Billing department is a liability to livelihood of this business. They're under no obligation to verify coverage but you're obligated to pay. For me it was work the dentist recommended and wasn't teeth initially bothering me but agreed thinking insurance would cover. Work was split in two visits so they had time to verify coverage. Three thousand dollars later out of my pocket and crazy excuses from billing. Still love their assistant Andreea though but sadly lost trust in rest. read more

His normal dentist didn't have an after hours line and we were able to be seen at Dossett Dental on a Sat morning. We weren't crazy the staff and Dentist had never seen anything like it. Words cannot begin to describe how amazing this office is! I am a person who HATES the dentist and I only go when I feel like my teeth are going to fall out. I've lived in mckinney practically my entire life and I have gone to almost every dentist in the area. For the FIRST time, at 32 years old, I found my home and I would follow Dr. Barrett anywhere he goes! I went in with pain and he was quick to treat it so I was comfortable. He didn't overwhelm me with all the other things that were terribly wrong with my mouth. Not to mention he gave me OPTIONS!!!! Not just, "here's your issue here's what I'm doing", option so I could financially prepare and emotionally prepare and physically prepare for recovery. It truly feels like home and I never thought I'd say that about a dental office. He gave me his cell phone number so I could call if I needed anything, doctors do that but he truly meant it. We came up with a prioritized (lengthy) treatment plan after we discussed each tooth and ALL options per tooth (14). I never felt pressured by him ever and the one time I felt pressured by one of his staff, I reached out to him because I was confused as to what procedures I was Having the next day because she completely changed my plan and I'll just say, I haven't seen her since. I TRUST Dr. Barrett and I am so grateful to have found him and this office! Now let me get to the lovely ladies of this office. Andrea (dental assistant future hygienist) made me feel comfortable and I didn't feel ashamed for letting my teeth get as bad as it did. The best part is she would ask and talk to me as a person not about my teeth, unless needed of course, but she wanted to know about me. X-Rays flawless! No pain or discomfort. If it wasn't for her I probably would have walked out on my first visit out of fear. After my initial visit, I don't even have to ask for her to be the assistant during my procedures she just makes it happen. It doesn't get much better than Andrea. Love her! Amy-Dental work is expensive and hard to follow as far as whats happening to what tooth. She has the patience of a god. Always calls me back, emails me back, and if she isn't in the office will text me back on her personal cell at 11pm if I text asking her a question. She is also very knowledgeable about the dentistry aspect of it so if I can't afford something she prioritizes it and checks with the doctor to make sure she's doing it the right way instead of changing the plan or assuming. She truly has everyone's best interest at heart. Every time I come in they know me and greet me with so much love. They remember my kids names and what's going on in my personal life and truly care about you as a human being. You don't have a $ above your head. Perfect example we just got done with my fiancé's first visit and because of the issues he was having they spent 3 1/2 hours talking him through every tooth and all the different options to make sure that he was out of pain and we had a plan moving forward so he got the results he needed and wanted. NOT RECOMMENDED. I have called 15 times and received thier message saying I was calling outside their normal hours. I started dialing at 8:31am. On my 16th attempt to reach someone I left a message for them to call me back. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK!! Pathetic when businesses that open at set time do not do business. I guess that's why they charge so damn much for filling or a crown. It must really be nice to be rude to your customers AND charge very exorbitant fees. Facts: New Patient- For regular cleaning Schedule an appointment Jan 26 for an appointment on Saturday 2/2 9:00 AM Missed phone call on Friday, 2/1 Arrived at 8:45 AM to fill out the paperwork The admitted me at 9:09 AM. They took Xrays, doctor examine me asked me if the grey part of my tooth is bothering me. I told him no. He stated its more of a cosmetic thing. Dr then told me that I need a crown over the filling. I said ok. Next Hygienist states that I need deep cleaning. I say ok lets get it done. The billing person comes in tells me that they cannot verify my insurance, since it is the weekend. She tells me that I will have to pay regular price. I say ok if you refund me the portion of the cost that the insurance company is suppose to pay after you verify my insurance. She tells me that she cannot refund me the money and if I need the service I am to pay the regular price. The main issue is you had from Jan 26 till Jan 31 to tell me that you need to verify my insurance. You could even call me before I came in and told me that you need to verify my insurance, so I do not get my hopes up high and also I do not waste 1 hour 15 minutes of my day off. I only get 2 days a week to be off. Calling my old dentist and setting appointment with them. I only left because I live in McKinney and I like to spend my money supporting the businesses in my community. read more

I have always had a good experience with Dossett dental in the past but I saw a new dentist on 7/15/21. The doctor was not very friendly and I have a crown that broke with part of the tooth still there. I was told to take an antibiotic and it was very important so the infection didn't spread and I could have breathing problems if I went too long. I went to the pharmacy today, the next day and there is no antibiotics called in. The young lady at the reception desk has been quite polite and helpful but I still do not have an antibiotic called in. I am irritated and it's very irresponsible on the doctors behalf. read more

Had an appointment and was in the waiting room for an hour with no updates or reason why they were so behind. When I finally saw the hygienist and commented that I would have appreciated a quick phone call prior to my appointment stating they were running behind and to not show up on time, she was dismissive and incredibly rude. The best thing I can say is that the staff was so sweet and competent. High pressure sales, and a bad bedside manner from the dentist himself. No specific information or communication was given to me about what work needed to be done, just a printed out quote for $9,000.00 - after insurance. That even aside - Dr. Johnson has an arrogance about him that translates to feeling as though he doesn't really want to be there, and that the patients are wasting his time. Broke a rookie while on a business trip and leaving again the following Monday. Called at 8:30 on Saturday and got in at 9:15. Needed an extraction and an implant. They also did a deep cleaning. My husband had 4 visits between July and Nov. Two fillings, root canal and crown, re glue a crown and r-rays and estimate. Each visit he paid what they said was his portion. We have Delta Dental Ins. After I received statements from Ins. the difference from what was billed and what they paid and what we paid was $814.00. They also had the nerve to bill me $203.00 after my husband paid each visit. I had to go back and show them two different times to get my refund. The bookkeeper could not figure out where they got there numbers they just pull prices out of there ---. Got my $814 back and will never go back. These people are thieves, down right theft. When they read this I hope they want to take me to court. read more

They did the work in a timely manner and even opened up on a Saturday to finish my crowns. There were a couple areas that needed to be addressed , which they promptly fixed. Do not go to Dosset Dental in McKinney. This dentist is incompetent unprofessional and deadly. He pulled an abscessed tooth of mine without prior antibiotics. Did not answer 4 of my after hours voicemails for help and advice. I ended up becoming septic throughout my whole body I spent a week in hospital extremely sick I was infected from my stomach through my intestines: and then some. Doctors told me if I hadn't come to the hospital when I did it would have spread to my heart. The old man here has horrible bed side manners. He laid me back in chair so far that I could hear is stomach rumbling. You maybe laughing at this moment but it was far from funny at the time. My crown temporary came off 4 times. He never would tell me what he was doing before a injection. The equipment broke all times I went. This is the worst place you can go. Avoid at all costs. They were not up front on their charges and treatment plans. Lied to me and my wife about what they were doing on the visit. Making payments on my account and still reported me to collections (which I never have been before)-when called about it they told me it was a mistake and should have never been reported to collections. Went through three different managers who said they would correct the mistake- guess what 8 months later still in collections even though I have paid off the account. Extremely inexperienced. When I booked a cleaning appointment for my fiance, they took all the necessary information and made us the appointment. During the visit, we explicitly asked how much would it be to cover the visit and they followed up with our insurance and confirmed that it would only be copay that we'd be responsible for. The visit lasted an hr and definitely the doctor did a great job. However, we weren't told the procedure was deep cleaning. Nonetheless, 3 weeks later we get a bill from Dossett dental for $800. We call them explaining there must be some mistake coz during the appointment we'd already paid the co-pay. They replied back saying the insurance denied the claim and we were like what? After 10 calls back and forth with the insurance company and the corporate office of Dossett Dental, they say since my fiance had gotten a deep cleaning done 1.5 yr ago and the deep cleaning treatment can only be done once in 2 yrs to be covered by insurance. The corporate guy said they weren't aware of such a clause and we said we weren't either because cleaning is covered according to our insurance company but the fact that they doctor performed deep cleaning without checking with us or the insurance company, we had to pay a hefty sum out of pocket to settle the bill or take them to court. $800 is ridiculous amount of money for us and we probably would have never gotten it done if we knew. I hold the doctor and the staff here completely responsible because they do this on a daily basis for 8 hrs each day and deal with situations like these everyday! How could they not tell us the difference or ask us if we wanted a deep cleaning or basic cleaning? Or ask the insurance company if the exact service was covered or not. I mean all our information is right there with them. WILL NOT GO HERE EVER AGAIN. Strongly suggest doing all the insurance checkup urself if you still decide to go here for a doctor. read more

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. Took them over six months to complete a bridge and crown. I was constantly never numb enough. I have a very high pain tolerance, but at one point when I was in excruciating pain instead of trying to make me more comfortable they held me down. They messed up the measurements for the crown three times. I had a temporary put on and cracked the same day, the lady at the front was hostile and rude and said the next time it happens they are charging me $100. The only reason I didn't go to the ADA was because I switch to another one their dentists at the very end that finished the work and was very friendly. I will NEVER be back and have warned everyone I can about this place. My first appointment was a positive experience. The dentist was pleasant and took time to educate me. I returned to this practice so I as I had a filling fall out. The dentist who did the work was not personable, but the work he did appears fine. The problem occurred with my bill. I was charged for bitewing x-rays that were not taken. The charge for the resin based composite was inflated. I paid at the time of service for what my dental insurance would not cover. I wrote out a check for $129.80 as I was told this would be my out of pocket. I then received a bill for an additional $128.60. The fact that I was charged for a service I did not receive concerned me. I called and spoke with the office manager. She adjusted the bill for the x-ray. I then asked some questions about the cost of the filling as I had already called several offices to see what they charge. The $449.00 for the filling appears to be inflated. However, the tipping point for me was when I asked should I wait to receive another bill before I pay the final amount. I wanted to make sure there was not another insurance payment. My date of service was 5/26/18. Insurance paid on6/30 and I received my first statement 07/09. Her response was I should pay it right away as the next bill will have a $25.00 collection agency fee. Seems odd to have a collection agency fee after one billing statement. The office manager said she could not reverse this charge. I responded, if Dossett Dental is the customer they should be able to reverse the charge. The office manger responded "it is an attorney and we cannot do anything." Well, I will not return. I cannot recommend this practice as their billing practices are at a minimum questionable. I have a call into my dental insurance as it appears they paid for a service not received. read more

Beware of this place. Office staff was nice and polite while I was in the office, however. I have a Major insurance carrier and they "accidentally" sent the non network prices to the insurance company for payment for my wifes dental work. The insurance company paid their normal rate for the services and sent them a check for that amount. The dentist received the money from the insurance company, and proceeded to send me a bill for the difference. Payable in 5 days, and already marked as 30 days past due. I called them up and immediately the lady on the phone is telling me that it is was an accident and that they just need to adjust the bill to what the insurance rates where, and that I have no balance now. Both my wife and myself where told we needed deep cleanings and cavities filled at different times. The only charge that was the same to the insurance company was the for the actual filling material, and it was the non network price both times. When you tell people its a "deep clean" then it should be that, if it is billed as something else then the person should be told the actual name of the procedure they are to receive not a generic term. When I told my wife the service they performed she said they never said anything about it just called it a deep cleaning. They divide the mouth into 4 parts and charge outrageously for each section. Whoever is filing the insurance claims is either completely inept at the job or this facility is attempting to scam the insurance companies in hopes they will pay the wrong amounts, and hope we don't notice. Of course if we notice it was just a mistake and they adjust the bill. How many people didn't notice and paid they full wrong bill. Just go somewhere else not worth the effort of dealing with repeated accidental wrong bills. read more

This place is a rip off. I came in for a regular cleaning. The office checked my insurance. But instead they did a deep cleaning and did not tell me the services they were providing. I gave them money that day and really was unsure why. Next thing I know I have a 1200 dollar bill. I explained to them that they misrepresented themselves and they insisted I pay. To clear the misunderstanding they reduced the bill. On February 13,2014 a rep called and we both agreed on a settlement of $300, I paid him $90 on one card and I was to pay him $210 on another card. Instead of $210 he took on $300 dollars. Daniel at Dossett Dental lied to me and claimed that he did not say he would make that agreement. I do not recommend anyone to this dental office. Had I agreed to the services I would have been glad to pay and also I was told to come back again. They told me it was just a free follow up. It wasn't a free follow up .
