I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and referred to Doubek Medical Supply for a CPAP machine. While I was there, everything was all flowers and roses. As as soon as I needed help, forget it. Kari Racanelli was my representative. She fit the mask and that was it. The CPAP machine didn't work at all after I got home, come to find out the water reservoir was malformed. Kari said she would send someone out to help me. Two weeks later, not a word from Doubek or Kari. The followup is non-existent. I had to pursue this with the repeatedly. The service person did a zoom call with me and that's how I discovered the water reservoir was malformed. Kari dropped every ball. I told Kari I wanted to return the CPAP machine as it was not helping, no response. I had to keep after her to get the FedEx return label. All Kari wants is your Medicare number to keep billing your Medicare account for supplies. I don't know for sure, but I assume Kari is on a commission and gets a commission for all the medical replacements you get through Medicare as well. For example, you can get a new hose, new mask etc at regular intervals. Kari LOVES that. She doesn't have to do a thing for her residual commissions. There are much, much better medical supply houses to get CPAP equipment from. read more

Terrible customer service from Jose. He became rude and sarcastic when I was trying to order my supplies. (I had complained of cost for CPAP supplies) There are several other companies to choose from and I chose them since 2017 ----but no more. I encourage others to go elsewhere as this company has moved away from their motto of "compassionate care". Just ask your Dr. for the names of other reputable companies for your medical supply needs. I cannot stress this enough.....if you have another option for diabetes supplies, go there. I'm not sure what is more frustrating: 1. The man who always sounds annoyed when you need a reorder, as if you are interrupting him. 2. The complete communication failures (i.e 48 hour notice that they won't be carrying your supplies anymore when your order is due to go out) 3. Their billing practicing that don't match up to dates of service (i.e. shipping 3 months worth of supplies but billing insurance nonsensical dates of service in 3 separate transactions.) I could probably list more but I have to go ensure I can get insulin pump supplies from another source lined up in the next few days....you know because it's as easy as buying band-aids. For a medical supplier, they are either clueless, uninformed, or just don't care. read more

My daughter has received medical supplies for many years no issues. Recently they decided not to supply only one of our supplies (we have like 8 different supplies for past 10 yrs) due to insurance not enough reimbursement.They carry the supplies but refuse to refill it not enough payment. We have BCBS Blue advantage HMO . I filed a report against them. If you have an Advocate Contract you should supply the supplies all or nothing. read more

Don't use this place. They Lied to me and said that my insurance covered the cgm when it didn't. After ordering the cgm and sensors we found out that i was not covered. My doctor office called them and they lied to them saying they were working on my issue with the insurance. Then they lied to me and said that my doctor was at fault. It ended up with my having to pay them almost $1800 for THEIR mistake. Please, i beg you, if you want someone who cares about you and who wants to help please find another medical supply company. When I traveled to the area a few months ago, I was bummed to find out that my breastpump was not working properly. I needed to temporarily use a pump but not buy a whole new one, so I was relieved when I found out that Doubek carries electric breast pumps to rent. In fact on their website they list that they carry a range of lactation supplies and equipment. I called and they said that they had the Medela Symphony in stock and ready to rent, which is what I have used and am familiar with, so was further relieved. When I arrived and explained I was there for a pump, I was given a really hard time as they didn't allow people from out town rent their equipment. I explained I am from the area and visiting my parents house, and I could put it in my Mom's name if they prefer. After quite some time and a lot of back and forth, they finally agreed to rent it to me. I used the pump with no problems and was glad for that. My mom offered to return it for me after I left. When she went to Doubek, they gave her a hard time because they claimed the pump was missing a part and said they'd have to charge us if it wasn't found. My mom called me to check and I assured her I packed everything in the box before giving it back. My mom had to start arguing with the woman at the counter, that there was nothing missing--it was all there. Whatever the reason, this customer service person wouldn't listen. Another worker came along and looked at the box and contents and said that everything was in there--nothing was missing and that we were free to go. Our minds were boggled at how they had such an attitude and acted like we purposely were trying to pull a fast one on them, when they were the ones who were wrong. So, I'm glad that they had what I needed but customer service here could definitely do without the attitude and snark. Would recommend them in a pinch, but if you have better options, probably wouldn't hurt to check alternate options. read more

Have been diagnosed with varicose veins so need to wear the support stockings. I went to a medical supply store closer to home at first to see if they could help. Unfortunately they were not able to bill my insurance, so, upon the recommendation of the wound care nurses, went to Doubek's Medical supply to see if they could help. Not only were they able to help me out, but they did all the footwork for me, getting the referral needed and working with my insurance, as well as taking the time to show me how to put the stockings on and how to care for them. These folks are highly recommended. They are very professional in what they do and as an added bonus, friendly and extremely helpful. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. All I wanted to do was to get was support knee-highs for spider veins. It has been the most frustrating event and the customer service at Doubek is horrible. I spoke with Katie and yep there's only one Katie there. She wanted me to give her my prescription ahead of the fitting for the knee-highs and just recently left me another message on my voicemail claiming she didn't know how much pressure was needed for the knee-highs despite me talking to her 2 days ago about it, and even connecting her to the medical assistant at my doctor's office who verbally informed her on all the details while I was listening on the phone. It's SIMPLE KATIE not ROCKET SCIENCE...knee-high compression socks at the lowest pressure and I wear size 8 women's shoe. What is so difficult about it? And yes, it is covered though my insurance. Katie also wouldn't fit me in her schedule anyway for a fitting that takes 20 minutes. They don't do any fittings at all on Saturdays or in the evenings, and Katie absolutely would not do it anytime between 12 and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday because that is her lunch time. I talked to Angela a manager there who basically said I would have to take off from work to meet Katie around 10 a.m. in the day. I work downtown and not in Alsip so why the heck would I miss 4 hours of work for $30 socks? These people are absolute morons. I saw the 2014 Yelp review from Mike P and I guess there have been changes since 2014 because I've made 5 phone calls and no progress at Doubek. I will not be coming there for a fitting because I don't want to waste my time with crazy slow detaining staff who are just waiting for the end of the day so they can go home. Horrible experience. Waited almost a week to have a phone call returned. 2 weeks later I called again for another issue, again, no return call. I was told technicians are not given time to check messages and return calls. Then I received a call from someone I have never spoken to before who told me they were too busy to return calls. She went on to say I needed to change my way of thinking and needed to start thinking "outside the box". If you are a medical provider home care agency or just looking to buy quality equipment THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. I ordered a hospital bed from this company for a bariatric patient of mines and after a month of use the safety rail was loose and coming apart. I asked the patient what happened and he said that it was loose like that when the bought the bed to his home. A few months later the automatic foot lift was broken on one side of the bed. After Doubek finally went out to repair the bed they refused to do so and claimed that this helpless disabled patient purposely broke the bed and refused to fix it. Now this patient who weighs over 600 pounds has to sleep in a bed that he may fall out of and hurt himself as well as the broken foot rest leaves his back aching in severe pain. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY THE ARE selling THE POOR AND UNFORTUNATE low QUALITY MATERIALS WHILE RAKING IN MEDICARE DOLLARS. read more

Very rude and not taking a return I just purchased an hour ago that they charged 4x the price elsewhere. On a role of tape. Didn't even touch the roll still the way they handed it to me. They have a sign posted no cell phone use audio and video being recorded. So I didn't look up pricing until I was home but still when I called they are rude. I have an ostomy and would come here for my products for years. I went on disability and got Medicare Advantage. Suddenly Doubek couldn't work with my insurance. I am disappointed since they are close to home and always were helpful. I don't understand how they choose which insurances to work with or if the insurance companies tell them. read more

I had an appointment on December 15, 2017. I saw Lisa and I felt rushed. I was trying to discuss the different type of masks and I was told am not going to make this decision for you. When I picked the one I wanted she just walked out of the room without saying anything. Why would I want a medical supply store to make a decision about my mask? If I wanted advice I would have asked my doctor. I didn't feel any sensitivity at all. But on a positive tip, the front staff were friendly ad informative. you know when you care for someone who cant take care of themselves you feel it. you feel that pain to. i care for a loved one. who may never ever care for themselves. and all i want is to find ways to help them much as i can.its because you love them to do so. and for a company that can not understand your pain they gang up on you, just because you feel stressed and a bit worried. about certain supplies getting to your loved one, that they need. there was no name calling no harsh punishment. but they take that so personal they would cut you off on your supplies because one guy feels insulted because his wifes feelings were hurt. if that was his wife. he had a violent tone and aggressive behavior and the woman kept on saying that your the lier due to date changed which she kept saying they did no such thing. which did. right now i feel stressed and disappointed i am a 24/7 caregiver i just want to make sure my loved one has supplies. supplies that dont come cheap. this place really needs to stop taking things so personal so hurtful how would they do business. i will be contacting the doctors and see if there are other places that can help us and truly be able to do business. because the disable should not be treated in such a manner just because there voice can not be heard by arrogant people. -to those who have read this story.this from a friend of mine im sharing it to yous. because i know her well and she goes through alot in life taking care of her loved one this place was wrong an how they acted towards her. and i know for a fact she didn't belittle anyone or swore or acted violently. these people are just thinking there better then people who have this kind of bad luck in there lives. read more

I was charged $245.40 for 2 pair of compression closed two stockings in February and then $368.10 for 2 pair of open toe stockings in September. I was offered $95.00 to not refile with insurance. The ridiculous part in this is you can get the exact stockings for about $62.00 online. Talk about markup! Horrible company that I'm stuck with because of my HMO. I've had an order for CPAP supplies overdue for over 3 months and they NEVER call you to update you on the order status or what's going on. After numerous complaints they tell me they'll stay on top of this one because I've been buying supplies out of pocket to tide me over. Apparently they just fax a referral request and if the doctor never replies, the do nothing but resend faxes. They don't bother telling you they can't get the doctor to respond. I had no idea what the hold up was. After a lot of problems getting down to the issue, turns out they've been faxing the wrong number! IF they ever bother to call you, they don't bother to leave a message either. So unhelpful and so lazy! read more
