This is only about a delivery pizza we had. We are only a couple of blocks from Double DD so it's not like the pizza had to sit for a long time. As a matter of fact, I think the delivery was done on foot. Anyway, we ordered a pizza (after really enjoying one we had in the restaurant). The size was okay, the toppings were okay. What shocked us was the fact that the crust was completely soggy on the bottom as though it had been steamed. It was not baked, it was not crispy or brown or anything you might expect: it was completely white and soggy wet. How the heck did that happen? As I said, it's not like it had to travel a long distance for delivery, sitting and steaming on the way. Anyway, I've never had a wet pizza base no matter how long it took to arrive. The next shocking thing was I called Double DD to tell them about this soggy pizza bottom and how it spoiled the eating experience, and the response I got was "Thanks for letting us know." Excuse me? I thought the least they'd do is offer us a discount on a future pizza, but nothing. No friendliness or apology or nothing. Wow! Basically seemed like they couldn't care less. I paid around $25 for this disappointing wet mess and tough luck on me. Well, too bad, Double DD, you just lost a neighbourhood customer who could have been a long-term regular bringing lots of business your way. read more

My friend raves about Double DD Pizza for their roasted lamb, Greek food and pizza so this west side neighbourhood restaurant has been on my to-try-list for a long time. We gather a group of six and had dinner here this weekend. The gang all agreed with me that there were hits and misses. My final verdict, I didn't loved Double DD Pizza as much as my friend. The hits: great customer service, big portions, affordable drinks/prices, relaxing atmosphere and good Greek salad and roasted lamb. The misses: some lamb souvlaki pieces were moist but the outer ones were dry, very dry Greek style ribs and unseasoned lasagna. Double DD Pizza didn't wow me this weekend but I will come back to try their pizza and maybe to give the lamb souvlaki another try. read more

They have some consistent greats, so my family and I find ourselves here when we want some Greek. This time around, we ordered a roast lamb plate, a small no. 9 pizza (pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers), and a baked spaghetti. The roast lamb is a good size and cooked well - nice and soft, though the outer bits are a little drier. The pizza was also really good, with the perfect crust, in my opinion. The baked spaghetti was as expected, but you really can't go wrong with their meat sauce. Their salads were light, and the vinaigrette that came with the garden salad was a little sweet. I will say that their pita and bread didn't quite hit this time around, though it isn't a real dealbreaker. The meal ended up being around $25 a person after tax and tip, so if you're looking for a solid plate of food in the neighbourhood, I would recommend. We just had the worst service, worst attitude and bad hard crust tasteless pizza in Vancouver. We bought the pizza by take out and when we called to let them know that the pizza was not like we had many times in the past and requested either a new one to replace or have some thing else made instead. They were very hesitant on the phone and asked us to bring back the pizza to show them. We then drove back and took the whole pizza less 1.5 pieces back. To our surprise and shocked that they were unfriendly and refused to replace the pizza and basically said too bad that you didn't like the pizza and just took it back and tossed in the garbage can. We a totally flabbergasted that this restaurant will treat regular customers like that with this kind of horrendous service and attitude. We have even referred friends and family to this place in the past. Well, after this unheard of experience, Double DD has lost a few regular customers and this will be the last time we will be coming to this place. read more

Their pizza has been increasingly bad over the years. It is usually extremely watery - we've literally poured like a half cup of water off our pizzas before. If you try to order a single item with no veggies, to avoid the water, the pizza is super skimpy with barely any toppings. Last time we ordered double beef, and could barely see any on there. Usually you will get a pizza with cheese on one half, and barely any cheese on the other half. Its super uneven and a disgrace. They also seem to be using less cheese than a few years ago. Their pizza is honestly terrible and I can't believe this place is still in business. We've been ordering here for years, but our pizzas have been terrible for the last couple of years, and we are done. Good luck fellas. read more

My parents come to this restaurant alot with their friends and we have been a handful of times and have brought our friends and extended family .. The future will exclude coming or recommending this resteraunt anytime in the future. I understand we may all have a off day sometimes.... The pizza sucked real bad, tasted stale right out of the box. The crust tasted kinda gross and the toppings were sparse. Others are staying the same thing...I picked up the pizza but drove it back voicing my concerns. The lady tossed it in the garbage and said there was n nothing they could do. I know it can be tuff these days but that is a bad way to run a business. This is our go-to Greek restaurant for family meals. The lamb is excellent and tastes like I'm in Greece. The family who owns and runs DDs are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and family friendly. The service is quick if you want it to be, and unhurried if you are there for the evening. I've been going back to Double DD for lunch... their epic penne special is only for $7.95 first you get a salad with many dressing choices then you get a thick slice (2") of garlic bread then you get the penne... you can choose either meat of veggie sauce... I've tried them both and i tell you they're both awesome - but I like the meat one more... and it's big portions too... everything for $7.95 is just too epic. read more

Our friend invited us for pizza as said he never goes anywhere else as this place has the best pizza! He was right and we'll never go anywhere else for pizza again. It's a family run business and we met the father, daughter, mother-in-law and brother. It was just like going to the "old" county where you also meet the owners. We just ordered a large cheese and shrimp and I wish we took a picture. The dough is made by the father every morning and it was nice and crispy even though there was a lot of topping. Well worth the price and it was enough for the three of us. Great pizza, friendly family and reasonable price, what more could you ask for? I may try other Greek menu items next time, but going back for the pizza. read more

The waitstaff are extremely pleasant and kind, especially when you have kids with you. They rushed out armed with crayons and coloring books for my friend's kids. Our waitress laughed and made a friendly joke when one of my friend's children made a righteous mess on his plate by mixing hot pepper flakes and water into a "soup." So I would give five stars for service and saintly patience. The food was not excellent; my pizza was a test case for sodium overdose, and my friend's steak was so underseasoned that I imagined the cow coming over, picking up the slab of meat, tucking it back into the missing area, and saying, "Do you mind? I Have lived a few blocks away from this place for almost two years before checking it out... will definitely be back. Driving along 4th I never really noticed this place until one night I noticed it was packed. I Checked out the yelp reviews and decided to give it a try. My partner ordered the roast lamb and LOVED it. The Greek salad was delicious. I ordered the meat lasagne - a simple recipe, but the portion is massive! Great amount of food for $12. The waitress suggested the Greek dishes and pizza as some of the best choices. The service was lovely, our waitress was great and I'm guessing it was the owner?, checked to see how we were doing throughout our meal. There are so many cons that it's hard to know where to begin. - Let's maybe start by the fact that the owner, or whoever he was, was not very welcoming. Not only was he worse for wear, but he didn't make any eye contact when he told us where to sit. After that, we never saw him again. - My friend and I waited 30 MINUTES for very mediocre pizzas. They were maybe full of so-called "cheese" but were nonetheless totally tasteless. - When ordering my pizza, I asked if it was possible to get a thin crust, to which I was told yes, but I ended up with the exact 1.5cm thick crust than my friend had. As for him, he asked to switch pepperonis for mushrooms. The waitress agreed. However when came the bill, we realized he had been charged for it! - We were never offered any water during the whole course of the meal. My friend had to go to the bar and ask for it. - Another table requested for doggy bags. However no one took away their plates to do it, instead they were given takeaway boxes so they could do it THEMSELVES! Going back? It's ok not to be the best pizzeria ever. First Visit: Decent service. Food is very mediocre. Had the pizza and Greek salad. Meh. Perhaps it would be best to try out the Greek food next time around? Second Visit: Friday night, 9:40pm. Walk in with a friend. Say hello to the server and she gives us an awkward stare before asking if we are picking up an order. I respond with 'no'. Another awkward pause. Blander than beige paint. Ordered two roast lamb meals for pick-up. The server on the phone didn't indicate when the food would be ready for pick-up, just said 'okay' after taking our order and hung up. We live right next door so we were able to just keep walking over and seeing if our order was ready. It was a slow night but they must have been busy with pick-ups because we didn't get our food until 45 minutes after the order was placed--maybe it seemed longer because we had to keep guessing when the food was ready. When we got the food the rice was completely overcooked and pretty much just bland (get used to the word, I'll be using it a lot) mush. The lamb wasn't seasoned AT ALL and was, you guessed it, bland. I smothered it with tzatziki which was, unsurprisingly, bland as well. Gave up eating and tried the potato. Surprise, it was bland! Finally just put the food in the fridge and ate the salad, which was your typical Greek salad. They get 2 stars for not messing that up. Ate the leftover lamb again a few days later. Time has not made it better, but I did buy some tzatziki from No Frills, which made it bearable. I must have eaten the potato as well but have no recollection of flavour, probably because there was none. Tossed the rice in with the compost. No thanks, not even the convenience of the location will induce us to go there again. read more

Love this place! Not THE BEST greek food ever but when you consider the price the quality is very good. Basically gourmet quality at medium ($12-15) prices. Very nice staff and I have never been treated rudely by them either when I have dined in or gotten delivery/takeout. The people that work here aren't there to take your whiney crap; if you have a bad attitude (as it seems many of the reviewers here do) then I could see the staff treating you appropriately. This is because the staff comes off as genuinely nice rather than superficially pleasant to get tips. i has the pizza the night before and it was ok and delicious i figure i would try the roast lamb that everybody was saying was so good i would. not recommend the roast lamb to nobody or even my dog what a disappointment the meat of the lamb was not cooked enough and was barely breakable by my hands as i was at work on a job site with no utensils and they only gave me a plastic fork and told me that they had no plastic knives then i asked for mint sauce and they just looked at me like i was asking for something unusual and told me no and walked away .... i went iga across the street and bought a bottle 5$ .... what a waste of. money on both items as lamb was not tender at all to enjoy the mint sauce .... the rice was bland as well and the potato bland as well they say they a real greek restaurant i don't think so .... real greek restaurants cook the lamb tender and they have mint sauce for the lamb ...and rice has flavour and the potato some spices oh ya the pita bread was like a flat hard cracker i couldn't even bite into it ' gross' and the tatziki sauce was very lame as well no cucumber in it nothing just a white cream if i was not at work i would have taken it back and complained stay away from the roast lamb. read more

Great cheese bread (lots of cheese!). Ordered the 22 with cheese bread and marinara sauce. The delivery was pretty quick, about 25 minutes, and very friendly. The pizza was delicious and garlicky! I highly recommended dipping the bread and pizza in the marinara, that sauce is amazing!!! read more

To start off our experience wasn't bad. It was "ok". And by "ok" I don't mean some passive aggressive approach to the word. It was alright, it wasn't great, it wasn't terrible; it was okay. I don't regret going there but I wouldn't go back. To start we walked in from the street (and not parachuting from the sky) there were table and chairs set up in the way of the actual entrance with a sign in the distance reading "wait to be seated". So we just stood there on the side walk looking confused and awkward. Front of house waitress spotted us and sat us down. She was very nice. However our waitress was curt with us and never checked in with how the food was tasting and seemed to be dealing with some sort of drama concerning the tapping of the keg (I guess she didn't do it properly and blah blah blah). Now onto the pizza! We ordered the Greek salad and had 2 small pizzas. 1 Hawaiin and 1 Greek sort of deal (feta,onion and fresh tomatoe). The pizza sauce is not home made. Couldn't see the brand but it was in a plastic container. The toppings may or may not have been from the supermarket. Flavors didn't "pop" but seemed fresh. So listen. If you want to go there do! But we don't need to go back. And I use "need" so I don't seem like I'm irate, enraged on the war path to decimate the establishment and their children's children. read more

BEST place to eat in KITS!!!! Yesterday was my second time at Double DD's and I will continue to come here and recommend it to as many people as I can; places like this just don't exist anymore... The food is wonderful and home style. Authentic and consistent in all it's dishes. The prices are so reasonable one almost starts to feel bad for not paying more! Double DD's appears to be family owned and operated, which is probably why it is so exceptional. I had my sister's 30th surprise party here with 20 people and the service was impeccable. The accommodation we received was unimaginable for a small business not adhering to some corporate mission statement like 'the house of yessssss'.... All the bills were split up with 0 issues. Every order was accurate and our server was so talented, pleasant and extremely good at what she does. She never left us wondering where she was or wanting to get her attention. She anticipated our needs and together with who I think was the owner/chef, made our night very special and memorable. The two of them went above and beyond to make our night unforgettable and to make us all feel very welcome. I love this restaurant and I sincerely hope they flourish and have nothing but successes. This is a fun local pizza joint in Kits. It often looks a bit dark from the outside but the interior is cozy with brick and IKEA artwork accents. Feels very homey. The servers are super nice and the place appears to be family run. Seemed to be popular with families with small children. There are two dining rooms and a small bar as well. The prices are quite reasonable by Kits standards. Large pizzas (~12 slices) average $15 - 18 depending on the toppings. This is often the price of a medium at other local pizza joints. Taps are $4 for a pint. I felt like the food was a good deal. I also really like that they offer fast, free delivery (min order $7). Other pizza places will require a minimum order of $20 to qualify for delivery. Again, I think Double Ds is a great value for the food. The pizza was warm and fresh. The crust was a bit crunchy and I felt like it should be softer. Also, the toppings had the tendency to fall off the pizza slice after the first bite (probably it was fresh out of the oven!). Love this family run business that consistently serves a great meal at a great price. The Roast Lamb Dinner for $17 is great value and is absolutely mouthwatering delicious. There is one thing for sure Greeks have been serving and eating lamb for as long as there has been fire to cook with and this little restaurant continues this tradition with an outstanding lamb dinner. I asked for the wifi password and the waitress said she was too busy to get it for me. Then I ordered a Greek salad and they gave me a horrible tossed salad. There was 2 fairly big bugs crawling on are table within 30 min the only reason why I rated this place 2 stars was cause the manager over heard us and gave us the password right away. We got our garlic bread and it's just a huge chunk not even sliced and didn't even taste like garlic, it actually I'm not even joking tasted like plain bread that's been sitting in a freezer all week.
