To whom it may concern and Dot customer, I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment and concern regarding an incident that occurred during my visit to your restaurant yesterday evening at your I-45 and Woodridge location in Houston. My wife and I had just finished dinner, and I began to feel unwell as we were leaving. I asked my wife to wait for me in the car while I went to the restroom. Unfortunately, the restroom was occupied, and I had to wait several minutes. Due to a sudden case of diarrhea--something I occasionally experience as a side effect of medication following a kidney transplant I underwent in October--I needed to use the restroom more than once. While I was inside, after only a few minutes, someone began knocking aggressively on the door and demanding that I come out. I responded that I would be finished shortly. When I exited, I was confronted by a manager and a security guard who were visibly upset and accused me of taking too long and misusing the restroom. I attempted to explain my medical situation and that I had just been dining there with my wife, but I was not given the opportunity to do so. Instead, I was told to leave immediately and that I was no longer welcome at your establishment. I felt humiliated, disrespected, and unfairly judged. I am a 61-year-old individual with a medical condition and a disability, and I believe I deserved to be treated with understanding and dignity--especially as a paying customer. My wife later spoke with the manager and showed our receipt to confirm that we had dined there. She also explained my medical condition, but the response she received was dismissive, stating that the manager had not noticed me during our meal. This only added to our frustration. Please understand that situations like mine can happen to anyone, especially individuals dealing with serious health conditions. I urge you to better train your staff to handle such situations with empathy and professionalism. Our group of friends, typically eight or more people, regularly dines out together after church on Tuesdays and Sundays. Unfortunately, due to this experience, we will not be returning to your restaurant, and I will be sharing this experience with others. As a suggestion, you may want to consider implementing a restroom access system (such as a keypad entry) to ensure that facilities are reserved for customers, while still treating those customers with respect. I recently visited Dot's Coffee Shop with my partner, excited to try their Denver omelet and seafood offerings. The vibe was classic diner cool, which I really enjoyed. Our server, Alexis, was quick with lemonade refills and attentive throughout, which helped keep things smooth. However, the kitchen was clearly having an off day. They were out of shrimp, so I went for the fried catfish--only to find out they were out of that too. I ended up substituting chicken strips with bleu cheese dip, which was a decent backup. Then, my partner asked to swap ham for bacon in their Denver omelet, but the omelet came out with nothing inside at all. On top of that, they were out of toast, so my partner got two biscuits instead. Bethany, another server, checked in on us. We explained the bacon mishap. My partner eventually just asked for a side of bacon at that point. Alexis kept the lemonade coming, which was much appreciated amid the food chaos. For dessert, my partner ordered the chocolate cream pie, which came out looking pristine and delicious. My strawberry cream pie looked like it had been through a war, but thankfully it tasted good--though it got a bit sickeningly sweet after a few bites, so I had to stop. Overall, Dot's has that nostalgic diner charm and friendly staff, but the kitchen needs to get their act together. If you're okay with a few hiccups and value good service, it's worth a visit. One of the things I appreciate most about Dot Coffee Shop is its convenient hours. Being open all night is a lifesaver after a long evening of adulting, or when you need a pick-me-up on the way home from an unexpected urgent care visit. And compared to the past, the parking situation has improved immensely, making stops even more stress-free. If you haven't already, I highly recommend giving Dot Coffee Shop a try. The generous portions are perfect for sharing, and the staff is always on top of refilling your drinks. I recently arrived at Dot Coffee Shop with a group of 10 for my nieces birthday, hoping for a welcoming experience. Unfortunately, the service fell short of expectations from the start. Upon arrival, we were informed that we would need to sit outside, as our group was apparently blocking the entrance, despite the indoor seating area being far from full and no visible congestion at the door. This lack of accommodation felt unnecessary and made us feel undervalued as customers. We've now been waiting over 30 minutes without being seated, though I understand that accommodating a larger group can take time, so I'm not upset about the wait itself. Still, the overall handling left room for improvement. I would suggest the management consider better ways to handle larger groups in the future to ensure a more inclusive atmosphere. Based on this experience, I'm hesitant to recommend this diner for group outings. read more

Me and my wife worked for Pappas Pre Covid. It was great place. Dots was an amazing late night spot. Casual. Bustling. Wholesome. After years of not partaking we decided for a random evening to indulge. And for the third time in the last few years we found the night shift abismal. Not the kitchen. The front of house was laughable. The three top that rendered them weeded was hilarious. We ended up leaving for Dennys as we were able to sit down and order the immediately even though they were far busier. The servers at Dennys were friendly and ready to serve. A sad day. Great place! One of my favorite spots in Houston. Love the rolls and comes with good portion sizes! My favorite is the Chicken Fried Chicken. It's truly one of the best places to get Southern food here in Houston and it's open 24 hours. Main downside is sometimes you have to wait for a table for a long time. Recently one of the last times I've been the service was bad and they overcharged me. Place was a mess as well but they were busy. This was our first time at this restaurant. Since this is a Pappas family restaurant, my expectations were high. Although the waitress was very nice, it took much longer than expected to get our food. The food was lukewarm and it was not all that great. I had the burger and fries and my wife had the grilled chicken sandwich. Overall, Dot did not live up to the Pappas quality that I am used to. This is why I give this place an average rating. Went their couple times with my roommate, my wife and my friends. It was not too bad for late and mid night dinner. Service is excellent however food does take for awhile. Server always give us a good service. Their bread and butter in beginning of the meal always fill me up because i am so hungry and it is good as H***. They have to tell me you still have your meal coming. Highly recommended to go their for mid night dinner. read more

I'm not a huge fan of the food. It's not all that good. Prices are worth the taste I guess. Portions are huge though. I'm shaky about the staff. Sometimes it's excellent service; other days, it just sucks. Depends on your waiter/waitress and the time I guess. I'd definitely recommend everyone to give it a try just once though. The portions are rather large and the daily specials include an entree with 3 sides. I ordered the smothered pork chops with buttered carrots, green beans, and collard greens. The pork chops were served over a bed of white rice and covered in gravy. Delicious. The carrots were tender and slightly sweet. Pretty good. The green beans had small pieces of bacon mixed in. I've eaten at Dot Coffee Shop for the past two years and have always been a happy customer. I eat breakfast there, and dinner here when I can. The food is great. I've never had a bad experience. The service is great. The staff is so nice and always positive. The environment is very homey. I always leave satisfied with my meal. The wait is never that long. read more

I have been coming here for over 10 yrs, there used to be a few Dot's in Houston in the 1950s and this is the last one, it is now owned by the Papa's chain. The chicken fired chicken is great. Never had a bad meal here. The decor is like walking back in to 1965, in-which I like. Very clean, Very 1960s diner-like. read more

I discovered Dot Coffee shop about two years ago ! There's so many great things about it. They're open 24/7, offer fresh pies, GREAT prices and HUGE portions! also, every time you sit down you're welcomed with warm fresh bread and butter as a starter, definitely one of the things that keeps me coming back! read more

I was told that this place was really good, I was told wrong. The food looked and tasted as if it was soaked in grease. It was truly disgusting. I never been back since and that was a few years ago. Waffle house is way better. read more
