in this case, it was. We were recently served by someone who admitted himself that he's only been there for a week. No big deal. Except our first dish took 30 minutes to arrive. Meanwhile the folks to the left and right of us kept getting their food and they ordered after us. When we were done with our first and only dish, I asked our waiter where the rest of the food was, only to find out he didn't fire any of it because he was waiting for us to completely finish. The service was not good. And the food is not nearly as fun and delicious as it used to be. I don't know if I'll be coming back to Dhamaka anymore.

However, we never really got to it, having been busy exploring the Semmas and Bungalows of the city. On a cold Saturday evening my partner and I decided to give Indian Accent a shot - got rather last minute reservations over the phone. They were kind enough to accommodate us for a 7 pm slot, and once we got there we were seated immediately. We chose the four course menu, and found each course to be better than the one before! The shorba (soup) and garlic kulcha amuse bouche was a nice touch to get things started - loved the tiny terracotta mugs. Proceeded onto the shakarkandi chaat and the chilly pork roti - the former reminding me of the delectable street food in Delhi winters with the latter being a very good Indian rif on birria tacos. The star of the show for me was the Tofu medu vada - so unique and flavorful and melt in the mouth! I've not had anything quite like it before. My partner had the wagyu kebab that he said was excellent! For mains we had the chicken malai and the paneer - both tasty, but by this point we were already so full, and had to get most of the mains to go. But because there's always room for dessert, for our final course we scarfed down doda barfi with ice-cream and sticky toffee banana pudding - both of which were finger licking delish! Our service was great too - Ty our server was so nice and had the best recommendations. I'd have never gone for the tofu medu vada among all the other options and he urged me to, and it really turned out to be the highlight of my meal. The cocktails were good too. All in all, I think this is such a nice upscale Indian dining spot for a night out in the city. Having tried most of the other trending newer spots, i think Indian Accent sits right among the top! I'd highly recommend and cannot wait to be back!
